As strange as it was hearing him say that made Sylvirah feel a little better. It didn't take away the awkwardness of her situation or the tension being in this home brought her, but let her breath a little easier.
She was so close to just leaving, and then Snowelle came back. Sylvirah knew better than to just walk out on the woman; she wouldn't take no for an answer, and would likely chase her out into the street. "Father's out on a trip." The lie was painful to say and that word, father, crept out of her mouth like something diseased. "He'll be back soon and he wanted me to tell you that he misses you very much." That last bit was true. She'd seen the way he looked as they passed in the inn hallway. He may have cheated on his wife, may have tried covering it up, but underneath it all Grashni really cared for her.
"Can you...tell me a little about him? I didn't...spend as much time around him as you two did."

Having taken the empty glass, Ergon set it down onto one of the side tables. He was relieved to hear Sylvirah's response to Snowelle. It also stung. What followed did surprise him, and he kept his gaze on the glass. He wasn't sure he could talk about his father...
Snowelle sighed and shook her head. "Of course he is. That man loves his business trips. I just wish he would time them a little better." Waving her hand, she indicated for Sylvirah to follow her to the seats by the fireplace. "Well, he will be getting his own scolding when he returns. For now, let us get things back in order." For herself, she was more than willing to talk. "Honestly, I see much of him in you. Believe it or not, I remember before he even began courting me how he desired to be his own man and wild like you kids. Of course, we have our expectations." She chuckled lightly, giving Sylvirah that same distant look but with an actual hint of play in her eyes. "Did I ever tell you about our honeymoon?"

"I have a hard time believing he was anything like me." Sylvirah thought the only 'wild' thing about that man was his one night out. Everything else seemed rather bland, honestly. He lived a comfortable life with a steady job, away from the harsher realities of living outside a settlement.
"No, you never told me about it." She needed to leave, could feel that energy coming from Ergon, but Sylvirah knew she was trapped. It wasn't nearly as vicious as she'd expected, but Snowelle had her 'claws' in. Until another opportunity presented itself she couldn't leave and hopefully he understood that.
...And strangely enough, the nicest part about coming to this place was Snowelle. She had been the person that Sylvirah feared most, but in a way looking after her was grounding. One day, maybe soon, she would snap out of it and start screaming but at least no one was running her off.

Snowelle smirked knowingly. "Ah, Sylvi, we were all young at some point. Life catches up to all of us. Now, after we got married, your father still had a little of that spark in him, and he wanted our honeymoon to be something special..." She happily went on to describe their trip, savoring the memories of happier times.
With nothing more to do than sit and watch over the ladies, Ergon sat himself down on the couch to wait it out. As much as it hurt, it really was nice to see Snowelle looking so... animated. At least, as close to animated as she could get in her state. Trying to tune out the chatter, he turned his focus to devising a way to get Snowelle back into the kitchen so that their day could move on. Whatever might cut this strange party short.

Sylvirah didn't know if she should be happy or horrified to hear about how this man, her father, had a 'wild youth'. She supposed it must have been natural for all men; after all when she was a kid and the tribe had more members it wasn't unheard of for the younger men to do wild things to impress others. Especially if they wanted to take them home.
Ergon wasn't fighting it, so she stayed. At times she piped in a question or two, but on the whole she mostly just let Snowelle talk. It was more consciousness then she'd seen out of the woman so maybe it would do her good to talk a while.
And once she was good and tired Sylvirah would just sneak out.
