Myles wanted to stand up immediately, that much was apparent. Instead, he managed to wait, albeit barely, for Derryl to move from his spot and allow him to rise. If he recognized the manipulation he gave no indication that such was the case. Perhaps his ignorance was earnest, or perhaps he only saw what he wanted to see.

"I'm sure there's plenty of time," he said, taking the hand eagerly. He laced fingers with Derryl enthusiastically. "But it doesn't stop me from being any less excited. I won't choke, I promise. I'll be careful. Where do you want to go first?"

He was practically bouncing in every step, too eager to have made a rational choice anyway.

Myles was a fan of simple pleasures; he didn't need much. He liked food, he liked soft clothes, he liked laughing and fun and games. He liked people and surprises, and pretty lights.

He liked Derryl.

Or, at least, he liked to think that he liked Derryl.

So far this was pleasant. Myles behaved properly, and he would be treated as such. That hand that laced with his own was brought to Derryl's lips, a soft kiss placed to the back of it, before he allowed Myles to tug him along as he liked.

It wasn't as if the boy could really get that far to begin with. Derryl was stronger than him, and simply wouldn't be moved if he didn't want to be.

"I mean, if you insist on eating quickly, I might have to baby bird the food to you. Wouldn't that be a sight to see?" He joked, of course, the very thought disgusting him. "There are a few different things... Though I suppose we should wait on the eating part. What if one of the games shook you up and you'd get sick? I'd hate to take you home so soon. So perhaps a game? I could consider winning you a prize."

Myles seemed to be trying to imagine 'baby-birding' but his nose wrinkled. "If you wanted to get your tongue in my mouth, you could just kiss me."

He laced his long fingers into Derryl's tightly and swung their hands slightly as he looked up at the man, keen to let him lead. "Do you play a lot of games?"

He couldn't imagine it; Derryl seemed the sort to be too serious to enjoy games, but there was something about how confident he was, about how determined he was, that gave Myles the distinct impression that he could probably do anything he set his mind to. It wasn't that he wanted a prize, more that he was just impressed Derryl would offer. "--I want to see you play," he decided quickly. "I can wait to eat. It will be fresher for Riggs if we bring him leftovers, anyway! --I can't play games. I mean, I can. I do. But I can't play well. My hand-eye coordination is."

He paused. "Well, it's bad. Do they have a photo booth? I want a picture with you. If that's okay. But you have to smile."

"Huh, aren't you forward...? I didn't think you were one for alot of PDA in public. I'll keep that in mind when I'm wearing something a little more comfortable." Being dressed in professional slacks did not make it easy for a spontaneous bout of intimacy, perhaps behind a booth or between two cars in a shaded area.

Perhaps after. once they could go home and be in peace. And no random squeals of children and teenagers nearby.

"I don't play games often, no. I don't seem to have alot of time to, but when I do have time, I seem to spend most of it catching up on TV shows I missed. But if it's a shooting game, I'm certain I could get a proper shot in. Alright, Myles, bit by bit we'll get to all of it, but... Hm... I'm sure there's a photobooth nearby, and I can promise to smile if that's what you'd like, but one at a time. Pick a game and we'll play it."

Myles paused and laughed softly when Derryl mentioned being too forward. "Well--no, we're dating. I'm not ashamed of that. Are you?" he was too easily excited to stick to a single question and answer, though; he glanced around with wide eyes and tried to pick a single game to play. He was horrible at anything that involved depth perception or great finesse, but he figured even he couldn't mess up ring toss too badly.

There was a well decorated booth advertising the game nearby and he gave Derryl's hand an excited squeeze. "Well--then, ring toss? It's right there. Oh, but there's a shooting game just a few stalls down if you'd rather? I don't mind. I'm just excited that I get to go out with you at all. I'll have fun with anything," he promised--and the smile on his face indicated that he was already pleased with just showing up.

"Of course I'm not." It was blunt and firm, but clear he wasn't about to entertain that thought for much longer. Myles was simply good enough for his purpose. Anything more he didn't deserve yet, and that included any more consideration than what Derryl found absolutely necessary.

... It was like dealing with a child. And annoying child who couldn't make up his goddamn mind.

An artificial smile came to Derryl's face, one that he was so used to giving whenever he had to deal with loud kids or annoying women demanding attention. "Well then, ring toss it is. As you said, it's right here."

Without asking any questions, he put down a 10 on the booth, and received the handful of rings from the vendor. Then, he passed a few more than half over to his partner.

"Here, go on. Let's see if you have some finesse in those arms of yours."

If something was amiss, Myles was oblivious. He trusted the smile, trusted his companion, trusted that things were good. It didn't matter if their entire relationship was built on a lie, on blackmail--Myles was too quick to sweep it under the rug and make the best of it.

"Oh," he said, accepting the rings awkwardly. He dropped one almost immediately and dipped down to pick it up, dropping two more in his haste before he stood up again with all of them collected. "Okay!"

Myles was clumsy. He had no depth perception. He hardly ever even wore the glasses he was supposed to wear. But, he smiled, because he wasn't competitive enough to care if he lost to Derryl.

"I can save you the wait and tell you that I don't," he said, squinting at the bottles, doing his best to aim, and flinging one with such force that it hit the side of the bottle he was aiming for and flew into the air before falling and bouncing over several more bottles before actually settling on a different bottle entirely.

Myles seemed surprised by this, clearly not expecting it to land but being nonetheless delighted. "Oh! That was lucky! Your turn!"

There was a quote that briefly came across Derryl's mind as he watched the ring bounce around. Fortune favors the bold, but instead of bold, the word stupid came to mind when the ring finally settled down.

It was so hard to simply have fun with someone who would simply keep chattering away without a single interesting thing to say. But the ruse could not be kept up by simply ignoring the boy, so he gave a little clap when he made it.

"Ah, look at you, lying through your teeth. Now I'm half certain you'll beat me at this." Derryl took his turn, tossing the the ring somewhat carelessly, and watched in minor annoyance when it missed.

"I think you may be better than me at this game. Somehow, I feel a sense of pride at that. You're up."

Myles glanced at him with an unsuspecting, earnest smile. "I'm hardly good at anything, Derryl," he laughed, but there was a little bit of hope. Myles wasn't competitive and legitimately seemed to just be trying to enjoy himself. He turned back to the rings and puffed his cheeks out for a second as he tried to plan where to throw. When he was ready, he screwed his lips to the side and tossed--this time was a far more expected response. He missed quite spectacularly; the ring rattled against a bottle before toppling downward and hitting the ground.

"I wouldn't lie to you though," he promised, gripping another ring. He tossed it, again missing. Either his luck had run out or he had been rattled by the idea that Derryl thought he was lying. "I just...just wanted you to know. I do always try to tell the truth..."

And there was the little voice in the back of his head that said he probably shouldn't do something that would make Derryl mad at him.

"Don't overthink it, Myles. It was simply a joke, nothing more. I know you're far too sweet and earnest to lie." That, and possibly too stupid to think of any that were at least somewhat convincing.

And... Whatever fortune had in store, it quickly dissipated and proved Myles to be as much of a failure as Derryl expected.

No matter. These games were often rigged anyway. With a quick little analysis of the game, he waited until his companion was finished losing all his rings, before tossing his own. Not 100% accuracy of course, but certainly more than enough rings landed around the necks of those bottles to earn a decent prize.

"Ah. I suppose I did well because I was thinking about how much you tried. I wanted to win because of you so... Do pick out a prize you like, okay?"

Myles was visibly impressed and laughed, nothing but happy for Derryl. Still, he seemed surprised that Derryl would offer him any sort of prize. "--Are you sure?" he asked, seeming a little excited. It wasn't that he necessarily wanted any of the prizes; he'd been happy enough just to spend time with Derryl.

He'd never been on a date like this and he couldn't help but smile, bumping elbows with Derryl. "That funny looking little dog," he said, pointing to a soft looking plush toy with a smushed face. "If it's okay! I like that one, it makes me smile! Like you."

"Of course I am. A toy suits you far more than it does me." Cute, cheap, and childish. It ticked all the little slots that Myles filled in. At his urging, Derryl pointed at the dog, and pulled it down, offering it with a smile.

"A dog, hmm? Best to keep that away from Riggs then. he might think you're bringing him a new friend and won't let it go. But now that we've got our first prize of the night, let's eat something, then keep going, alright?"

Myles nodded, eagerly accepting the dog and holding it close to his chest. "Anything you want," he said easily, smile on his face as he treasured the little toy. He had an affinity for stuffed animals, regardless of how childish or unnecessary it was; they brought him joy and he treated this one as if it were some ancient artifact that needed to be preserved.

He hesitate and kissed his cheek--brief and fleeting, as if afraid of damaging Derryl's reputation by doing it in public. "Thank you, Derryl. I'm having fun."

... Sometimes, Myles could be cute. Like that kiss on his cheek. Derryl could appreciate that, especially since it wasn't accompanied by some ridiculously long tirade about one thing or another. A quiet kiss and a thank you was all he needed, and in turn, it earned Myles a hand on his head and a little ruffle to his hair.

"You're welcome. Though you should be careful with those kisses. I might just pick you up and take you home for a bit more adult fun if you keep teasing me."

Pink blossomed across Myles' cheeks and ears at that and he had to look away for a second to compose himself. The smile didn't leave his face and he laughed sheepishly. "I wasn't teasing you," he insisted. "I just like kissing you. And spending time with you. I don't get to go out and do things like this a lot and...it's nice," he said, and despite his flighty, giddy, enthusiastic view on everything he seemed to genuinely mean it.

"The night is still young. We don't have to go home yet." He stayed close to him, smile still on his face. "But we can do whatever makes you happy. I'm already happy enough that I don't think anything could bring me down."
