"I'm sure you could just go to a craft store and buy a fake canary. Like the ones they use in floral arrangements." He already could recall seeing them when he was zooming around the craft store. Why he was there, he didn't know but he did remember foam birds.
"What kinda danger would come after you that needs a camera? And why the heck are you climbing out the window? What kinda weirdo are you?" It certainly seemed like she was a weirdo, given there was a perfectly good door that she pointed to not too far away.
"I ain't telling you my name if you're using it for profit! What's your name first? That way I can submit my story first."

"What, you've never slipped out of a window when you're grounded?" she asked impishly, though she remained sat on the windowsill as opposed to fully committing to leaving the house. She was a bit old to be grounded nowadays, but she'd hopped out of her window more than her fair share of times when she was younger and it normally was so that she could be in places she shouldn't have been in.
"I've never really been in a craft store though," she admitted and readjusted her position. Carefully pressing her back to one side of the window and resting her feet against the others. In those moments her rather fat and fluffy bear slippers were perfectly visible, but it was clearly a 'style' that she rocked quite well in the current moment.
"I'll take a look though," she grinned. "Would be interesting to see how my dad would react to seeing a literal canary above the door." she mused. She was sure he would probably take it in his stride, especially since the last few months had been 'freaking weird', but it was still something she'd be willing to give some thought.
"I'm Lily," she added and shrugged her shoulders. "Somehow I think my story about a plant stealer is going to be more interesting than yours about someone sitting on her windowsill," she added with a smirk. "Or are you going for an expose on the plant murderer?" she teased.

"... Hm." There was no straight answer from Theo... Honestly, he didn't know. Had he been? From what he knew about himself so far, he was kinda out there sometimes, so he could have been the kinda person who caused trouble.
Nah, it didn't matter.
"... Not even for a class project or something? That's really weird. You're weird as heck, Lily. And I don't trust you not to cause me any more problems than the problems you gave me so far already with your insults to nature but you can call me Cookie. Close enough. That's all you get."

Names were a personal thing and in some cases, a nickname was more preferable to some people than their actual names. If Cookie wanted to be called 'Cookie' then she would respect that, maybe he'd always liked biscuits as a kid or something, or he could be really good at making them. Regardless, there was probably a motivation behind the name even if she was pi]way off the mark with it.
"Not really," she admitted and shrugged her shoulders. "They had all the supplies in class and if I needed to make any at home then my mom would pick them up for me," she pointed out. She hadn't been the most artistic of sorts, preferring the more scientific subjects. That didn't mean she wasn't creative or imaginative to a degree, she'd ended up studying architecture after all!
...But creating anything plush or adorable?
Probably not something she'd ever have done without someone bringing her along for the ride.
"Can we both agree that we're both weird in our own ways?" she offered with a chuckle. He had become rather fixated on her plants and though she didn't understand it she'd certainly slighted him. In comparison most would probably agree that he was the weirder one but she didn't think a competition was of much use today!
"You're pretty stuck up about plants and uh..." she pursed her lips. "I've never made a cuddly toy in art class?"
"Not sure how I'd cause you anymore trouble though, unless you reckon I'm about to storm around kicking potted plants over which seems a little rude... The neighbours are nice here, I don't want to ruin their stuff."

"Sounds like you had a cushy life. Good for you." And this time, he meant it. Why be jealous over something he couldn't remember? With him missing a pair of fingers, and an eyeball, something told him his life wasn't exactly easy, but whatever, that didn't matter to him.
"Nah, you're weirder, but I accept the fact that we are both a little.. off." That was as good as she was going to get today. And he did seem to relax juuuust a little, especially when she mentioned the neighborhood. He did come here with a purpose after all. One of which was to scope out a house that was nice enough to maybe rob later.
Maybe. But the idea of hidden cameras made him back off the idea.
"I mean, you might? I don't know what kinda sick, twisted hobbies you're into. Maybe a potted plant stole your lunch money once before and you want vengeance."

"A possibility in Little Pet Shop of Horrors but probably not in reality," she pointed out with a half smile. She wasn't about to admit that she'd seen rabid plants running around, some of which that might very well steal lunch money if given a chance. Instead, she'd focus solely on what a mere civilian like her would expect to find in the world and refrain from giving any indication that she was something different.
Accurate as his cushy life assessment was, that did help to maintain an element of legitimacy to any claims of ignorance.
"I'll stick to actually worrying about things that can steal my lunch money," she hazarded a glance towards him and lifted a brow. "Like people with opposable thumbs and the intelligence to figure out how doors work," she added. She might not know his true motives for scoping out the neighbourhood but at the very least she could identify the appropriate threat and that was the humanoid!
"So why are you hanging out around here anyway," she pursed her lips. "Are you a gardener something or some kind of voyeur?"
Probably should have asked that question sooner, but she never tended to do things in the right order anyway.

"... Are you sure you live in this city? Like, weren't you here for the summertime nonsense with that big angry plant going around flailing at people?" While he wasn't exactly there for that, he remembered hearing all about it from the more mouthy Negaversers in the barracks.
Some of them really could talk.
"I swear, they want more than your lunch money, they wanna eat you! Hence I always say, be kind to plants, because you never know when they'll become sentient and try to destroy you." Theo didn't actually believe that, but hey, no harm in saying it anyway. Especially since this girl looked like she wanted to keep talking.
"Uh...." he couldn't exactly say he was here to steal stuff later. "Well, would you believe me when I said I was heading to Taco Tower on Lilliard Street, then got lost, and then it turns out I don't have my phone so I was just trudging along til I found a bus stop?"

Liliane lifted a brow, it seemed that for the most part, her doubt was adequately conveyed in those moments. She'd have been impressed with her own performance if she'd been able to observe it from a distance but for now she was simply going to pretend she had no recollection of demonic, cannibalistic plants. Truth be told she was all too familiar with them, but to admit as much would be to give far too much away.
"Can't say I had the pleasure," she replied and pursed her lips.
As for the rest of his reply, she resisted the urge to say 'uh huh' and simply put the bulk of his antics into the a-bit-strange category. It was a stretch to get quite this lost in her view, you'd have to make an effort to get lost here, but poking at a slumbering bear was never going to be the smartest of options.
"You mean the bus stop that's like, two streets over?" she asked curiously as she glanced behind his shoulder and pointed in its general direction.
Given there were several of them scattered around the exterior streets of the area she lived in, that was another thing that would have taken an effort to miss but for the time being she'd dismiss it, after all, he had made a quiet day reasonably interesting!
"Not sure the first one will get you street to Lilliard Street but it'll certainly get you somewhere towards it."

”... Right... I’m just going to assume you’re a prissy rich kid who just doesn’t leave the sanctuary of your house and keep your head between your knees and ignore everything around you. Whatever helps you sleep at night.” Only an absolute idiot would be able to avoid knowing anything about the city around them, but whatever floated her boat. After all, there were definitely things worth being afraid of that went bump in the night.
Nothing he had to be afraid of though.
“Is it that close? I got no ******** clue, and no phone right now either so I was just gonna keep wandering til I found one.” But since you told me it’s two streets over, I can get out of here. Good, cuz I got places to be.”

"Sound advice if on an aircraft," Liliane stuck out her tongue.
Whatever his issue might be, he seemed determined to be deliberately contrary and she didn't entirely understand it. However, whatever his motives for this were would have to remain a mystery. She'd had her fill of accusatory remarks for the afternoon and it would probably take her a day or two to be ready for a second helping.
"And I mean..." she shrugged; he wasn't wrong about the 'rich' bit, her parents were in a pretty good spot and the only reason they hadn't been on vacation lately was due to her studies. With her first year and second year set to be chaotic the decision had been taken to put a hold on most of the family vacations to avoid too much disruption... She did have to wonder if they would have made another decision if they'd known she would 'awaken' as a result.
"If you were lost you could have started with that," she swung herself back into her room window safely and turned round. "While shouting at me for plants is a pretty creative way to get attention, you could have saved a ton of time just asking where the nearest bus stop was," she pointed out with a smile.
"But at least you know now, right...?"

”How could I start with that when there was death right on your doorstep?” He could feel the parting between them coming up soon, and... Well, he still didn’t quite feel like leaving without some sort of souvenir.. And the one chosen was a pretty flower that was only kinda dead. Still good enough to be pressed.
Without even asking, he plucked it. And then another. “Yup, now I know. Now, you be a good weirdo and take care of your plants, and I’mma go find that bus stop and get some snacks.”

How very dramatic...
Lily was pleased that she had managed to avoid raising her brow in a provocative way. She could certainly think of other things that were greater cardinal things than a plant that needed watering but people had passions for the strangest things and their priorities... Well those were a bit different now and then as well.
"Sure," she nodded slowly. She'd no need to remark on the plucked flowers, when spring came they would bud back into existence anyway, but he did seem to make some very deliberate and pointed moves.
And she was the weird one here!
"Enjoy your food," she added with a small chuckle and slipped carefully back through her window. She'd not dwell on it for long, but she certainly wouldn't be forgetting the plant enthusiast for a while. If there was ever a way to make an impression on someone, screaming at them was definitely it!
For now though, Cookie was free to find his bus stop, if that was even what he was really up to.
