Arias laughed softly. "If we go to my wonder, I've a ghost there that's a little too lively to let us rest. He's very nosy." He hadn't meant it as an insult and had talked to Nick often of the Newgrange of Old--the ghost that couldn't rest, and stalked the halls with silent steps. Whose eyes were full of knowledge and emotion, no matter how hard he tried to hide it. Arias had learned very little about the man, but it hadn't made him any less interested.
He'd kept his secrets for centuries, so his time with Arias must have been nothing.
He could only hope he'd have those answers soon.
Arias kept playing with Nick's hair.
"...I've been looking into adoption, too, though," he confessed. "...My mother hasn't stopped asking me for grandkids either." Still, a little smile danced on his face at the idea of her harassing Nick about it, too. "I hadn't applied or anything. I just. Looked into it. We could afford it, you know. I mean, if you wanted to."
...His heart was pounding a little; he could figure it was what Nick wanted if he was looking into it already, but he wanted to hear Nick say it--that they should. To know that it's what they were planning for. To know that there was a future, a family, for them.

Nick laughed softly at the thought of the ghost at Arias’ wonder and he seemed thoughtful. “Yeah, if there’s someone there who will watch us enjoy our marriage…perhaps that isn’t the best of ideas…”
He hesitated when Arias mentioned that he too had been looking into adoption and for a moment, Nick couldn’t quite think. There was a strange buzzing in his head as he tried to work through what had been said and finally he simply beamed. “…Let’s do it. When we’re married. Let’s look harder into adopting a child. I don’t want to let your mother down…and I’d like the sound of laughter to fill our home…besides…there would be no better father in the whole world than you, Arias…”
Quietly he twisted around to kiss the male lightly, grinning. “…Let’s even…do you want to look into it tonight? Maybe start figuring out where to start? It can take a while, can’t it? We should get started so we can be parents together.”

It was hard for Arias not to outright buzz with excitement; on one hand, he was relieved that Nick had something else to distract his thoughts from his leg.
...On the other hand, he genuinely wanted this, phenomenally so. His chest ached with yearning and he nodded. "You flatter me, I'm certain there would be plenty of fathers better than myself. But I would do my best. I know that we both would."
He continued to tease Nick's hair, too excited to worry that his heart was pounding so loudly that it might deafen the man resting against his chest.
"It can take a while. We could foster, first, if we wanted. But we can submit applications to be parents, I'm sure. They have to run a background check, get references. That could take time. And there's no harm in being ready to adopt, for when we find the right child? Although, I don't think I'm picky. Someone to love, someone who needs love. Boy, girl. Even age doesn't matter to me. I'd like to get two, I think. I grew up with Carlee, and there's just...there's something reassuring about having a sibling. You've got a best friend, someone to watch your back, no matter what. I don't know," he laughed softly. "But I do know that I want to do this. With you."

Nick enjoyed the pounding sound of Arias’ heart, it made him feel warm and safe. Protected.
“I would love to foster. But I…I think it will be hard to let any of them go. Especially if they’re not going back to anywhere good…” He yawned, stretching and wiggling his toes. Both sets of toes.
The male paused and gave a little sigh, relaxing as he thought that he just might be melting. He wasn’t nearly as cold any longer…but at the same time…he couldn’t quite permit himself to draw attention to that fact…he didn’t want this to end. “You know how easily I fall in love. I…I feel like if they had to leave. Had to move on…I would die a little. They’d become my babies the moment they walked in the door but…”
He wondered if that might honestly be the answer. If having children might be the one thing that would really stabilize him. And then suddenly, he wanted them. A whole house full.
“I agree, that I want more than one. I never had a sibling. I never had that wonderful relationship that you and Carlee have, and…I would want our kids to have that. That’s such a smart idea and…” He reached down to rub his icy leg, pleased when he felt the fabric of his pants and could actually feel the touch of his own hand.
That was a very good sign. “You’ll…really decorate the house with me? I like not being alone.” His previous thought had completely left his mind and he twisted, testing his leg and pressing closer to Arias.
“I love you.”

Arias had a smile on his face at the talk of children, but there was a curiosity in his eyes when Nick moved--a hope that whatever was plaguing him was fading. "I love you too," he said naturally. "I hope this means your leg is feeling better?"
He slid his hand down to rub over Nick's leg, gentle and inquisitive.
He was not so quick to forget about the conversation of children, though. "Can you imagine how much we'd get done if we had little helpers? Christmas would be much more exciting. Everything would be much more exciting."
It wasn't the first pang of longing that he'd felt, and it certainly wouldn't be the last, he knew that.
"...I want to look into it, though. I know it'll be easier after we're married, but I...I want this. Of course, it means you'd never be able to leave me, we couldn't put our kids through a divorce. So you'd never be able to leave me." He kissed his cheek gently. "...I'd never leave you alone, though. I hope you know that. I love you. I don't even know if I'd have been able to be myself if I hadn't met you. I don't know if I ever thanked you for that."
He let out a soft, tired sigh. "...But I think it often. Every time I look at you. I know we've had our ups and downs. I know things haven't always been easy. But I know that I've always loved you and always appreciated everything you've done for me. I want to give you a happily ever after."

Nick shivered as he felt Arias’ touch on his leg, and hope rose in him. He felt the touch. That had to mean something, right?
“We should start looking into it. I want a child. Several children…and yes, I think my leg is thawing somewhat…though I’m sure it was all because of the warmth you were giving me. I feel quite wonderful right now.” Good enough that he thought he might be able to stand…which would be good. They could get on with their decorating and get this apartment looking as magical as he had envisioned it.
“And maybe…we could go out to dinner tonight? Or even…order pizza so that when it comes we can sit here and look at the decorations and curl up and watch movies…?”
And perhaps look over adoption websites. Things would be easier when they were married, yes but…
Nick hesitated and sighed, kissing the male’s lips lightly. “…I want to start our family soon…”

Arias returned the kiss gently; he seemed to be somewhat on the same page as Nick, at least. "We could order a pizza and look at decorations and watch movies and look into adoption, maybe? Though, I don't want you to get up just yet. Let me hold you a bit longer, make sure you thaw completely. And then, when I know you are good and well..."
His arms were around him still, warm and affectionate.
"...We'll get back on our feet and plan for the future."
A beautiful future, that he was falling in love with more by the minute.
