Tac gave a small nod, knowing full well that he wasn't about to go ordering a feast just to have it vomited up later. Perhaps though, anything not half-rotten and that expanded beyond a single handful was feast enough. He took a few steps close to the table as the coins were dumped out, lips pressing slightly. After a moment, he sighed and dug into on of his pockets. A single silver was dropped onto the collection of coppers. "This will cover it more than enough, so they will be giving you change in return for me. Don't lose it in the bath."

He turned back around and reached for his medical bag. He was more than ready to get out of the filthy air that hung so heavily in the dank space. "I'll go get the meal and meet you in front of the bath house. Remember, there will be no food if I come back and you're still looking, and smelling, like the alley floor." Well, this was certainly a trade he had never imagined he would find himself in. He couldn't help a look over his shoulder, almost concerned that Finn would back away at the last minute. "Do we have a deal?"

Change? As if.. If there was anything worthwhile left over Finn would spend it how he sought fit; likely on a snack for the road to Tac's house. Already his mind was a whirl with possibilities. How much would be left? Was it enough for a full meal or just some cooked meat? Maybe just a piece of fruit? Logically he should just give it back; Finn had come to expect the beating his lie would get him already even if Tac hadn't said as much, but he couldn't help it.

Thinking on it a moment, Finn turned to take up his staff. Unlike everything else in the alley it was ornate and very clearly something he never should have owned. Even though he was barely touching it the staff seemed to sizzle with magic as if it were just waiting for the trigger to be pulled so that it may unleash a storm. Instead of acting on instinct Finn handed it over to Tac. "Bring this with you when you meet me. If I take it then they'll think I stole it." As far from innocent as he was, Finn was by no means a thief to that degree. He stole food, yes, but anything else was off limits to the boy. This staff...it was his prized possession and even now he showed great reluctance to hand it over.

"Come back without it and I'll get it myself."

Accepting the staff, Tac took a moment to look the tool over. How interesting that their father had used runes for his magic, but neither magic-using son had taken up the same tactic. Perhaps that was just further emphasis on how different they all had become. He could even feel the energy that had imprinted on the staff after Finn had used it for so long for offense. It practically crackled under fingers that were used to the gentler magic of healing.

...And now he was going to have to carry this big stick around until he got back.

"You needn't worry about your staff in my care," he huffed, hooking it to the same loops that held his cane. When he reached the main street, he too a deep breath of relief. Air! "The bath house is up that way with the blue ferns surrounding the archway. I won't be very long."

Finn kept his eye on Tac as the other made his way towards the main street. It didn't take long to scoop his coin back into the dingy little bag and even less time to join the other at the alley's mouth. A few passerbys glanced their way, pausing just long enough on Finn to earn a snarl from the boy.

"Just keep your word," He grumbled. Without his staff to hold onto Finn's empty fingers crossed over his chest. Surely this wouldn't be so terrible...right? He'd survived worse than a bath and an evening with his brother wouldn't be so horrible if there was food involved. Rolling his eyes the younger yaeli started walking up the street towards the bathhouse.

With a soft sigh, Tac gave a dismissive wave before heading in the opposite direction. He had to figure out what a good meal for one of Finn's condition would be. There was also the matter of when he had turned into such a softie. Finn was now officially one of two, maybe three, people that Tac had ever made any effort to see outside of his medical profession.

Would it be worth it? Only time would tell.
