            Nest had dirt covering his paws he frowned hard at the dirt. Then back to the small hole he had dug. There had been a shiny bit of something sticking from the dirt. It was white clearish and even in the darkening sky glinted out if the corner of his eye. He had gotten down and pushed the dirt aside. Pulling at what was exposed. Stuck. He dug a little bit more and again tried to pull it out. Huffing he pulled again and when it didn't work he kicked it with his hind legs hoping to loosen the soil around the rock. He dug more and finally was able to pull it out of the ground, and there it sat next to the hole he had dug. And it was... too big? This would never be part of his collection how would he carry it back to his burrow.

            He humphed but refused to leave the shiny he had just worked so hard for he shoved it in the dirt back toward his burrow. So there he was shoving a rock much larger than himself and clearly too big for him to really handle. That's when the light flashed. Lighting the crystal up in front of him practically glowing surrounding him with light. Just as fast as the crystal shown the light faded. Then the noise followed and Nest threw himself back thinking it was the rock he had dug up. He covered his face peeking toward the rock.

            Then the rain hit. Splashing hard around him, splashing of the large rock and beginning to soak the ground around him. "OH NO" He yelled desperately pushing against the rock he had found trying to get it to move. The more the rain poured the softer the ground became and the harder it came to push. He was starting to get frustrated and soaked knowing his treasure pile was just sitting out in the rain. He couldn't leave this, could he? He had worked so hard and it was so pretty. He let out a wail as he made the decision to ditch it in the grass. In favour of running back to his pile of goodies, he had collected.

            Luckily he always made this pile close to his burrow. So once he reached the area where his burrow was he just had to scoop items into the safety of his burrow. He was thoroughly soaked at this point. Trying to hide if from the rain but more importantly from the lights in the sky. Every boom shook his burrow, it was a loud one.

            Mud nodded to himself. He got it, he had gone over the path in his head so many times. There was NO way he would get lost in the grass this time. Right? Right! Taking one last look at the rivver he parted the grass in front of him and worked his way through the blades.

            Okay so I go straight for fifteen hops, he counted out the hops one, two, three... He counted to fifteen and stopped. Okay, so a right then a left then four more hops. He counted out the hops. Now a right and then 20 more hops. After he counted the hops he made and excited leap this should be it its right there!... But it wasn't. He scratched his head confused, counting the steps out in his head was it a right? or was it... 18 hops? He stuck his head up out of the long grass but couldn't see the river or his burrow. He let out a heavy huff.

            That was when the light hit, cracking through the sky and sending mud jumping vertically into the air. "What the hell!" then BOOM He ducked down low his heart racing, he didn't know what that noise was or where it had come from. Then the rain hit hard and he let out a loud wail "NOT RIGHT NOWW" He was lost again, in the rain with no idea how to get back to where he started or how to get home. "HELP! HELP!" He called out but the rain crashed loudly around him only making the situation worse. Could anyone even hear him? Would anyone help him even if they did? He would be hiding in the safety of his burrow if he could find it, surely he couldn't blame anyone that was.

Barreling full tilt, Zippy made for her papa, planning to swerve and zoom around him in another figure 8. She was too occupied in her speed games to notice the increasing strangeness, and the flash of light blinded her completely. Trying to skid to a halt she squealed loudly at the same time the thundering boom crashed across the sky. Further terrified, she bounced blindly off something soft that was probably her papa and toppled over. She howled in terror, "I CAN'T SEEEEEEE!!' and flailed her tiny paws as splatters of rain started to plop on her fur. This was most likely because her eyes were squished closed as she wailed pathetically.

Rumble was so preoccupied with making his own noise that he didn’t really notice the way the air shifted and the silence that settled. Not until a huge flash of light and a BOOM filled up the sky. “Awesome!!” He turned to grin at his kids and then the rain started. Rain was far less awesome, though it did make a fun thundering sound as it pounded down. Bumble ran over and smacked into his stomach, hiding under his bulky frame, and then another soft little poof smacked into his stomach. “Zippy, Zippy! Open your eyes kid!” He laughed and scooped her closer and got her under his belly too. Squinting in the rain he called out to Pebble and the other kids to come huddle closer. “Isn’t this crazy!!” He laughed and screamed into the sheets of water. What a weird day!

Whisper hunkered down even more as the rain came down. Ugh, gross. She knew today was going to be horrible, she had just KNOWN it. With an annoyed sigh she made her way over to the family as well. At least she could get out of the rain a little bit, even if it did mean being squished up against her annoying siblings.

Popo was hopping along the outskirts of the large grassy area when the light flashed across the sky and a huge BOOM rang out over the land. It had started off as kind of a weird day and she had just known that it would be important for her to be out today. The still, muggy air had been unsettling and now she was so glad she had come to patrol the area. The rain started coming down shortly after her eyes had adjusted to the bright flash, and the world grew dark as the rain and clouds took over.

She could see rabbits in the grass, scrambling as the rain pelted them all. She needed to get in there and help! Her brightly dyed ears shone as she waded into the storm and the wet grass, squinting to better see. The first thing she could make out over the din of rain was a voice crying for help. She called out in her most authoritative voice, she had been practicing, “Help is on the way!” She finally tracked down the voice to a huddled, soggy, panicky brown buck. “Stay calm, everything is going to be fine. My name is Popo and I’m here to help. Are you injured?”

At the crashing boom of thunder, a dirty gray nose peeked out of a shallow makeshift burrow in a nondescript area that was a higher point in the dales. A large flatish rock sat here, offering an even better vantage point though not by much, just enough to be taller than the waving grasses. Thunder's dark eyes blinked and his ears twitched excitedly. This weather made him feel ALIVE. Earlier in the day he had come here when he had felt the shift in the atmosphere, for he knew this area to be the perfect open area to view the fires in the sky. And this one was feeling like a real boomer, the worst he'd ever felt in his shortish life.

Despite the rain, he hopped out of his little hiding spot and around the back of the rock. There was a place where the dirt was higher against the rock and he used this to hop up onto the relatively flat and worn surface. Another bright spikey fire thing ripped across the sky and he thrilled, for every instinct told him to run or to hide... or go to ground. But he was enthralled with the brilliant display and the crackle of static in his soft fur! The rain started to really pound down, but it was a summer rain. Though it quickly plastered his fur to his body he did not mind it, and waited breathlessly for the next flashing boom.

Pebble was laughing and thumping so loud that at first she thought it was her and her awesome family that had made the big boom. Then a flash of light and she realized it was thunder and lightning. She grinned and looked at Rumble, “Cool!” She noticed little Zippy having a little spaz attack and started to laugh. Then the rain began. “Oh man! That stinks!” She gathered Bam Bam and Tumble and brought them in closer to Rumble. Once all the kits were cuddled and safe beneath them she said to Rumble, “we need to find cover, and quickly!”

Buzz stayed where he was but wasn't able to relax, if anything growing more uncomfortable and uneasy every minute. Suddenly, a huge crash and light happened, so bright he could see it through closed eyes, and he jarred upright. Rain instantly poured, this wasn't good at all. There were a lot of rabbits around. Hopefully they all had a safe place to go but just in case he stood on his hind legs, cupped his paws around his mouth and shouted, "IF YOU DON'T HAVE A NEARBY BURROW, FOLLOW ME!" loud enough for anyone in the vicinity to hear. His burrow was positioned almost in the center of this region, not super close by but it was a doable distance away and very roomy. Maybe the extra work he did this last week would pay off after all. He made off in that direction, purposefully but slow enough to allow anyone to follow if they needed to.

Honestly, Justice didn't expect the buck next to her be so calm. The air was heavy and thick with the unknown, with something being off. The fact that he stood there silently, stoically threw her off balance. Was he the reason why she felt unnerved? Brown eyes narrowed further. Suspicious.

And then she heard the thump.

The doe nearly jumped out of her fur at the sound and visibly crouched as she readied herself to hop away from the danger so that she could prepare herself. On edge, Justice's eyes immediately went to the source--which was of course, attached to the bun that she was talking to. Was it a nervous tick? Did they know what was up? There was something about the male that made her feel like they knew more than they let on. It was unsettling. She wanted to know.

"It does, almost like someone is making it strange." The caution and doubt was clear as day on her face as she inspected the dark bun. It wasn't as if he had actually done anything to warrant any action. Still....

She couldn't get very far in that thought when a rumble stirred up in the air. Immediately her gaze turned towards the sky. "That can't be good." She muttered, her ears flat against her head. "Do you have shelter to go to?" She had to get others out of here before it gets too dangerous... Yet she couldn't bear to leave this suspect. Why was this buck so suspicious?!

Someone responded?! Koi's ears twitched in excitement as they lanced this way and that as he looked towards the source before finally, finally settling on the doe within the water. His nose twitched in excitement. It wasn't like it was unusual for Koi to have someone to talk to. Talking came quite easy to him enough to always have someone around. But it was always exciting to talk to someone new.

But....the buck tilted his head towards one side, and then the other as he studied her. "Just why are you in the water?" Wouldn't that stick to her fur and be unpleasant? Or did it...actually feel good? He started to make a step hesitantly towards her....

When a flash of bright light blinded his wide eyes. The buck jolted high up in the air at the rumble, throwing himself into the water. His face soon hit the ground with a thud earning him a mouthful of dirt. "Blech" he spit out a majority of it was he worked his jaw. "W-We should get out of here soon." his eyes darted towards the area away from the river. But where would they go?!

            Mud stood in the rain getting soaked his fur clinging to his body and he started to shiver. "Help! Help" his cries gradually became quieter. No one was coming, he might as well try to find somewhere to hide or accept that he was just going to die here.

            That was when he was approached by a red and blue eared bun. "huh? I.." he sobbed trying to get himself together. "No I'm not, but it should be HERE!" he pointed to the grass in front of him. "I did the steps I made the turns it HAS to be here! It's gone I'm going to die here in this storm" he shook again shivering.

            He looked at the bun in front of him and genuinely wondered why they were helping him, why they weren't hiding from the rain and the light and the boom. "my home is gone!" he cried like a lost kit, he was really a hapless bun.

"Oh." Blink's head tilted downward to inspect the water she was sitting in, as if she had quite forgotten that it was there. After a brief moment, she returned her wide-eyed gaze to Koi with a twitch of her little nose.

"I don't know why," came her matter-of-fact reply. "Seemed like a good idea. You should try it."

It wasn't until the lightning hit that she seemed inclined to move, but when she did, she moved with an errant urgency. The little doe bolted out of the water, towing Koi out with her as she charged by.

"That way!!" She meeped, trying to drag the speckled buck with her as she skidded around a corner, following Buzz's call. The little doe sprinted blindly for Buzz's burrow, so thoroughly spooked that she hardly thought about what she was doing.

The rumble of thunder sent a jolt of tension through Paro. The dark doe pancaked herself to the ground instinctively, tucking her ears tight against her head as the skies seemed to split open.

"Better get out of here," she said rather darkly, eyes darting this way and that in search of safety.

Dusty awoke to a horrible boom sound, louder than anything he'd heard before. Even underground it was frightening, he could've swore he felt the earth move. It was immediately followed by heavy rain and more crashing sounds. Lightning. Thunder. He'd heard of these phenomenon but had never actually witnessed himself. Despite the danger, he couldn't resist getting a peek of this fascinating unknown. He made his way up to the top entrance of the burrow and cautiously exited, almost instantly getting soaked. Wow, this looked even worse than it sounded.

'Oh no, Buzz!' he thought, remembering the buck who was letting him crash here while he traveled this area. 'I hope he didn't go too far away.' Dusty looked around but it was really hard to see with the rain pelting his eyes and grasses whipping wildly about. He worried that his new friend and others in the area would have a hard time finding their way in this chaos. "Over here!" he shouted, hoping anyone nearby would be able to follow his voice to safety. "BURROW HERE!" he shouted again, with more volume. He'd keep this up for as long as he could stand until it became too dangerous. No rabbit deserved to be lost in a storm.

User Image
Buzz looked behind to check if anyone was following. The doe he'd been checking out earlier was sprinting straight toward him with another rabbit in tow. Panic was evident on her face even from this distance. He waited for them to catch up before pressing on. "Try to keep calm and stay on my tail." he called back to the pair. "We can make it." Their surroundings were getting worse by the minute but he knew the direction they needed to go. He hoped these two would be able to keep their wits about them and stick close. Buzz suddenly had a really bad feeling about this storm and mentally berated himself for ignoring his instincts earlier. However, he quickly pushed these thoughts aside in order to stay focused on the matter at paw. It wasn't only his own safety at risk now.

Or someone. Asher blinked at Justice, his foot ceasing its absent-minded thumping. "But who, though?" He frowned, looking to his companion in silence. The two shared a look, and then the rumble in the air and the crack of a storm made Asher jump back, nearly tripping over his own feet in surprise. "Ah! Uh, our burrows are in the Hills, a bit far from here." He admitted, ears flattening against his head as he rose up to look around them, squinting against the onslaught of rain.

They were hardly his type, and frankly he was more concerned with the rain and the scattering rabbits around him. His ears perked at the shouting, and he made a frustrated noise, taking a few steps back from the edge of the water. "Sky's angry. It'll be done with soon." These storms never lasted, not in his long memory anyway.

"There." Hoarfrost nodded ahead of them, frowning. "Might be some shelter that way, away from the river's edge." More importantly, it'd get him away from the group at large, and he might be able to think. If he could think, he could reassure Asher, and they could go home before they were drowned by the downpour.

Floodwater shifted foot to foot anxiously as she watched the other rabbits chatter and mumble among themselves. No, she decided, it wasn't just the embarrassment of looking like a drowsy dork with water up her nose that had her fur crawling - something wasn't right. The air - she'd felt like this before, when --

Her train of thought was violently derailed by the claps of thunder, each one closer than the last.

"Oh," she said quietly to herself, looking up at the sky in awe, "that would do it."

She sat up on her haunches and let the rain soak her fur, seemingly entranced by the flashes of light and roar of the storm. It was just so nice - it'd been some time since a good storm like this, in her opinion. She let it all wash over her - and likely have gotten lost in the sound if it weren't for the cries for help that could be heard beneath the downpour. Shaken from her trance, she noticed with a jump that the water had nearly consumed half of her already.

Floodwater bolted from the river's edge - slowed slightly by the growing current beneath her - as quickly as she could manage.

Rumble nodded his agreement, trying to wrap his long ears as close to his face as he could to keep them dry. Wet ears were the worst!! "Let's maybe move into the taller grass? See if... I dunno it can shield us?" Another crack boomed across the sky and his face split into a grin. Bumble let out a little squeal of excitement at the noise. "It's pretty fun though! So loud! Like the whole sky is thumping!" he laughed and started edging toward some tall grass nearby.

~~~~~~~~~
Popo took a deep breath and forced her voice to be courteous and helpful. This panicking buck was trying her patience but she knew she needed to stay calm and in control if she was going to help him. Ducking her head to shield her eyes as best she could from the rain, she spoke firmly into the buck's ear so he could hear her. "You can always make a new home, but your life is more important. Stay calm. Is there something you need that you have lost? We should try and find some shelter from this storm so unless it is something you absolutely need, we should move away from this clearing and into something with more protection."
