For a while, it felt like there was a tangled knot of thoughts and emotions, a heavy weight of uncertainty that kept her from making rash decisions.
Reserved.
Cautious.
Testing the waters slowly instead of jumping in carelessly. But last night… last night was different. They were different…
Her eyes were open to that now. Their mutations made them different, made them unique. No longer humans but half youma. All of these were facts she already knew but acknowledging the truth and accepting them were two vastly different concepts.
Almost a year spent in this body, a scaled form that had scared her the first time she caught sight of her own reflection. Wanting nothing more than to believe that the glamor she wore was her true skin and that this was an illusion, a dream she would soon wake up from. But then he broke the chains that bound her in isolation and showed her things she never knew, could never imagine about the world she lived in and about herself.
Wolframite made her want to be more than she was, to be stronger or tactful, more confident in herself and her abilities. Beyond that she wanted him to see how far she’d come, this was the life she wanted to live, the future she chose for herself, a break in the path set forth by the agent that had forcibly corrupted her on a whim eleven months ago.
Where there was a seed of uncertainty, born from the unknown of what would happen when they returned home from this trip that had become an escape from reality, now bloomed one of hope. Hope for a future of new memories with someone she truly cared for and daresay…
Loved. The thought surprised her but the emotion felt true and with Wolframite’s paws resting on her hips while he trailed kisses over her scales and the sensitive skin along the edge of them Laven could feel a wave of warmth wash over her, a blush that stained her pale skin a light pink and the blue hue a pale lavender along the edges.
His attentions and affections were like a drug and she had to bury her face in his shoulder to keep herself from giving in so easily.
“Not fair.” She whispered breathlessly then lifted her head and turned to brush her lips along the edge of his soft wolf-like ears. “Leave something for the imagination.” Her words betrayed her own greedy wants now that she had a taste of how far they could go. But the last thing she wanted was to move too quickly. They both had ghosts from their pasts that kept them from jumping in completely and for that reason alone she wanted to take it slow.
New was exciting…
But in a moment of excitement is when things usually break and this moment here with him was too precious to let it shatter into nothing because of greed or impatience.
“When we come back inside I’ll let you take it off. Until then, you get to guess what color I’ll be wearing.” Laven playfully teased then pressed a kiss against his temple and nuzzled his cheek affectionately in return. “Deal?”
