Koray wasn't sure about any of this. He didn't seemed like a super bad person, and the kids here looked really happy... That boosted his spirits more, and he seemed to gain a bit of confidence from that. "Y-yes sir! My... I'm Koray, that's my name, and I'm from all over. My family are travelers So we go all over the world, where my Ma wants to go. Ma and Ilkay, my big brother, use their fists for fighting. My papa and dad don't fight or anything, they cook and build things. I know my limits when it comes to physical stuff, and I'm not really good with that. So... I wanted to learn magic, to protect my family in my own way!"

Behind Risdeis' back, Iro grinned and popped up an encouraging thumbs up, glad that Koray was answering the question to well. She was pleased to see Risdeis give a slight nod as he listened to Koray's rapid answer. "And what about magic specifically interests you, Koray?" Risdeis asked. "What makes you think you are the right fit to learn it?" Iro nodded again, quietly egging her young friend on. He was so close, and he was doing so well.

Koray beamed at Iro, giving a little thumbs up back before Risdeis looked back at them. He could do this! And Iro believed in him! There was no way he was going to let them down. "I really like how you can use it to help people. I'm not sure about the paths of magic I could take, but the idea of working together with the world and nature around me, to better it for everyone, really, really makes me happy. It's something I want to do. And... I don't know what makes me the right fit. I don't think I'd learn that until I tried, if that makes sense. I might be awful at it, but I don't want to simply not try. Cuz there's also lots of different types of magic to use, and the first one might not fit, or the second or the third, but somewhere, there's something for me!" For a moment, he paused, looking down at the the edges of his tunic, grabbing it and gently touching the embroidery there. "And maybe, my magic won't be fighting-ready at all. It might be something that can help at home, like helping with fires, or using wind to cool our home. I just wanna be able to do something to help them, as much as my family helps me."

Risdeis looked thoughtful for a moment, then he nodded slowly, with all the practiced care of a man who has made many a decision such as this one. "If you think you'll stick with it through the second, third, perhaps even fourth and fifth types and all hours of trial and error, then you may yet do well," he said, hands clasped behind his back. "Come back in ten days, at noon. You will begin then. I hope you are prepared to work hard, Koray." And then with a brisk nod, Risdeis left them in the courtyard. Iro's eyes were wide by the time he started to walk away, but she waited until he'd disappeared from view before letting out a wild whoop. "Look at that!!" she blurted out in a fit of excitement. "You did it!!! He's going to teach you! This is going to be great!!" She grabbed him and swept him up in a big hug that lifted him off the floor once again.

“I-I am sir! I promise I am! Thank you! Thank you!” As Risdeis left them alone, Koray waited until he was out of sight, just as Iro did, before letting out his own happy squeal and hugging her as tight as he could. “We did it! You helped me so we did it!! Ahhh!!!! I’m so excited!! Thank you, thank you!!! I-I still can’t believe it!” He laughed while his feet dangled off the ground. “We gotta go tell Ilkay!! And Ma and Papa And Dad!! We should get some sweets too to celebrate! I... It still feels so unreal!!”

She set him up and nodded, holding out her hand for him to grab. "Yes! Okay, sweets first, because you deserve to celebrate first, and then home to tell your family," she said, already heading toward the gate. "This is great news! You should be proud of yourself, Koray!" She beamed. It was almost like seeing one of her own little cousins succeed and do something great. Somehow, that made all the work that had gone into finding Risdeis melt away, leaving only this happy moment. That probably meant it had all been worth it.

“I.. I AM proud of myself! I’m so happy!” He said it again, nearly skipping along, swinging their hands in utter delight! “And I’m really thankful for you, big-sis! It’s cuz of you I could do this! You make me brave, and I’m going to keep being brave, and get strong so I can protect everyone, and that means you too!” But for now, what called his name was sweets. The biggest sweet roll he could get was his reward for a job well done!
