User Image "Every little bit of magic we use has a greater impact then some realize." Oleander nodded agreeing with the scuttle scale, "The Others had done a great damage to Vykeli, but we can make it right again. One little piece at a time."

Glancing around again, Oleander started following Tsarine once more, they still had this fruit to find before it was taken by everyone else.. He was looking forward to finding the item, the trees it grew upon. Something was helping them survive this place.

"Perhaps what we seek is higher up and closer to the water." he pondered as Shiny squawked at his side to be let back into his basket.

Looking down, Oleander stopped a moment to lean down and let the Cockatrice back into its basket. Seemed the bird was tired of running around, or didn't like this place anymore then they did. Either way, it was good that Shiny knew to stick close and not race off, something Oleander had worried about... Kind of anyways. Cockatrice secured, he quickly caught back up with Tsarine as he walked.

Up higher? Tsarine' eyes widened as the path started heading uphill. Forgetting the dread that loomed everywhere he started to get excited, "If I was a special tree I'd grow on a hill far away from this" he motioned his head to the murkiness of the area. Pretty soon he noted the mist was dying down as if pulling the hill wasn't something it desired to climb to be somewhere. The air as he kept moving seemed a little clearer too as the sun tried peeking downward giving the adept solar user a tinge of color that returned to his emotions.

he called behind him, "Its a hill! We're traveling up a hill!" Essentially this hill could become nothing more than a disappointment but his swaying tail was speaking silently as it timed with his steps. The higher he climbed the more excited the golden brown buck was becoming.

Then he stopped short seeing something glisten ahead. Tilting his head with a flick of an ear he took two more steps causing more silver shapes to be in view. At first, it puzzled him then he started seeing shapes of branches with.... fruit?!

Oleander! Look up ahead! Do you see it?!" he called out like a colt ready to initiate a game.

User Image Oleander continued to follow Tsarine up the hill. Higher and higher they went and the mists were clearing. He stopped a moment to glance around the trees as they seem to space out more here. There seemed to be more stumps then trees to start. Frowning deeply, he looked back at the younger buck as it seemed that he had spotted something.

"Oh?" he asked picking up his pace a little to come up behind Tsarine, more so pulling up to be beside him. "That could be what we are looking for." Oleander squinted towards where Tsarine had spotted something.

He had come to see the fruit as well, the silver bark of the trees that hosted the fruit. That just had to be the one that Wanderust had found. At least a patch of it anyways. Tail flicking slightly behind him, he glanced at Tsarine with a grin.

"First one to the trees is a dark bulb." He said in challenge racing forward.

Tsarine's pause caused Oleander to bump directly into him. Oops. He frowned momentarily then pranced in place. One good run was what the bucks savored, friend competition was an engaging rigorous bout of play that would relieve any bouts of depression creeping upon them.

Ayala situated herself used to the boys' competitive nature chuckling that downward emotion was basically fleeting elsewhere. They found the prize leading them both to a victorious race amongst one another. Once she settled herself gripping his long mane her tail tapped lightly giving him the signal.

The younger buck snorted with a laugh, "Oh it's on. See you on the other side of the sun!" Then he tore off like a sunbeam pulling the hill eager to see the prize but also the ability to see Oleander moving ahead of him. He was a strong buck as his tail sailed behind him like a flag. Tsarine pulling his head outward chased after his friend grinning, "Who will it be"? he playfully chortled as his hooves kicked up small stones sending hem flying, continuing to remain perfectly matched with Oleander.

User Image Hearing the clop of hooves behind him, he could tell his companion was close behind him. The steps were getting closer and he could almost feel the breath of Tsarine on his tail. This was figurative of course. A grin still on his face, Oleander slowed up ever so slightly to get himself to be neck and neck with his companion.

"Lovely day for a run, wouldn't you say?" he laughed as they went on.

A head of him the silver trees drew ever closer and the fruit becoming more visible. It was just about now that he started putting on the breaks. Some of the branches were low and he wasn't looking to get brained on them or have one catch him in the throat. He liked his head where it was...

"That was exhilarating!"

Tsarine's intensely competitive nature really kicked in with all his effort to reach the grove first. Unfortunately, Oleander had stopped just in time whereas his friend crashed into the fruit grove scrambling to get a hold of his footing before crashing into a base of the tree. Various branches poked him while he made his way out to the front again. Groaning he grumbled shaking the last branches out of his mane and he cringed from a scrape freshly cut into his cheek.

"You could have warned me" he muttered still shaking his mane.

Aya couldn't help but chuckle at Tsarine. He was such an ambitious boy that he forgot common sense sometimes. She, however, wasn't keen on getting poked by branches.

Noting he'd dislodged a couple of fruit made him embarrassed. Well, they didn't have to pry one-off the trees now. Fixing himself to a better mindset he looked at Oleander with a smile, "Now then think this place needs some more magical healing before we take our prize back to Wanderlust?"

In truth, he was hurting but it wasn't severe. This place needed a lot of work if it was ever going to fully recover. Every little bit of magic helps his mind was whispering.

User Image Oleander cringed slightly as his companion tumbled into the grove. Seems his speed was greater then his own, but if he had been a bit younger Oleander would have done the same thing. Giving a small chuckle, he looked around at the grove, the silver trees and fruit that were hanging from them. Seems life found a way to keep going where all else surrendered.

An ear twitched as Tsarine muttered something that made him chuckle again. "Sorry about that." he said stepping over to Tsarine as it seemed that two fruit had fallen when he crashed into the trees here.

Oleander tilted his head at the mention of using magics here. He looked around once more, the place could use more light, but he wanted to try something else. Really the resilience of the trees. Sure they stood up to the tests of time. But how was their resistance to shifting Temps? He was sure that these trees could handle it, but there was always consequences.

"It could use a lot of magical healing." Oleander agreed. "Did you have an idea in mind on what to try?" He glanced at Tsarine. "I picked what we did last, this time it is your turn."

[Tsarine nodded to Olelander knowing exactly what his mind was wondering. If these groves really were resilient then a little game of hit vs cold was in order just like the ruins. This time though he opted to go first flicking an ear before trotting over to one of the smaller trees. This one will work just fine I think" he announced turning to look at Oleander, "Same as the ruins. I think this little guy could use some healing, don't you think?"

Straightening his stance while nurturing his confidence this time knowing his magic that was eager to do as it was asked. "Alright, we're going to reverse what we did the first time. I'll use warmth to let solar energy soak in those roots while you use cool to also give some moisture. I'm pretty sure these trees won't really feel anything, then again, nor will we."

Glancing solely at the adolescent tree he concentrated, eyes closing to summon his magic. As always his entire being tingled as the earth of the sun reached out to entwine around the smaller tree. Controlling it this time he was able to keep the temperature at an even summer's day warmth while letting the tree soak in some light it probably never sensed before. As his eyes reopened he called over to Oleander, "Alright now it's your turn to use cool so this tree knows how comfortable Homewood is to live within". His idea was mirroring the fact the controlled heat along with coolness is what Homewood was simplified as being called a paradise.

This poor grove barely received sunlight yet it was growing mysteriously even on the bleakest days.

User Image The tree was chosen, smaller then the rest, still growing and unable to bare fruit like its larger counter parts. Oleander gave the tree a once over nudging it ever so slightly with his nose before he looked at Tsarine. The plan was a nice one, warm the ground while he cooled the air to create a moisture, a dew of sorts to let the leave and such soak it in.

"Lets give this a try." he agreed before Tsarine had begun. The ait around him started to warm before it was focused on one point. Waiting for his chance, Oleander admired the control that his companion was learning and he hoped that even his own was getting better. When he was told that it was his turn, Oleander closed his own eyes.

Reaching deep into his core for his magic. Outwardly he exhaled the steam of his breath puffed out as if it were cold. The space around him started to chill, hitting the warmth from Tsarine water droplets started to form over the leaves of the tree. As he focused more it almost seemed to rain on the tree from the mix of the temperatures.

Seemed even though they were Solar, they could still work together and create something out of almost nothing..

Tsarine watched carefully as Oleander conducted his magic also keeping things controlled. The young buck had t admit that his friend had more experience yet, they worked together as a significant team. This made the warmth inside surge knowing he was finally accepted, capable of many things. As the magic containing warmth returned to slumber he couldn't help but smile from the experiment that created a paradise for a wayward tree. Perhaps years to come they'd visit this same tree and see if any progress was made.

Stretching he drew in close to Oleander, "That worked out quite well. Look that little tree seems to be enjoying the attention". Both magic combined literally created a greenhouse effect leaving little droplets of water delicately falling to the devastated ground. It was minuscule yet, it was an accomplishment for a new adept Buck. Turning to look back at the fruit that had been loosened earlier he chuckled to himself. At least there wouldn't be any trouble bringing back any fruit for their effort. He was just about to retrieve one of the fallen fruits until he looked up noting they were high above the damned forest. As the mist settled below there seemed to be a strange forlorn peacefulness settling in the area. while he traversed the pathways he felt uneasy. Now, overlooking the flowing river and dam he felt sadness instead. Once again he pondered how this grove of trees actually was alive and thriving.

Turning back to Oleander he smiled, "We should return to Homewood before darkness sets in and this mist overtake even the grove. I knocked loose two fruits which is plenty enough for each of us to take back".

User Image Letting his own magic ease back from whence it came, Oleander opened his eyes and looked down at the tree that seemed to almost sparkle more brightly then those around it. Seems that their little magic show had done something to help at least. This brought a smile to him as he glanced at his companion.

"Much like a foal a stream for the first time." He said as Tsarine stepped over to collect one of the two fruits that had fallen when he crashed into the tree. "Heading home sounds like a wonderful idea. We have done what we can for now." He nodded as he too walked over.

Nosing at the strange fruit that laid on the ground he soon picked it up and tucked it away in his pouch. He wasn't going to risk Shiny getting hungry and eating it before they reaching home. Glancing up towards the skies, the sun was indeed starting to sink into the distance and they still had the Barrens to cross before reaching Homewood.

"Come on, you can crash at my place if you'd like. It's a little messy, but I am sure we can find a place." Oleander said as he turned to lead the way back down hill and towards home. Shiny fast asleep in its basket..
