"You talked to him? Did he try and recruit you?" He asked, feeling that as the more Nate talked, the more is was becoming clear why Nate had the encounter in the first place.

"It sounds like you met someone very dangerous. Someone who could have hurt or killed you. Though not even the most normal ones. A rare type in fact." He said. He had heard about half youma between the shared collective information the Mauvians gathered, but he never recalled meeting a half youma. Youma were awful enough in his opinion.

"I'll act like a cat if I see him. It's easy enough. I'll even make myself seem like a stray." He said, and with that, he blew out the little pieces of tissue and, with some concentrating, dismissed all his garbs. His collar, glasses, and earring all vanished. As ridiculous as it sounded, he felt a bit naked now.

"You don't mind bringing me home though? I thought you'd want to get rid of me?" He asked.

"No, I don't think so." Recruit him? Surely someone trying to sway anyone else to their cause would've been more forthcoming with information. Even if Nataniel wasn't dead and had learned of the gathering energy, that was about all he knew. He hadn't been told what the boy was, didn't know anything about those who sent him, or even his name. There hadn't been any reason for why Nataniel should want to be like him, and there still wasn't.

He pulled his key from his pocket and turned it in the lock. The apartment was dark, quiet. Empty, it would seem. Likely for the best, as Nataniel didn't bring home strays, and he'd prefer to not be questioned, no matter how normal the cat looked now.

Mm. Even the cat was concerned with hurting and dying, though. Somehow Nat had thought that maybe a being from an entirely different planet would have a different range of fears. But he supposed not. Such was life. Anything with a heartbeat feared losing it- Did it even have a heartbeat, though? The snowy creature did look entirely like a cat, but maybe it didn't need to be built like one... He shook his head. Irrelevant, he supposed. "I'm not worried about that. He seemed hesitant to make a scene."

He dropped his bag to the ground and moved toward the back of the apartment, toward his bedroom. "I keep a pet chinchilla. Please contain whatever feline urges you have around her. Even if I don't mind inviting you in, you'll be right back out if you even look at her wrong."

"I won't hurt your friend." Arthur promised as he followed the man into his apartment and into his bedroom.

It was a comfortable space. Lived in but clean with a desk, large windows, and white bedspread. It wasn't in any way quirky or eccentric but looked like a average if not nice room. Actually, it was slightly strange in that there wasn't much in the vein of keepsakes or even photos.

The chinchilla in question had his attention for a long second before he moved past it, moving in much the same way any cat would in a new room. Arthur curled up on the floor and started licking his arm and wiping his face, working to clean the blood off.

"Is it safe for me to talk?" He whispered as he passed momentarily in his cleaning.

There were not many people Nataniel invited into his bedroom because there was only seldom reason to. He didn't play couch co-op games with people. He didn't have any items he wanted to show off to friends. He didn't want to watch movies at his place. He didn't want his conquests knowing where he lived. Kitty would not have been invited over if he didn't have the oddity of being a man in a cat's body. Still, as the snowy feline entered the room, Nataniel watched with suspicion.

He wasn't an individual that enjoyed clutter, so it wasn't as though there was much for the creature to get into and disrupt, but it was still hard to say to what length he should trust a Mauvian, something he knew next to nothing about. If he would've been a fearful sort, he wouldn't have allowed this.

Instead, the dominating question of why still plagued him.

Nataniel shut the door once they were both inside and took up a seat in his computer chair, twisting it about to face the cat more fully. "It's safe. Gabe must be out with friends." The younger man was far more sociable than Nataniel cared to be. "Do you use names where you are from?"

"Oh, I'm sorry. That's very rude." He paused in his cleaning to rise up and move over to him, lifting up a paw. "Arthur. A pleasure to meet you given the circumstances."

"I have to admit. I don't really get the chance to just chat with a civilian. Sort of a hush-hush policy not to scare a normal person and make them be questioned by their peers."

Arthur. What a normal name for such an allegedly abnormal creature. Nataniel squinted hesitantly down at the offered appendage. Earth manners, he couldn't help but note. Would another planet have the same type of gestures? Confusion aside, he leaned down to gingerly take the paw between his fingers and give it a small shake before leaning back in his chair. "And I am Nataniel." Should he bother asking who had given him such a normal name? Or should he skip to the 'hush-hush' topics Arthur spoke of?

But no knowledge was bad knowledge. Even if everything the cat said to him was a lie, the type of lie told was information about what kind of thought process this thing had in its own right. "Who named you?"

It perhaps wasn't the most important of topics, given that Nataniel still knew very little about the various actual monsters he'd come into contact with recently, and Arthur at least seemed to know something about that. "Are you sure you shouldn't be doing more to alert normal people of whatever is going on? It sounds as though you have some variety of concern about them." Though Nat couldn't guess why a space cat would care what happened to anyone here.

Fortunately, it wasn't as though Nataniel had anyone he cared to talk to about literally anything, let alone something that made him sound like an actual crazy person.

"It's nice to meet you, Nataniel."

The man seemed otherwise civil and Arthur offered respect to anyone who didn't immediately dismiss what he had to say or ignored him in favor of treating him like any animal.

"My owner named me. Many Mauvians don't know they are one until later. So we are raised as cats, act like cats, believe we are cats before we start to notice our differences to felines and awaken more to our purpose. I suppose some of my kind can rename themselves to give themselves a stronger sense of identity, but I deeply loved the friend who took care of me. I cherish the name."

Nataniel was a curious sort to not think he was insane and freak out. In fact, he was inquisitive if not a bit to the point.

"It's easier said then done. We can't show proof without jeapordizing my own people for capture or dissection. The media is also controlled to place us in the worst light or simply brush any events the people might question. Keep everyone comfortable and focusing on their own lives. Message boards are safe but we are about as believable as if I was interviewed for a tabloid. Imagine it. "Alien cat talks of war between Chaos and Order. Page 5." He lifted a paw as if reading the large print of some humor magazine.

"It would get a chuckle and that's all. Even if I spoke on TV, CGI has come along so far that anything could be passed off as computer graphics."

If Mauvians typically didn't know they were from another planet, was Arthur insinuating that even he, at one point, had been unaware that he wasn't an average cat? Absurd. How could he speak like a human and not realize that something was amiss? Also it would imply that he'd never been to his planet, and so what made him think that it existed? Nataniel hummed a quiet note of thought. He supposed it was possible he may have been brought over young, so as not to remember anything, or maybe there was some other form of mind trickery afoot...

Nataniel really had no way of knowing what was possible and what was nonsense. It certainly all sounded like nonsense, but considering recent events, and the fact that he'd seen this cat turn into a man and back, what was he to even think?

"Did your owner know what you were, then?" That word, though, 'owner,' implied someone who acted as if they owned and cared for a pet. ...It could be an other world slave situation. Arthur wasn't as aggressive or independent as literally any other strange being Nat had met, and he did seem complacent by comparison. But it didn't sound as though the 'friend' took care of him anymore; a temporary situation, then.

Perhaps neither had known.

"Your suggestions all involve telling people en masse and without the benefit of a face-to-face interaction. What prevents you from informing others in the same manner as you are with me now? ...Perhaps with a bit more subtlety?" It would be difficult to deny the proof of the situation when it was directly before him. A cat was speaking to him, after all.

His eyes narrowed. "What 'war.'"

"She didn't know. By the time I really came fully into my abilities, she had passed away and I missed my chance. If I had the ability to turn back time, I would have loved to tell he the things I've always wanted to tell her. But so it goes." He said with a tone of sad resignation.

"I have tried but many people are quick to dismiss what they see and here. Hallucinations. Lack of sleep. Heat stroke. A bad case of medication. Drinking. Stress. I've heard people mutter any excuse out loud and work hard to get distance between me and themselves. No one likes their health and sanity questioned out if the blue. It worries them. They freak out. Children are more responsive but easily disregarded and I don't want to endanger them with knowing too much. There had been a few people who considered me a celestial messenger but wanted to ask if I knew their future or could give them winning lottery ticket numbers."

He breathed out as he thought of all these people. " There is a war for the planet. As clique as it sounds, it is against the forces if darkness, or chaos, against the forces of light, or order. I'm a guardian of Order. We seek to keep Chaos from winning and taking control of this city, because if they do, the people here would be under their influence. Chaos drains other, brainwashes their people, threatens their loved ones, and creates monsters like youma and wraiths from the starseeds of people to do their bidding. There is a disregard if human life and many have killed."

So it was that she hadn't known- that neither of them had known. And that Arthur's owner had 'passed away' in the time it had taken him to learn what he was... Perhaps she'd been elderly. An old woman taking care of a cat was hardly a strange occurrence. It did make Nataniel wonder when Arthur had learned. Who'd been the one to tell him? What could the circumstances have possibly been?

...But that seemed personal, and Nataniel's interest in delving that deep was nonexistent.

"I see," he murmured, leaning back in his chair and casting his dark gaze toward the ceiling. Even Nat could remember thinking something similar, when he'd seen dog-boy that time... That he was hallucinating, that he'd been drugged, that he'd been dreaming. It wouldn't explain the bite on him the next morning, even if he could pretend to rationally justify everything else. So of course he could expect others to behave similarly. This was at least a justification he could live with.

Even if it was still absurd to be having a conversation with a cat. "I suppose I have seen evidence of that," he admitted. Though it had hardly felt like there were sides. Where was all the good, compared with all the chaos he'd seen? A dog-boy, a youma, a corrupt senshi. These things he'd seen, and there didn't seem to be much to combat them. His attention fell back to the cat. "Do you expect your side to succeed?"

"As far as anyone can expect to win anything in a war. I can only hope that our side can protect this city. There is no end to the chaos until something changes and in the current state, nothing has come. I can only hope we figure a way to push them back and keep them at bay. What I want, if I could have everything, is to bring back those taken from the other side. To purify them of the darkness and make them knights and senshi once more."

He yawned as he stretched.

"So no, then," Nataniel answered simply, the corners of his lips twitching up in something that was almost amusement as he propped an elbow against the armrest of his computer chair and settled his chin in his palm. As someone who was little more than a bystander himself, he had to admit that being a 'Guardian of Order' didn't seem particularly promising. ...Though there had been many complaints about chaos from the small scattering of people he'd met, hadn't there?

Maybe it wasn't as hopeless as first appearances would imply. He didn't know the full scope of what was possible versus what wasn't, but Arthur made it sound as though it wasn't impossible to change which side someone was on.

"Is that a power you have?" Nataniel asked. He eyed the cat sitting on his floor before leaning down and extending a hand to him, as he would toward a normal cat who may want to investigate him. As someone with sapiens-level intelligence, Nataniel doubted Arthur would need to sniff him, but honestly, who was to say? If he'd lived even just his early life as a normal feline, habits could be hard to break.

That didn't say much for how awkward it was to think there was a man hidden under that cat-facade, but Nat could ignore that for now.

"Sadly not. I Am not the most impressive member of order. Guardians are support. Paper pushers and technical support. We aren't as power or as glamourous as those with power that can fight. Those would be the Royal Knights, Princesses, and Princes. Those of the highest ranking most attune to their power. Guardians - lack that power. We are not able to pull as much from our shared planet as those who can. This limits what we can do. It's why I can't just be human all the time as much as I would like. It's a drain. So instead we use our minds to do what those can't."

The invitation got a little 'prrt' of attention before he moved over and rubbed his side against Nate's hand. "May I have your lap?" He asked.

"Unless you feel I should go."

Indigo_Plateau

That sounded more... strangely reasonable than most anything else that had been said that night. Kitties weren't there to start physical fights. Not like the youma, agents, and senshi were. Nataniel wasn't sure why that rung as something that made sense- But probably because it felt as though not everyone on the earth should be super powerful. Something had to be there to balance the absurd abilities Nat had witnessed in others with the fact that still so few people knew what was going on.

It turned out the balance was cat-people of all things, but that wasn't really much more odd than shadow demons...

"Hm..." He let his fingers skate along the side of Arthur's silky fur and back up to rub at the base of his ear. That didn't mean he was exactly comfortable and completely understanding of all the information that had been imposed on him. But he didn't hate cats, and Arthur seemed calmer and more reasonable than even most normal people.

Nataniel glanced toward the door, as if expecting his roommate might appear. And then toward Dusk, who must surely be discontent that there was a cat in the room. But he didn't see or hear anything odd from either source, so he gave a clipped nod in the snowy feline's direction. "I suppose that would be acceptable," he murmured as he sat back, granting space to the cat to do as requested.

With the silent grace of most cats, Arthur kept up into his lap, doing a turn enough to curl into the lap and make himself easily comfortable. It had been a while since he got to enjoy a nice, warm lap.

"Anything else you want to ask? I'm wondering if I'm not making how you see the world more difficult or not. It's a lot for even the senshi I awaken to take in and it usually takes a while for it to digest."
