Unfeeling eyes wandered around the gallery, taking in the sight of it. They were... passive about it. It certainly was impressive, but there was no emotion to be felt by them. 01110100, designated T for simplicity was only here for the networking of the comet. They had been assigned to attend this gala, make connections, see if there were any other Homeworlds that they could create an agreement with and regularly trade services, goods, and other such things.

Which meant that T had been wandering around, trying to catch bits of conversation so that they may get an idea of what they could use to leverage to start conversations and to see if any others might be in need of the comet's services. He had even brought a piece of "art" from the comet so that they could create good will between Takamizawa and Chronos.

Still... it seemed as though this gallery had quite the number of artifacts, and from what T could tell, not all of them would have been given up so easily. Was it any surprise though? Not all collectors obtained their items through legal means. And T had no feelings on it either. They either had the artifacts or didn't. And they had gotten their own submitted piece from Takamizwa, that was all that mattered.

T continued to listen in, trying to catch snippets of other's conversations, moving it to the back of it's mind and trying to keep them within their memory.

It was Duty of one kind that had brought him to the gala. Duty of a page in training to the wonder of Giza. The invite had come to the academy, offering the promise of a break from his studies and from how very homesick the distance from Uranus was making him. He missed the marketplace, the pyramids. He missed his parents and his sisters. He missed Kes...

It'd been years since he'd seen her. First she'd gone into the academy, then by the time he'd followed after she'd already been left. He had no way of knowing when he'd get a chance to see her again, and her certainly wasn't expecting to see her here.

And yet...

The shocking of seeing her there distracted, at least for a moment, from the obvious air of grief that seemed to hang around her like a miasma. He saw instead the curve of her cheek beneath the veil, the sweep of her shoulders beneath the black. She looked to him both exactly the same as she always had, and yet still so different. Time and distance had changed her. Changed them both.

But as he moved towards her, undeterred by the arrival of another woman offering wine, it was impossible not to see the lack of a smile, the light in her eyes. The excitement he felt at seeing her was overwhelmed by a wave of concern as approached the pair.

A hand lifted to touch fingers to her arm as he stopped beside her. "Zoji?" It was soft and questioning, but he flicked a look up to the woman in silver, dipped his head in a respectful nod of greeting.

The Victim - You know a terrible truth, though most wouldn't believe you. Genevieve Degrasse has risen to prominence in record time on account of her brilliance at bartering, but it's more than that...if you have something she wants and you stand your ground, she will outright take it for herself. The rumors have all been nipped at the bud or otherwise frowned upon--think of the scandal, ousting a respected knight from her community!--and many of the others who have experienced it themselves were vetted well before entry. Somehow, you've managed to sneak through the security measures, and you're in. The artifact she took from you is in view, labelled poorly and out of context. You have to play it smart--one violent move and you're booted from the wonder. But you have to do something.

Thief was all that the plant-like creature could think as they sneaked into the hallway, roots and leaves subtly keeping an eye out and checking out the hallways first before moving to the next room. It had been easy enough to get in. Their robe that they usually wore covered their body so that they could more match what was expected of the guests here, and a mask hadn't been hard to create to "blend in" with whatever other creatures were here.

After all, Ethimei was there for one reason and one reason only. Their sacred artifact, a glass flower that was they symbol of their tribes' pact of peace, had been stolen. The thief had brazenly taken it from it's pedestal and left the moon when they were done.

Nothing of the sort had been heard of before on Larissa. It was a peaceful planet and the inhabitants kept to themselves. The glass water lily was a symbol of peace on the moon and something that was quite revered. No one dared to touch it. They didn't know how it had come about, it had been discovered one day and they had all agreed that it was an object of great importance and that it should be revered.

AND IT HAD JUST BEEN TAKEN!

The collections had been outraged! Whoever did it would no longer be allowed on the moon! They were to be banned from the moon forever! But could they follow it and get it back? One young one, who had experience in getting items that were hard-to-get without using violent means, Ethimei, had volunteered to go looking for it. And it eventually landed them here. All they wanted back was the flower. They had no use for any of the other objects, and they were not here to fight. They only wanted their artifact back.

There wasn't a parlor trick glamour in the world that could stop Zoji La from recognizing Hvergelmir. The glittering star, the lighthouse in one of the many ports of call that Crims had called home. Beautiful, effervescent, and an absolute relief to see, especially with a wind glass in hand.

"Oh, I could kiss you," Zoji La hummed, a grateful smile peeking out from under her veil when she reached for the beverage. It gave her something to do with her hands instead of fidget and pick, and the company that came with it was simply second to none. To anyone else, the black and purple was a mystery requiring context, a strange heavy cloak on a woman who was supposed to be light as air, but Zoji La didn't need to explain herself to Hvergelmir--she needed only to exist as she was, and for once she didn't have to put on airs. She envied the Knight of the Cosmos for her resilience and composure, the ability to lift her chin and drop her shoulders and make pretend that the skies of their lives weren't gray and listless. Still, the smile on the opal woman's face suggested a weariness that Zoji understood, and she nodded solemnly as she took her first sip.

Zoji sighed, crinkling her nose--she hated that question, mostly because she'd never been a particularly good liar, and she despised playing games she couldn't win. "Not so bad as at first, but...it's still difficult to believe. Sometimes I expect that this whole time, he's had us with one of his little tricks, and that the right wind will bring him back to port like nothing happened." She glanced up at the tapestry, tilting her head with a difficult smile. "It's a beautiful piece," she said, doing her best not to choke. "Captures that vagabond spirit of his. You should be proud."

She caught motion at the edge of her field of vision and turned just in time to watch a masked man reach for her. At once her posture tensed and her eyes widened, only to soften when she studied his features. His was a face she'd known, and a voice she remembered, though both of them had been smaller the last time she'd seen him. "Amon," she replied, soft and awed as she looked him over. "Aren't you a sight for sore eyes. Done with the Academy so soon?" She couldn't feel his aura to know if he'd yet graduated as a page, but that was no surprise--all auras were dulled here somehow, making peasants and kings equal and alike. It was probably not the intent, given the history of the reigning Chauvet, but she appreciated it all the same.

She stepped back, making room for a conversation for two to grow into a group chat. "Amon--this is Hvergelmir, Knight of the Cosmos. We have a mutual friend that's brought us together." And then, turning back to Hvergelmir, she nodded. "Hvergelmir, this is Amon. He's a native Uranian, and a long-time friend." In both instances, there was a certain weight to the way that she said friend that belied another meaning.

This was going to be a lovely event! It was a gathering of others from across the Cosmos and he had been allowed to attend, since he was more social than most from his planet. He was one who preferred to deal with people, when allowed, rather than take up arms...though that was more the way his people were.

That was the thing though...they weren't his people...not entirely anyway. He'd grown up on Earth and once trained he'd been sent elsewhere - far from home. Maybe that was, in part, why he liked to handle diplomatic things. He wanted to travel and see other places, to talk to other people. Here though, away from Castor, he felt all the wonder of a child as he stared at everyone. Dressed in various shades of blue and silver, crystal hints here and there, the platinum blond found himself reaching up to fiddle with the ear cuff he wore. It was a gift...and something prized by him - it meant a lot.

Adjusting his mask, as his fiddling had shifted it askew, Alkanet focused back on those around him. So many people! Who to mingle with first, and perhaps strike up some sort of worthy conversation. Oh! He was glad to be here.

The aggrieved pair made excuses the moment they could get a word in edgewise.

“Ah dear me… I think I left my hand bag in the Gallery. I really must get it, I couldn’t bear to lose it.” The lady said, fluttering her fan as she made a hasty little curtsy and fled. Her companion looked panicked at being left alone with Sylmare, coughing as he tugged at the top of his fancy dress coat.

“Um… yes, well. I believe my wine glass is empty. If you’ll excuse me.” He gruffed, slipping away before they had drawn breath to comment about the server standing ten paces away, tray full of glasses. A frown pulled their pale brows together, the corners of the wide mouth pulling down.

Unfeeling, that’s what those two were. Who cared if some magical beast disappeared forever, when the fashion on Venus changed with the whims of its people? Far more interesting. Bah.

The whole point to coming to this thing was the chance to mingle and suss out possible new worlds for relocation. Even just one new avenue to explore would make the night a success… The recent drop in population was concerning, and made the work so much more critical these days. They’d had half the foals of previous years… half the chances to find new lands to start new herds in. Sylmare sipped their forgotten wine as they cast a glance about the gala, blue eyes slipping past fancy clothes and fancy hair to light on something pleasantly gree

“Ah! Yes, hello!” The tall Earth knight said as they swept up to the stranger, making a lavish bow that swept out the long trailing tail of their embroidered coat. “Sylmare Daeqen, if you please.”

They extended a long-fingered hand, the fine lines at corners of mouth and eyes creasing with their wide smile.

“Page of Earth. Have you been? I’m afraid I don’t recognize the planet you hail from, but it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance. Have you had the delight of seeing a Unicorn before?”

The Tradesman - During her travels, young Genevieve Degrasse approached you for the purchase of one of the relics currently on display in the gallery. You suspect that she's invited you here to broker another deal for something you weren't willing to part with the first time.

The King of Encke surveyed his surroundings, as any King may, from above, eyes flicking back and forth, observing those around him, taking in their dress, their status, their relationships, their connections, and their choice in socialization once they came.

Who stayed on the wall? Who looked at the gallery? Who eyed the objects it contained? How did they eye them?

And what was contained within?

Ignatius' glowing eyes eventually found the robes where they stood in preservation on a mannequin, and he nearly grinned. It gave him a surge of pride to see the items of their people in a different world, displayed prominently for anyone to see as they wished. There, people could see what wonders came from The People's Comet, learn them, perhaps want to live them themselves. And that was the ultimate plan, wasn't it?

His eyes wandered over to his companion, to whom his expression softened just slightly for.

Not too affectionate, lest--

"You were invited because you have traded with her before. How fortunate that I also was, hm?" An eyebrow playfully raised. "Do you believe the squire of Chauvet may have ulterior motives, Caelestis?"

He'd been looking around, trying to find the knight of this wonder, when someone else happen upon him. Taken by surprise the senshi shook his head slowly. "N-no...I've never seen a unicorn. I've read about them...part of my lessons..." Though there hadn't been much to be read, scant few pages in a handful of books.

"Glynvalur Karthol...senshi of Kiuchi..." Though he doubted they'd veer heard of his home, he was certain they would be clueless about his sphere. He wasn't likely to be the most well known...aside from those who might know of his home worlds long standing war with Panacea. He was, in part, hoping to run into the senshi of the planet in order to try and mend things...without others around to interfere. He didn't think it would work but he had some amount of hope, it would be for the best of their respective people.

"It's a pleasure to meet you as well." Bowing his head slightly, hair sweeping across his mask. Maybe not either of the people he was looking for but he was happy to meet someone anyway. Not to mention they had opened up with an interesting topic - unicorns.

"Ooooh! You've brought along a Mars knight, have you?? My goodness, isn't he handsome," Genevieve cooed, appraising Tiryn like he might have been a painting...or a steak. She lifted a pale manicured hand in offering, like she expected a handshake or a kiss. "Ser Pryce, it's simply an honor to have you here with us this evening. I do hope you enjoy the gallery, and if there's anything you might require, all you need do is ask. We want all of our guests to experience the utmost comfort while they're here, after all."

She giggled, shooing away Kethra's introduction with a waving hand. "Kethra, starshine, stop it, you're going to make me blush! And you know if you get any unwanted flirtations you are more than welcome to send them my way. I'd be sure to set anyone...right." Genevieve shimmied her shoulders with a knowing grin, biting her lip. The last question made the newly minted squire gasp, but politely so, covering her mouth.

"Oh starlight, you can't just ask me to choose a favorite, that's--well, it's like asking a mother to pick her favorite child!" Even in scolding, Genevieve's tone remained light and jovial, and on a moment's notice she whipped out a fan to bat in front of her face, preening in front of the couple. "But I promise, just as soon as the Astrarium's done I'll be sure to send word, and we'll have to go stargazing together. We must, we simply must."

One of her attendants nudged her towards a vision in green, and Genevieve gasped again, closing her fan with a snap. "Ah, but I must see to my other guests--you know how it is, dear. Please do make yourselves comfortable, enjoy the evening dears!" With one final wink at Daryn, she curtsied and made her way over to the fascinating gorgon senshi, snapping her fan open once again for a flirting wave.

"Your outfit is simply stunning," she opened, smiling under her fan. "Takes my breath away, you could say. I feel completely petrified, in the turned to stone sort of way." She curtsied towards Kiuchi, tilting her head down in deference. "Tell me, what do you think of my gallery?"

She tilted her head to appraise the Earth knight as well, still smiling under her fan. "And yours as well, dearest! Simply splendid! I heard from the peanut gallery that you were promoting some sort of--conservation effort? How quaintly philanthropic, I love it, what a wonderful thing to do for our galaxy, preserving beastkind." Genevieve batted her eyelashes sweetly.

And there she was! One of the two he was looking for! How wonderful, and coming to him just as he was talking to someone new. Well, he'd just have to balance the conversation...or so he figured. Instead it seemed the knight was more than happy to talk to them both.

"I'm glad you like my choice in outfit." Bowing in return he kept a smile on his face. "The gallery is lovely, a splendid gathering of fine arts from all over...a very lovely way to see what each place has to offer." It did give an idea to the cultures around the cosmos and what sort of art to expect from them. It was lovely.

"I was rather hoping to run into you tonight. Perhaps you, and your gallery, might like a piece from one of the many master craftsmen of my own planet. Something you can work with them on?" He offered before his attention drifted to the Earth knight. "Does she speak truth? Are you working on preserving unicorns? I don't know much about them but I assume they are in danger then...." His words trailed off as he gently shook his head.

"That won't do. From what I've read of them they are lovely creatures - something worth preserving...and not in stone." Although a statue of a unicorn would be lovely, of that he was sure. Something in marble and inlaid gold perhaps...that was a lovely idea, and an idea to continue on with another time.

"If my planet can, in some way, offer help let me know. No need for diplomats. You can talk directly to me on the matter." He did prefer to be rather hands on, unlike some previous senshi of his planet. He didn't have an issue with his diplomats, he liked them all a lot, but he rather liked getting hands on in things...at least as much and as often as possible. It gave him a better feel and understanding of things. It wasn't always possible though - a shame really.

Viminal straightened up from his hiding place, making sure his mask was firmly in place and slipped in among the crowd. More people had shown up and he hoped that meant he was less likely to be noticed. He'd never been to anything like this before, recovering the statue was his first real task of Viminal. He just had to not flub it up.

He went into the gallery and gazed causally among the artifacts, moving slowly and admiring them while he also looked for the statue. He still had yet to figure out how was going to remove it. Though maybe causing a scene or even sowing doubt might work. He didn't know.

"Flower ... not ... what even is that ... tapestry ... ughhh statue, stature ..." he muttered as he walked. Where the hell was his statue.

Blaine swallowed, pasting a wan smile on his face, after polishing off a third glass of champagne. He needed more — something better, something stronger, something that could suppress the impending collapse of Scholomance's infrastructure. But Blaine only managed the patchwork solution of a simple trade, and in exchange, what did he receive?

An invitation to a gala. The eighth gala, thrown by Chauvet, forecasted to be one of the highlights of interstellar events and Blaine could not drown out the inevitable collapse of his position. Scholomance would fold like Blaine's reputation.

So Blaine drew a great breath, set the glass aside on some unfortunate table, and swept in with a clumsy step. He wore smiles, tossed looks, checked out a gaggle of strangers who probably had their own planets and wonders and economic collapses to think about. Some boasted great personalities. Others were bland as bread and stood about nursing their drinks. As Blaine checked the buttons on his coat, he saw others still who wore morning colors in a place as bright and boisterous as a gala. Tone deaf came to mind, but dissonance seemed more likely.

He knew how to give that social catastrophe a wide berth, however. Empty glass swapped for full, he made his way through the clusters of people, barely skirting them (and sometimes not skirting them at all) as he approached his own artifact. There it stood, one of Scholomance's many great achievements, now stuck in a dusty conservatory where it would sit, unused and unimportant, until Blaine was long dead.

For a pittance. Blaine sold years' worth of magical research and engineering for a pittance. He forced out a watery smile.

"I c--wouldn't miss this," he said first, and then couldn't help but chuckle at Kethra's reply to his comment. Of course, he quickly straightened himself out and pulled on his ever perfect practiced smile as Genevieve made her entrance into their little circle, which was just fine with him. He wasn't much for pushing past a throng of people to simply greet a host. He was still clearly new to his station and what it meant and all entailed, he knew, and he did honestly hope he would get better at...all of this. The formal side. Not everything was solved with weapons and fists, after all, and he did know that. It was the putting it into practice part that always got him.

"No, I don't believe we've met, but it is lovely to meet you," he said after Seren had finished their introduction. He offered a little bow, both in greeting and out of respect for her both earning her rank as Squire as well as the fact that she was the Guest of Honor as well as their hostess, and took her hand and gave it a very light kiss when she offered it. "Oh, the honor is mine. This is quite the party you've put together here, seconded only by the gallery. Everything is exquisite." He straightened himself out once more and listened in on what a conversation between the two seemingly good friends sounded like. It was nice, seeing Kethra in a less...sparring type atmosphere. Normally they were more focused on beating each other up--training and all--that he didn't really notice much beyond her fists or her feet aiming for some part of his body.

He didn't really get a word in on the conversation, but he gave yet another small bow as Genevieve made her exit.

"She's...lively." He hadn't expected it, really, though to be totally fair he wasn't entirely sure what to expect in the first place. Flirtatious, lively, very...animated. "Sounds like you two are pretty close."

Camellia Hae

Quote:
The Benefactor - As a philanthropist or friend, you have freely given an artifact from your wonder to the gallery for preservation. You were invited as an honored guest and have a positive rapport with the new squire, as well as most of the gallery. Wherever you go, eyes are watching, always watching...

Camellia entered the Gallery, eyes taking in the details, her expression unreadable. Ostensibly, she was here as a benefactor of the gallery... The manuscript had been hers, after all, technically, but the reality was that her father had donated it 'in her name', without her permission. Her mother's masterwork, that she died completing, and the original was to be kept under glass in a museum for strange people to gawk over and not understand the significance.

There were hundreds of original, wonderful works to have donated, but her father had given in and donated this one, even when she had told him no. It infuriated her, though she did not blame DeGrasse... After all, it had been her father who had taken the action. And now she could not reclaim it, not without causing a great scene.

She had, however, made sure to arrange to have all of her mother's other belongings locked where her father could not get them, and had contacted some friends with other forms of power then a fairly new Senshi had to make sure he had no more real power of his own, to prevent him from trying anyways.

She moved amongst the strangers and possibly various acquaintances, her mask a half mask of pure silver (it was lined with soft materials, to protect her skin), with an enameled musical score in red. Her dress was red with gold trim, the colors of Valetudo, a long affair that covered her shoulders and did it's best to accentuate what little curvature the tall woman had. She went to look at her manuscript, mournful for a moment, and was about to move to congratulate their hostess... She would do the polite thing, as needed, even if she was a touch resentful... When she almost bumped into a gentleman heading for another piece. She froze, given that he had a glass of champagne in his hand and she did not want him ruining her dress, and said "My apologies... Is that piece from your world or Wonder?"

Her tone was politely inquisitive, because it seemed easier.

Kethra barely controlled the urge to frown at the flirtatiousness of Genevieve towards Daryn. They were not involved, after all, and Kethra had no claim on him. The kiss to her knuckles had her glancing down for a moment, hiding the jealousy, because he certainly had never done that when he met her... Just walked up to her in the sparring room, and gave her his name, and asked for a spar. She felt herself thinking that she really was not very feminine, as one man at home had once told her, and thus utterly unattractive to Da... anyone, really.

When Genevieve left, Kethra called after her "Have a wonderful Gala, darling!" before turning away, so that only Daryn could see her face. He commented on them being pretty close before he had a chance, she assumed, to see her irritated face.

"Let's go get beverages." Was all she said, initially, heading towards the bar. She got herself a cold tea, wanting to be chilled off, and once they had their drinks, and a quiet corner away from others, she said "Hardly close. We were at the Academy together, and Genevieve is a social butterfly, as you might have noticed. She also, to me, always felt very shallow and self involved." She paused, glanced around, and whispered into Daryn's ear, not noticing her lip brushing his skin gently, "I have heard rumors that some of these wonderful things were gained in less then savory fashions, but there is no clear evidence."

She pulled back, and turned away a little, still feeling uncomfortable in her skin.
