There was something about him that reminded her of herself back when she'd first been starting out, back when Scholomance had taken out his false teeth to warn her about the Negaverse and she'd smiled sadly and tried to accept the danger and death of it all. She'd felt very brave every time she went out after that, up until she'd met the wolf-general and everything had fallen apart. She'd never been quite as protective as Duncan, but she'd thought that she could help the world in other ways.
She was trying to learn to think like that again.
"Stay away from generals," she said, voice steadier. "At least for now. That should help with the worst of it. You should be able to feel them before they feel you, and then you run." Her voice was quite serious. That was the lesson she'd learned. Softly, she added, "And if you need more guidance, you have me, now."
She would do whatever she could for a fellow Neptune knight who had already saved her life once.
"Well, my biggest other project is fixing up space and learning from it, but we've already talked about that nearly as much as we can on this planet," she said, the soft smile finally creeping back. Not that she would have minded laying out every detail of her wonder right then and there, but she did want to leave a little for Sumner to discover on his own when they went to explore together. "I also have a little bit of a dream of setting up some sort of community support so that the Negaverse and its desperate measures have less appeal, but that's going to take a lot of logistics."
Her tone was a little dismissive, as she could feel herself sinking deep into the couch again. It was late and she was finally feeling warm and she really didn't want to talk logistics.
