This seemed like a bad idea. Even as Narcissus moved to chase after whoever Rakovanite had seen through the trees, he couldn’t help but feel like it was a mistake. Wouldn’t it have been better for him to stay with the other man so they could leave the park together. That way, if they were attacked, they’d at least have each other. Even if Narcissus couldn’t throw a punch to save his life and the agent had been nearly passed out when he found him.
Oh, this could not be any worse!
Narcissus saw and felt nothing as he approached where the being had stepped out a view, and as he looked for the ethereal figure, he continued to see and feel nothing. “Hello?” He asked quietly into the copse of trees, but there was no answer. He didn’t know if that was good (perhaps no one was here! The dark of night and decorations of the park were playing tricks on them) or bad (someone was here and concealing themself, waiting for the opportunity to strike).
“If someone is there, we mean no harm,” he offered as he stepped around some of the foliage off the path. Still, nothing, and to make matters worse, the aura he hadn’t even realized he’d been feeling flicked away. It was like a little light going out, and the second it was gone, Narcissus became horrifically frightened?
“Rakovanite?” He called as he whipped around. The trees blocked his view of where he left the agent, so Narcissus scrambled back the way he’d come. “Are you there? Please say something!” But as he emerged onto the path it was to see that no one was anywhere.
He’d never found whatever figure he’d been tracking, and the agent he’d left sitting here was gone as well. There were no auras to speak of, no sound of struggle, no sound of footprints on the grass or bodies crashing through the trees. There was just… nothing. He was alone. And now he didn’t know if that was good or bad. He’d only been gone a moment...
His thoughts tumbled messily over each other. Surely no one had been attacked, he would’ve heard something! Rakovanite had wanted away from him and had admitted to having a way to travel through shadows. Maybe he’d simply left? That ethereal thing may not have been a person at all- they hadn’t had a chance to identify it. He was alone, alone, alone out her in this gorgeously decorated park, and he didn’t know if he should be scared of an assault or confused at how quickly everything had just… Vanished.
He spent another half hour searching the woods. He wanted to make sure Rakovanite was safe or try to understand the figure they’d seen, but no one appeared. Nothing else of significance happened.
At some point, he had to call it quits and go home, hoping that no one was any worse for wear...
