Ishara watched Mafa, carrying a dead pup. "Indeed... I do apollogise.. I came here seeking peace, and I apollogise for intruding at such a time. I also apollogise for the loss of a would-be heir. I will return, when the rains come back to the grasslands outside, and I will bring you all no harm, only to ask that we not rip each other apart for something as useless as pride. After all..." She eyed the hyenas. "An entire clan of hyenas can be whiped out by the jelousey and pride of another as they fight to their very doom." Her tail flicked. "And at the same time, lions are no different with each other's prides. Though we are different on the outside, and we have different customs, deep down... We are all the same." She turned then, heading up a rise. "We are the same, your clan and my pride..." Her green eyes turned back to the hyenas assembled. "Remind your leader of this. We all scrape an existance out of these bones, and when I return, I will bring a proposition of peace." Her contrasting form moved up and along back to the outer graveyard, mind turning over and over. Next time, she would bring Ausha and possibly that new guard... Other lions so she wasn't alone, simply for protection.

The arrival of Mafa with the dead pup in her mouth made the juve fall silent with respect. Seeing it hang dead, with the alpha's comfirmation that it was 'no good', made him whine softly. He didn't know it had been a female but any loss of a hyena was a loss for the pack. Especially one that had been a pup of the alpha.

Turning back to the lion he was somewhat satisfied that she had heeded him and appologised for showing up. But he snorted at the mention of peace. The intruders, the ones who came into the hyena's lands, now wanted peace with them?! It made him laugh sacastically.

"Scrape by an existance, hah! They chose to come into the graveyard. If the lions are finding it so tough they're welcome to leave. Hyenas belong here though, and it's the only place lions tolerate us living anyway." But the pride's queen had already left and Rasuli spoke mostly to himself and the other hyenas present. If the feline dared come back he'd be there to have his input.

Turning to the larger brown hyena beside him, he gave a nod. "Rasuli." He gave his name. "Mafa invited me into the pack a while ago. You?" He glanced to the skull den their alpha had emerged from. "And Mafa's had her pups. I knew they were coming but not right now. But... if there's only one son left then there's no future alpha...."

He walked quickly to the entrance of Mafa's skull den. The blood scent was strongest here and peering in he could see it on the ground where a newborn pup squirmed. Mafa and Tuk's remaining son.

In the dusty innards of the skull den, there lay a single, squirming creature among all the discarded after birth. It was making a terrible racket, crying and squealing, whining as best a newborn pup could. Everything was so new! And he didn't like it one bit. There was bad smelling dust in his nose and mouth, and it stuck to him as well, matting his still gooey fur. The little pup dug his nails into the hard ground, pulling himself around the den inch by inch, attempting to find his mother.

It was so cold out here in this new world of his, the poor nameless pup had just been in his mother's nice, warm womb just minutes ago, but after being expelled from it, nothing quite seemed to make sense. The pup continued crawling blindly around the den, searching for his dissapeared mother.

"Tibuka, same here. "

Pups, huh? Inside hi mind, the male was chuckling, so Mafa had pups? He walks around the skull, on the other side, as this Rasuli was blocking that one, and peeked in, the pup, being newborn, still had rather dark colors, even if his lighter grey stuck out easly. His ears bend back, annoyed with the pups squeals, but hestreches forward to sniff it curiously; though, nothing smelled good that soon after birth, and his lips curled a bit in disgust of the odd smell.

He drags a paw in to poke it rather curiously, even if he barely touches the pups fur, before pulling out of the skull. His shoulders hunch untill he lifts his head, peering over the skull to look at Rasuli, though his ears were still back thans to its whines.

"Noisy little thing, innit? "

He can't help but snort, how could something so small, make so much noise...?

Tukutu's ears swiveled around his head as all these actions happened in front of him. What a great time to daze off into nothing, idiot! Tukutu watched as mafa emerged from the skull...with a child. Tuk's heart was just about to raise until he noticed that the child was dead. He drooped his head, leaving Mafa alone. He certainly didn't want to deal with her temper, especially if a child of her's had died. Her motherly insticts had been driving him nuts lately, and this was something that he definately dind't want to deal with anymore. Just as he was about to sulk off and wait for mafa to return, her heard the noises of a pup coming from where mafa had left. Another pup? Well, he might as well check it out, since it was his child. But...just what was a parent supposed to do? His had never treated him well, enough that Tukutu just left and cut out on his own. So...what was to say that this little runt was going to be anything different? Hell, he had two of the worst parents probably any mutt could ever have. Except for a lion, of course.

Wrinkling his nose, Tukutu plopped his way into the skull, noticing the still sticky pup whining and crawing around the ground, eyes still glued shut. Oh great, what a lovely mess that Mafa left for him. Just....goody. Ewww. Tukutu would take a cracass covered in vulture crap over this little mewling brat. But...things to do. Mafa would probably not be happy if this rat died too. Grunting to himself, Tukutu ignored all else and inched forward to the pup, nudging against the sticky thing with his nose. Phew! What a smell! He wondered if he'd ever forget the smell...and if so, it'd better happen fast.

Rasuli acknowledged Tibuka's introduction with a slight nod, but he was more curious in the little hairball in Mafa's den. Had he been like that not too long ago? Whining and crawling around in such a mess. Of course didn't remember.

"Yeah, very noisy. What's it want?" He replied to Tib and then hurriedly made way for Tukutu. The supposed father of the pup didn't seem to know much either. All three males just appeared equally confused by this new life!

"So what's its name Tukutu?"

"Maybe its.. Hungry. Do you think its big enough to eat a mouse? See if it bites! "

He might seem awfully childish now, but he had no memory of drinking milk, and as a male, the clue was much shorted. He peers in through the skull's eye cavity. He inhaled deeply, making his fur prickle once more in disgust for the creature's smell. He clambers on top of the skull, peering down as Tukutu's head vanished inside, before sliding off once more.

Hyena pups were born with teeth, so maybe it did eat meat?

"Maybe it smelled the lion. "

Perhaps Tibuka didn't quite understand that a newborn pup woulden't tell the difference between a lion and a hyena smell very quickly.

Within a short time of her escape from the crowded den, Mafa had nearly made it to her destination. Her dead offspring swung to and fro in her now gentle grip, dripping small droplets of it's blood onto the ground as Mafa walked. She really hadn't meant to bite down on it, but that lion had bothered her. It was all that lion's fault. The female sneered to herself, her trot slowing as she came upon the intended area. Before her lay a cave, which both held and was surrounded by eerie green geisers. This was the little spot of land which she had fought with the little lion to protect, this, to Mafa, was a hallowed ground of sorts.

Slowly and cautiously, she laced her way through the hot geisers, making her way to the mouth of the cave. Her icy expression softened as she walked within it, heading to the very back. There, in the back, there lay a small collection of what seemed to be hyena bones. And indeed hyena bones they were. These bones were all that was left of Mafa's old pack, the family she had been born into. Long ago, when Mafa was still a naive pup, they had been slaughtered by lions. Not long ago, she had found their remains and brought them here. Now, this would be the final resting place for her daughter as well. Slowly, Mafa laid the pup's corpse next to the bundle of bones that already occupied the space. She stepped back slowly, gazing at the pitiful sight with sad eyes,

"Maiti, a dead body, all you ever will be"

Mafa's ears pressed back, a low whine emerging from her throat. Her only chance for an heir was now gone, all she had left was that damn boy, whose name she hadn't yet thought of. Wiping all sense of emotion clear from her face, Mafa turned and trotted out of the cave, leaving the dead to be and returning to her pack. When she was at the den, she stopped a few feet from it. All she saw were a few hyena butts sticking out from the mouth of the skull, their heads inside and investigating the pup. Mafa frowned and huffed, raising her head to adress her males,

"Well?"

-------------------

Back in Mafa's den, the little pup was vaguely confused on all that was happening. There were new scents in the den, yet he didn't know what they meant. He simply kept squealing away, trying to call his mother back. But alas, he calls fell upon deaf ears, he was in a den full of other males, ones that were as clueless as it got. Suddenly, something poked his soft, squishy side, causing him to roll over onto his side. This made him stop his cries for a few moments as he tried to correct the error and roll himself back onto his stomach. It was tough, but he finally got there after a few moments, and once he was back on his stomach, his cries started up again relentlessly. There was no stopping him.

The muddy colored male blinked, lifting his head from peeking through the elephants eye cavity to look at the pups mother who had returned, ears flat to die out the whining pup. "Noisy and stinky, I daresay. " He said, not appearing to give a damn if this pup was Mafa's or not, anyone would have to agree that it was noisy!

"Hear pups be born deaf.Prolly can't hear himself whining. " Tibuka muttered, glancing sideway were he could see the wiggling pup through the eye cavity. "Sorry 'bout the other one, though. " He mumbled, finding it perhaps a sad thing to loose a pup, not to himself, but probably the mother would mind, right?

Mafa pushed herself through the line of males standing at her den opening. Slowly, she padded to the pup, nudging it with her nose roughly. The thing only sqealed more. Her eyes narrowed as she stepped back, her gaze jumping up to the boys. A quick snarl errupted,

"Leave me, I've no need for any of you here"

Her tone shot ice at the males, as did her glare. She didn't want any of them near her, not even Tukutu, the father of her pups... pup. Watching them back away, Mafa laid down next to the pup, cleaning it only when all the others were out of her sight. Sorrow burdened her heart for her daughter, it was a new emotion, one that would only make Mafa more resilliant in the future, but for now, she was heartbroken. Sadly, she nudged her remaining pup, might as well keep it alive, as useless as it is...
