Why was he still doing this? Why were these kisses, this tongue tasting him as if he was something actually worth of being touched? What did it even matter if it felt so very pleasant compared to the bruises and bites that otherwise frequently littered his body. Such sweetness, even if it was ultimately a lie, was mesmerizing.

The sound of the car stopping and the driver's voice telling them they had arrived snapped December from his glazed over look, and he only gave a half squeaked thank you as he tried to scramble out after Nat.

"Y-yes, please! I want to stay, to make sure you aren't sick later, if that is okay with you, that is!" Had it all just been an accident...?

What did he gain from inviting December in? Nataniel didn't really know, did he? It wasn't as though he believed he'd be unmanageably sick later. Though he'd had a few drinks, it wasn't as many as he was accustomed to on a Saturday night, and he didn't feel too terribly out of sorts now. He wasn't bringing December up to sleep with him because whether he wanted to or not... It was irrelevant. December filled a different purpose in his life, and Nat wasn't fond of different purposes crossing over.

But he was accustomed to company after such exuberant social functions...

Nataniel rummaged in his pockets for his keys as he moved toward his apartment building, expecting December to simply follow behind him. "I don't have a T.V. in my room, or anything," Nat admitted quietly as he flicked through his key ring to find the one for his door. "We'll have to put something on the computer. I don't have cable, anyway, but my parents have Netflix, Hulu, HBO, and ah-" Others. He knew there were more... His parents subscribed to almost all of them, it seemed like.

"The Amazon one... Prime Video, or something like that..." Did it matter? He doubted December cared. Why was his face so warm? They were at the stairs up to his second-story apartment now, and Nat rested his hand on the rail as he squinted up toward his door. Did he have anything for December to snack on, even?

He wasn't really used to anyone besides his roommate being at his home...

Keeping himself entertained while staying with Dessy never even crossed his mind. He figured it would be more along the lines of Nat getting home, passing out in his bed, and Dessy keeping him company and making sure he didn't choke on his vomit. Nothing he wasn't used too, as October and May used to come home like that all the time.

But it didn't seem like Nat was thinking along the same lines as he was, offering suggestion over suggestion while he stood bye, waiting.

"It's okay, Nat. You don't have to worry about me, okay? I just want to make sure you're comfortable and I'll be happy to do whatever it is you want to do. I am here to make sure you're okay, and that's all, and I wanna do everything I can to make sure that's the case, okay?" Did Nat think he wanted to watch something instead of what he swore was implied earlier...? Strange! Very strange! But either way, if he wanted to do something, he would let him do whatever he wanted... He did very much like the taller man, after all...

...Right. From atop the stairwell, Nataniel had a decent view of the horizon over the parking lot they'd just escaped, but at this time of night, there was little discernible difference between the dark of the earth and the dark of the sky besides where various shadows of buildings and trees blotted out the view of far-off stars. It was late. He shouldn't be worrying about much of anything besides settling in for the night, unless there was something more specific he needed to do...

Nataniel eyed the curve of December's hips, and traced his shape all the way down his legs and back up. He was a pretty boy, Nat supposed. Childish. Often poorly dressed. A bit annoying too, really. But they were friends. They played games together and cooed over his angel.

There just wasn't room for more than that, right?

"Right, okay," Nataniel murmured softly as he turned to unlock his apartment door. It was dark inside, as well. Quiet as though no one else were home, and Nat decided it wasn't his place to investigate Gab's room to ensure that was the case. "Mm, my room's in the back," he said, giving a flick of his fingers toward the hallway as he closed and locked the door after December. "Bathroom's adjacent to Gab's room... Best leave him be, for the night. I gotta..." He started in the direction he'd indicated. "Get changed, I guess."

For some people, following someone home wasn't a great idea... It also wasn't such a great idea to invite someone sober into your house when you were drunk, either.

But neither of the boys were threats to one another, and December would most certainly be lying to himself if he said he didn't feel safe her.

Of course, had his general had the whim to do it, he could be pulled into the Negaverse in an instant. That was the furthest thing from his mind now that he was here, in the apartment.

"Did you want to wash up before you settle in for the night?" The smell of spilled alcohol still clung to the both of them, and Dessy, in particular, felt sticky thanks more than a few splashes of drinks he had run into while stumbling across the dancefloor.

People didn't like other people in their spaces most of the time, so he wouldn't dare ask to use anything of Nat's... But maybe, if Nataniel decided to go take a shower, he could do a quick wash-up in the kitchen sink.

"No." With that simple statement, Nataniel moved toward his bedroom. "I shower in the mornings. There is little sense in doing it more than that." He would even argue that he didn't feel compelled to shower at all on days he didn't work out... Why should he when he wasn't filthy and he didn't want his skin to feel dried out? He had been outside for the festivities today, sure, and maybe he'd gotten a little sweaty in the warm summer air and activity, but it was nothing a clean shirt and boxers wouldn't fix. "But you can, if that is your preference."

Ugh, why was he starting to get a headache? Nat scrubbed the heel of his palm against a closed eyelid as he pushed open the door to his bedroom and stopped before his dresser. He didn't usually get headaches after just a drink or two or... however many, did he?

Maybe it was the heat. Or the dancing.

He pulled a clean shirt out for himself and after a moment of thought, one for December. It seemed unlikely the younger man would just have a change of clothes on him. "Can you bring me a water bottle from the fridge?" Nataniel called as he stripped off his shirt in favor of the new one.

Dessy wouldn't argue. Personally he *loved* hot showers, but it did show when his skin would dry out, and he had to lather himself up in cocobutter to make it soft again.

"No, I don't have to, I don't have anything-" he stopped when asked to do something and immediately went to the fridge as asked, making a pause to wash his hands and his face in the sink before hurrying back to the bedroom where Nat disappeared into.

"Got it!" It was a tiny, insignificant accomplishment, But Dessy was very proud of it, placing the bottle within reach.

"Are you tired? Are you gonna go to sleep?" he whispered towards him, wondering if the other might have had a headache or something, and he knew darned well that his voice was grating to some. May would often hurl things at him if he spoke to her when her head hurt, and while Nat was being really nice tonight, he wasn't going to risk it.

Nataniel squinted at the shirt he'd pulled out of his dresser for December. Would that imply that Nat expected the other boy to stay? Did he expect the other boy to stay? December had wanted to come over to make sure Nataniel didn't hurt himself or become sick or... Something like that, and Nat had enjoyed how it felt when they danced, and when he held December in the car on the way over... It seemed strange, though, that someone should stay over. No one ever stayed over. He stared at the shirt in his hands.

And when the snowy-haired boy appeared at his side with the requested bottle of water, Nataniel offered the shirt to him in exchange because that seemed reasonable, yes? It was already out of his dresser and in his hands. It was for December, so...

"Change or shower or whatever if you want," Nataniel offered as he unscrewed the cap on the water and took a hesitant sip. And then a slightly larger gulp. It felt like ice on his tongue, and he could feel the cool sensation dropping well into his stomach. "I- uh... I'm going to-" Oh. He'd wanted to set something on the computer for December to watch. He reached for the laptop at the foot of his bed, and plopped down to settle himself between the sheets before lifting the laptop's lid and bringing up the Netflix account.

Except... was December going to stay? Was December going to stay in here? He turned inquisitive dark eyes to the other man and tipped his head.

It really seemed like Nataniel was offering him the chance to stay, to get clean... And this time, Dessy wasn't going to push the offer away. It took some time to sink in, but Nat wanted him here, and that just made the boy so happy, words couldn't describe it.

He'd stay quiet though, even if he was beaming, and took the shirt from his hands. Already he knew it would be too big on him, but did it matter? It was clean and dry. "Okay, I'll go take a shower, then I'll come back here."

As a thanks, and part of a promise, December leaned over and pressed a small, gentle kiss to Nat's cheek, just as the other was grabbing his laptop. "If you need anything, let me know okay? I won't be long!"

And off he went, scurrying towards the bathroom with a little pep in his step that clearly wasn't there before.

He gave a silent nod of assent as December took the shirt and scurried away. What exactly had Nataniel gotten himself into here? It wasn't that he minded the other boy being here, he thought. Certainly since he already shared his apartment with someone else that the addition of one more wouldn't hurt anything. But it was still unusual to invite any of his friends over. Gab was a social butterfly. He could have people in and out as much as he wanted, but... none of them came into Nat's room.

He slid down to lay on his side, propping an elbow against the pillows and resting his cheek in his hand as he scrolled through Netflix's selections on his laptop.

What did people like December watch on Netflix? Cartoons, Nataniel supposed, but he wasn't much into such things, himself. He could put on Cowspiracy, but somehow Nat suspected the other man would have less than zero interest in such a thing. Eventually Nat settled on Round Planet, far from being a cartoon but still plenty of animals for engaging someone with December's mental aptitude.

It was good enough, anyway. With that decided, Nat slipped further down onto his mattress, laying his head to pillows and shutting his eyes.

Rather than take a quick, sprinkling of a wash, December took his time. Though he did have June's place to go to for a nice pleasant, private shower, something about this seemed far more pleasant... Unfamiliar smells of Nataniel's body wash, the way the water seemed hotter, the pressure harder, all of it just melted away the anxiety that came with being out of place somewhere, and by the time he came out, Dessy was honestly relaxed beyond anything he could remember.

Clothed once again, he stepped out of the bathroom, giving his hair a quick drying with a towel before returning to Natinel's side. Something was playing on the laptop, but it seemed like his friend really wasn't paying any attention at all, and that he was heading more towards sleep. They hadn't really discussed where he'd be sleeping. The ouch seemed best, like where June had him go but...

Just this once, he wanted to be brave. And he did say he would keep an eye on the drunken man to make sure he was safe and didn't get sick.

He climbed into bed beside Nataniel, and put his arms around the older man. This was just fine, people liked hugs.

"Do you need anything else before you go to sleep?" he whispered softly, nuzzling the top of Nataniel's head gently.

He didn't usually fall asleep with anything playing in the background. Not because he couldn't sleep with the added noise, but there didn't usually seem reason to. There wasn't a benefit to leaving his laptop on all night. But at an appropriately quiet volume, even the lively voice of Matt Lucas didn't do much to keep Nataniel awake. He dozed to the ambient sound of the show and the dull hum of water rushing through pipes as December showered. His bedroom light was still on... That was more annoying than anything...

He didn't notice when the water shut off or when the shuffle of feet on carpet approached. He did notice, however, the dip of weight on his mattress. Nataniel's dark lashes fluttered open, and he stared blankly at the boy climbing over to him.

Nataniel could remember only very few times he'd spent the night in anyone else's bed. A solid zero had ever slept in his. As he wasn't a participant in any relationships, the 'sleeping' together portion often seemed... a bit too intimate for his tastes. It wasn't like he was actually friends with anyone he met for a night. ...But December liked to make him happy. December liked to be with him. December was here now... He liked for them to be together... Liked when December held his hand or leaned against his shoulder or hugged him...

He slipped an arm beneath the younger man's waist and draped the other over his hips, tugging him near enough to touch a kiss to his jaw.

But then, "Oh. The light..." Nataniel muttered, squinting toward the ceiling fan.

The only thing December felt right now, lying close against Nat, and feeling those kisses pressed to his jaw, and that was bliss. He was safe, happy, warm, and so many other things...

Maybe even loved. Such a notion was hard for him to even fathom, given how little experience he had with it.

Whatever this feeling was, he wanted to feel it over and over and over again, that is, if that's what Nat wanted too.

".. Oh." December knew he had forgotten something, and did his best to quickly pull away, flick off the switch, then returned to those arms that he was beginning to crave. He was craving his touch, the way those eyes felt on him, stern but kind... The way those kisses brushed his skin, leaving trails of goosebumps in their wake.

Was it okay to want more...?

"You know... I'd do anything for you, Nataniel... Anything at all... So... I hope you'll keep letting me stay close..."

December slipped away from him, the light flicked off, and then the younger man was back against him. Nataniel didn't know many people who would- Well, he didn't really know many people in general, but it felt odd even to him that someone he'd known for only as long as he'd known December would trust and want him as December did. Nataniel of course knew his own body's needs and desires, and that rather strict limitations he placed on himself concerning that, but the other boy with him did not seem to think in that way, specifically, no matter how Nat's fingers wandered.

And they did wander.

He didn't really know what December expected of him. Worse, though, Nataniel didn't know what he expected of himself. Even now with only the glow of his laptop to see by, everything seemed... oddly hazy. His vision, his thoughts, the soft whisper of December's words against him.

He didn't think... He didn't know what they were. 'Friendship' was something he religiously hesitated over. Nataniel wanted no 'friends' who weren't actually of importance to him. His body, of course, did know what it liked: the press of another against him, warm skin, the tickle of breath as it ghosted over him, saying his name. Dark lashes flit open, gaze lifting to find the pale violet of December's, and he leaned in, crashing his lips to the other man's in a hungry and biting kiss.

It didn't matter what his mind wanted, what Nataniel didn't know, what made him hesitate. The haze was enough to diminish the impact of uncertainty. He pulled back enough to speak, though lips still brushing against December's as he spoke, "I like it when you say my name."

How strange it felt to have Nataniel draw closer, his lips taking his own so passionately! While this wasn't the first time December had been kissed by someone this felt completely new. He wanted this feeling against him, those warm breath against him and the taste that was a mixture of faded alcohol and sugary sweetness. Everything felt like it had been leading up to this. Even he, in all his idiocy, couldn't ignore just how Nat's fingers played with his skin, and how those lips kept wanting to touch any inch of skin exposed.

December was used to people desiring him and wanting to use him in one way or another. The faded bruises along his body, some still more vibrant than others, was definite proof of that. There was no affection between him and whatever partner he had to be with for the night.

And that was what made Nataniel kissing him so very different, enough so that every kiss was returned sweetly, as if December himself was craving that affection. So much so that a soft whine came from his lips when the older man pulled away, even as short a distance as he did.

"I like saying it too... I'll say it as much as you like, however you like... So can I keep liking this too...?"
