Welcome to the guild!
biggrin
And yes. I agree.
*sigh*
But I was just trying to make a point, even if it was discussed before; I was angry, and emotional, so I just wanted to prove to myself, using m'precious Mirriam Webster, that by a Choicer's definition, we're all just clumps of cells.
sweatdrop
Sorry, if this was repeated.

divineseraph i also hate the argument of "why should your morals trump mine"- well, why do your morals against murder apply to a nihilist, who believes that nothing exists? they should have no problem with murder. why should your morals trump theirs? you can't legislate morality, after all... If you don't want to legislate morality, then don't be a hypocrite: fight to legalise murder, rape, torture along with everything else. Hey, just because YOU and your bible or whatnot say it's wrong... rolleyes

seriously though, that really bothers me... if they're so pro choice, then why not for things other than killing their children? why not agree with the extremist nihilist, and terrorist as well, and the nazi. then nobody is granted personhood, they all cancel eachother out. everybody is free to kill and rape and steal, a perfect, peaceful, death-laden nirvana anarchy.
edit- may i be so arrogant to suggest using it as a slogan, or perhaps a widespread argument? like, almost a logo? it's one thing that nobody can return, really... if they say "well, we are bron, so murder is wrong" well, not by some morals. if legislating morality is one of their powerhouses, let's turn it against them and opt for removal of homocide laws, because those are based on the morals of those who view human life as valuable.
pssh, everyone knows that life is made up of cells, made of simple proteins. humans are just clumps of matter.

Ebony the Peacian Vampire So I'm pissed.
Why?
Because I'm sick and tired of hearing Choicers say that a fetus is nothing more than a clump of worthless cells.
And now, my internet whore, Mirriam Webster:
Main Entry: cell
4 : a small usually microscopic mass of protoplasm bounded externally by a semipermeable membrane, usually including one or more nuclei and various other organelles with their products, capable alone or interacting with other cells of performing all the fundamental functions of life, and forming the smallest structural unit of living matter capable of functioning independently
The three important words here are the bolded ones.
Main Entry: alone 1 : separated from others : ISOLATED 2 : exclusive of anyone or anything else : ONLY
As much as the child needs the mother's womb, her warmth, and her well-being, it is alone. It is its own damn self.
Main Entry: life
1 a : the quality that distinguishes a vital and functional being from a dead body
Unless it's friggin' dead, YOU ARE NOT PREGNANT. Unless it does not kick, move, grow, or evolve, YOU ARE NOT PREGNANT.
Main Entry: independent
1 : not dependent: as a (1) : not subject to control by others : SELF-GOVERNING
Unless it's the mother's brain controlling the child's legs to kick and when, IT IS ITS OWN PERSON.
So there you have it. By a Choicer's definition - yes, even their definition! - a "clump of cells" is no different from a walking, talking individual.
Ahh, the power of Mirriam Webster.
*hails* You know what is funny? We (the adults) are also "clumps of cells. Our skin is made up of millions of cells. Our blood consists of millions of cells, so do our hearts, brains, an so much more! Care to argue about that?

Exactly!
Choicers, by definition, are neglectful to the fact that they are, also "clumps of cells".
Because that's exactly what living matter is!

This is true. surprised Religiously, and scientifically, this proves that the "clump of cells," IS indeed a human being. xP However, I'm sure that choicers are going to find SOME way to make that not apply. -_-;

Some of them will infact exclude th ementaly impared. One of them through PMs told me Terri Schivo was no longer human because she had lost a good deal of her ability to think. I feel sorry for these people.

Hello all, back from a long 'vacation' .
They use person/non-person tactics to justify that it might not be so it is ok. Just going along with it is the potential is nothing argument.
The ability to become something. I see it as a person already, but just because there is a small percentage of children not being born, doesn't justify the statement of it never coming out.

Duh.Actually they do. Mentioned to me, they don't have a high regard for human life, so they think of people just as clumps of cells.

they'd get along well with the UT professor who thinks we should wipe out 90% of the population with Ebola. Because people are only as significant as a single bacteria cell right guys?
