Akel 4

She listened some more and was shocked to hear that Nivalis wanted to seek the help of the Alkidike from Chibale. In truth she hadn't thought of them. She disliked them based off what she'd been told. Even more so than the Yaeli earthlings.

However, their choices were limited and if it came down to keeping her dislike or saving Elzira...

A deep breath was inhaled through the nose before she did anything else. "Ask them." She chimed in. It was clear from her clenched fists that she was not fond of the answer. Even more so when her jaw tensed after speaking.

Naisi has grown up hearing the stories of her people; the tenuous history between the Chibale Alkidike’s and the Elaria was no secret. Her own mother had told them to her, with practiced flair, many a night before bedding down. She had spoken of the strength of her people, their superiority over the Earthlings - over their own cousins - and their purpose, to reclaim the Aishan homeland.

As a child, Naisi had delighted in her mother’s stories, relished in the sense of pride they instilled within her; but, as she had gotten older, her feelings had changed. All she had ever known was peace, a bated sense of calm. This moment right now, the choice being given to them, was most disconcerted Naisi could recall being.

The choice was obvious. Nivalis had already acknowledged that the answer to their plight rested outside Zenris; yet, Naisi couldn’t deny the knot forming in her stomach at the thought.

’At what price will this knowledge come?’, Naisi thought with a frown.

As answers rose out of the gathered, one sister after another, Naisi steeled her resolve. If Elzira suffered now as a result of their actions - or her inaction - then the responsibility to aide her fell to them, however far afield that path may lead.

“If there is a chance the answer lies in Chibale, then we must take it,” Naisi answered with a resolute nod.

Nivalis 4

Nivalis’ minty gaze turned a piercing look on the woman at her side. She hadn’t needed help to explain herself, and she didn’t feel it was necessary to do loudly command the attention of the others. She didn’t want anyone to look back on this and regret coming to such a hasty decision... But the deed was done, and in the wake of her guard’s calls, murmurs of assent spread out before her.

Others were not so much murmurs as they were barks of disgruntled consent. Her tribe understood, as Nivalis did, that there were few options presented to them. Seeking aid from their cousins to deal with Aishan matters was still piles better than banding with Earthlings.

This was, at least, keeping to their ancestry.

“Understand that I don’t make this decision lightly,” Nivalis implored, tone brightening just a bit at her sisters’ acceptance of the idea, no matter how grudging it was. She gave a smile to those gathered, letting her gaze rest on each face as her sisters spoke. “But this is the path to greater strength. As a tribe we have accepted that no one achieves anything alone. We have always been prepared to rely on each other, on the knowledge of our elders, the guidance of our mother tree. It does pain me, but our cousins have survived centuries and centuries longer than we have. They will know what is to be done.”

Her tone leveled, posture stiffening. “If they refuse us, then at least no one can say we didn’t explore every option. I will send a messenger, and while we wait, we will continue to do everything we can here to ease Elzira’s burdens.”

Akel 5

While she wasn't thrilled with the idea of bringing in outsiders to hep she understood the need. Elzira was everything to them. If it took the knowledge that someone else had to save her then so be it.

Akel didn't blame Nivalis for seeking the help of their cousins. At least their mystic had an idea of what to do. Though she had to admit she was curious about who it was that she was sending on such an important mission. So Akeldama raised her hand and leveled her gaze at Nivalis.

"Who will be going and what protection will they have?" She wanted her worries to be calmed. It had to be someone who wouldn't lose sight of their mission and their guards needed to have sharp eyes. Nothing could stop this messenger if Elzira was to be saved.
