Fettelite was genuinely surprised at how well prepared Dory seemed to be. She knew where the fire escape was, and even had a window propped open.
A small voice in his head told him that Dory would probably make an excellent Negaverse Agent with his sneaky she was, but he kept that thought to himself. As good as she’d be with it, it still wasn’t a place he thought she should go.
She was way too nice for that.
“I’ve been to that Cinnabon before! When did you come by and do all this though?” He asked, following her up until she got to the window. “Did you do come check this place out before? And I got us on that! No broken windows, and I can teleport us right in!”

"Ah," Adorea closed the window carefully behind them and began to walk quietly down the steps towards the emergency stairwell. It wouldn't be long before they got down to the actual shopping levels and they'd be able to stretch their legs properly.
"I get cold," she admitted and shrugged her shoulders. "I don't know why they decided we should all look like this when it can be really cold and rainy out, if we're magical then at the very least we should be able to... You know, repel the rain and cold or something," she paused briefly and swept the door open with a smile.
Shiny floors and warmth greeted them.
"So when it gets too much I head indoors and look out from places that aren't going to freeze my nose off," she shrugged. "I know someone probably wouldn't be happy with me if they found out that I was technically trespassing but... It's either this or I end up too cold to be useful, you know?"
She could be honest to a fault sometimes and it was clear that she was a problem-solver in these situations even if, morally speaking, it put her in a bit of a grey area to some.

"Awww... Nah, I getcha! It's kinda the same for me. You're outside in the cold or in the rain and standing one of those manholes with the steam coming out is a good way to get burned. Do you keep a coat or an umbrella in your magic pocket? I learned about that not too long ago! We got little magic pockets we can store stuff in! ... I have no idea how to explain how to use it, but once you can, you can keep all sorts of stuff in it." Once they were inside and warm once again, he reached into his space pocket, his hand seemingly disappearing into nothing, and then came back with a zip lock bag. Inside of it seemed to be... Skittles.
"See! Snacks! I put a coat in there before, and a sandwich, so I'm sure you have one too! magical nonsense!"
Sometimes magic could be useful, and one of those times was when he knew he'd have to be outside for a long time. It was a good place to stick in a bunch of warming pads too!
"But yeah, way better to just come inside. It's not like you're hurting anyone in the first place, and besides, if they didn't want people to use the Heat, then they should just turn it off at night, right?"

"Oh...so you get them too?" She watched as his hand disappeared and then grinned at the Skittles, she could appreciate those priorities to say the least. "I haven't really worked out how to use those," she admitted and shrugged her shoulders. She would have to sit down and figure it out though, if only so that she too could store snack-based wonders in there for when she was peckish... Although she supposed bringing a coat would also be a smart choice.
"I'll figure it out someday," she added with a reassuring smile.
"For now though I don't think they mind me being in here or they would have chased me out by now," she mused. Again, Fettel did make a good point in regards to the heat. While the building did need to have an operational temperature to prevent things from freezing over, the fact it maintained a more comfortable heat did imply that it should be used!
"You know I didn't know those things could burn you though?" she raised a brow. "You'd think they'd design that flaw away at some point," she clucked her tongue and continued on her way towards the outlet, pausing briefly to admire a few outfits in various windows as they passed certain clothing stores.
"Do you have to stay out in the cold much yourself?" she added after a moment of thought. She hadn't really worked out how the Negaverse functioned but she had always assumed that if they found a victim they could handle it and then immediately retreat to more favourable conditions!

"Hmm... As an alternative, you could go out with a coat on, lay it on the ground, power up, then put the coat back on. I've done that a few times too, when I can remember a coat. Buuuuut inside, nope, don't gotta worry about that at all!" Instead, he could use that space for important things.
Like skittles. And chocolate, since it didn't melt in the summer inside the little void!
"I honestly have no idea how those things worked. One minute it's a nice toasty sauna, the next, my skin is red for a week! I guess they never really considered people just enjoying the warmth on top of it. Which makes sense, it's water heating routes for major buildings, not a bath house or anything." His own eyes went to a giant poster, advertising some game about apples and axes. And then another about going 'to the first'. Final Fantasy 14 did just trop an expansion last year, didn't they? With everything going on, he completely forgot about it.
"Huh? Oh! Yeah, so back before I could teleport, I couldn't really do much like go in and out of the Negaverse. It's... Super complicated, but I kinda lived there, rather than having a home here in the real world? But now that I can teleport, it's become alot easier! I can do just that, cept I try to make sure the people I have to take energy from are safe and warm too. I don't want anyone to die in weather like this."

Weird, so if they didn't know how to teleport they were either stuck on the inside or the outside? She couldn't see how that would end well if someone didn't like you, knowing her luck she'd end up around someone really unpleasant who would conveniently forget about her in the middle of winter, in the middle of nowhere. With that in mind it probably would have been in her best interests to learn to bring a coat too!
...Actually, maybe she'd just store one in there like he suggested.
"That's very considerate of you," she smiled. Once again, Fettelite was proving that he wasn't quite as callous as everyone else. Whatever had brought him to be part of the Negaverse was lost her when he his natural disposition seemed to fit her side so much better. However, if there was at least someone like him on that side then at the very least even the vulnerable could be saved sometimes.
"So uh... Asking the awkward question here," she winced.
"How often do you need to hurt people like that?" she asked quietly. "Like, drain them and leave them just... Lying there," she continued. She wouldn't imply that they were dead as a fair number would obviously survive, particularly if they were found by him, but she did have to wonder if there was some sort of bare minimum they were supposed to do.

"Nah, it's not too awkward! It's like asking about a job except... People are awkwardly involved... Okay, so maybe it's a little awkward." He tried to laugh it off, giving her a reassuring smile that he wasn't bothered by it. More than anything, he would have thought Dory herself would have been bothered by the situation.
"Well, it depends. My boss gives me a number, and I gotta do it. I was told before it's like picking oranges on a farm. You have to pick a certain number before you can rest. And I try to be better than just leaving them there... If it's cold, I take them to like, rest rooms, and use their phones to call 911, or make sure they're safe from youmas. I don't like doing it, but... The alternative is worse." The yelling, beatings, and before he could teleport, being stranded... It was easier to drain people and apologize than to suffer through that.
"Oh, but uh, Does your side have anything like that? How do you guys stay so strong?"

So in the grand scheme of things, to the Negaverse, humans were just cattle. Her nose wrinkled at that, while she as sure there were people in the world that would point out humans did the exact same thing with farm animals, she still consider humanity to be somewhat different than the average herd of livestock. That didn't mean that living creatures weren't all entitled to a measure of dignity in life, but when it came to humans... There was something about debasing and degrading them to that level that didn't sit well with her.
At least if folks like Fettelite were there, some people would stay safe and she would do what she could to remind herself of that.
"Uh, no not really," she shook her head as she came to a halt outside the Cinnabon and peered through the shutters into the shop front. All the chairs were flipped up inside and the floors had been swept clean. Even the foot had been packed away back in to storage for the day which meant they might even get lucky and manage to find something prepared... That might work out better for her considering her own inability to bake properly.
"We're just as strong as we are," she admitted. "We wake up at a certain strength and then I guess as we get used to what we are we get stronger," she pursed her lips. "Apparently our planets give us power, or something like that anyway...We don't need to take power from anyone because the planet wants to give us the power instead."

"... You know, that sounds really nice. Having another place to call home, in a way. That's what it sounds like. A home you pull power from, instead of people." Maybe if he hadn't been found that night when the house burned down, he would have found his own path, and could have become a knight.
That would have been much better.
"Ah, but before we keep getting sad, you ready to teleport in? It should be as easy as one two three!"

"...Maybe you have one out there somewhere too?" she suggested. She didn't really know how things worked, how senshi were regarded as special in regards to planetary power and that Knights received their power from something else. Granted, the energy source was still on the same planet but the overall complexity of it was lost on her. Regardless, it was nice for the more naive senshi to imagine that maybe he did have something out there and they just didn't know it yet.
"Mmm, but I wonder what would happen if you did and your bosses found out," she added and shook her head, would they take it for their own, could they even do that?
"Let's go inside, I can practically taste the icing from here and I can't even see it yet!" she agreed with an enthusiastic nod and held out her arm, this was yet another thing she didn't really know how to do so she'd have to let Fettelite to the most of the work!

"Maybe... I got my barracks room for now, though I don't think that really counts, hmm?" He laughed a little at that. A dorm room could hardly be a private space, not when the higher ups could search it without a moment's notice. "I'd think they'd find a way to exploit it. That's what they do. Find something that is strange and find a way to make use of it."
Either way, that didn't matter. What did matter was that icing just on the other side of this door! He took her arm, and then immediately, they were popped to the other side, as if they had simply took a step forward.
"Tada~ .... And now I need to sit down, Whew!" Fettelite wiped his brow with the back of his hand, body feeling heavy. He was only just getting used to teleporting and.. well, Doing that with someone else was a whole nother layer of exhaustion. Maybe he should sit down for a spell or two.

...That made sense, they did drain things and if the planets had any type of power in them then it would make sense that the Negaverse would take it. It was probably for the best that if he had one then he didn't have the chance to find it for now. Maybe if his situation changed they could go on an adventure to find it but for now she would work under the assumption that wouldn't be happening any time soon.
Sure she'd learnt about purification, she knew it was a 'thing', but she didn't know how it worked and to be entirely honest she wasn't convinced many people would pursue it. There was something about the Negaverse that held them prisoner there and she couldn't quite work out what that was yet.
"Are you ok?" she furrowed her brow as he took a seat and looked around quickly for something to give him. Was he low on sugar or was teleportation that hard for him? Ah, maybe she would have been more cautious about accepting the offer if she'd know!
"Do I need to get you some water, sugar... ?"

”Mhm, I’m fine just.... A tiny, itty, bitty bit tired. Hehe, sugar sounds good though.” The idea of suddenly pouring a huge amount of sugar down his mouth sounded both disgusting and hilarious.
“But if we’re going to have cookies, I might not be able to taste it. Just give me a few moments, okay? Do you have the recipe for the cookies? I don’t think I’ve seen it yet.”

She squinted.
"You won't be able to taste the sugar or you won't be able to taste the cookies?" she asked. It seemed like a stupid question but for some reason she went down that path as she flapped about for her phone. Amazingly, for someone who didn't seem to know how to use her space pocket, she sure knew how to shove things into it instinctively. Eventually she managed to retrieve her phone from it, even if she failed to acknowledge where it had come from and plunked it down on the table.
"I have the rumoured secret recipe here," she replied as she sat down and began to scroll through the phone, eventually she found what she was looking for though. There was a forum on the screen and a recipe in it with several comments underneath declaring that the OP happened to be a hero.
"You can always read it off for me and I'll do the heavy lifting," she grinned and waved towards it as she set it down again. "You might feel better after that, you know?"

"The cookies, silly! You know how if you have something super duper sweet, it numbs you to anything else that may be slightly less sweet? Like eating a cupcake, then eating an orange. They kinda cancel eachother out. Then you're just left with gross beitter grossness. And no one wants that!" Maybe laughter was the best fuel, because as he spoke with Dory, his body felt a little lighter. Or maybe it was just being around her. They did mesh very well after all!
"Oooh, yes, I can do that!" he held out his hand, wanting to peek at the recipe himself. "How long is this going to take? I bet I could get one of those slushy or lemonade machines working to sip on something in the meantime! I'm sure that won't take too much energy!"
