Pendour stopped digging or doing much of anything at all to torn all the way to Kami and really look at his face, searching for any sings of shock or disgust. When he mentioned that he had to deal with such awful things, she gave a soft, sympathetic, "Oh." Still, since he didn't seem too overwhelmed by the rudeness, she added, "Well, Irving also used to, um, assassinate people. It's what he's trying to groom me for."

She turned back to shoving packing dirt around her tree. "If you want to help, I'm just filling it back in. Like this, see?" She shoved another handful of dirt into the hole. "I know I need a shovel, but every trip I just end up bringing plants instead." So she'd just end up with her arms covered in specks of dirt up to the elbows and the train of her gown barely recognizable as having been blue once.

"But, um," she turned away away again, "I can warn you about the cove, at least. We can go there. It's the loveliest part of the wonder, I think, but there are some remains there. Skeletons, I mean." Pendour didn't shiver at the thought anymore, but she did give a mournful look to her new tree.

"An Assassin? Wow. I mean, not that you couldn't do it, but if you don't want to then I understand why. I know I couldn't be one at least." Unless perhaps he was driven to desperation. But now was not the time for that and he hoped that it would never come up. He would hate having to start killing people for a living.

He walked over and then crouched near Pendour to look at what she was doing with her hands. When she had explained it to him, he started to copy what she was doing and helped. Or he hoped he was helping rather than making it worse.

He looked at her when she mentioned the skeletons. "Skeletons, really? And you haven't cleaned them up yet? I'm kidding of course." He said before she could react to it. "Thank you for the warning, though I suppose that's something that I might have to get used to when visiting other places." And maybe even on Earth? He hoped not. "Still, I would like to see the cove if possible. But if we can't do it this time, then perhaps another?" He really did want to explore these places and after all, a planet was much bigger than his comet. He didn't expect nearly as much there.

When he asked why she hadn't moved the skeletons yet, even joking as he was, Pendour turned away.

"I know. I should," she said. "It's just heavy work, and I keep getting distracted by the plants." Wouldn't anyone rather dig through fresh, magical soil than through old, sad bones? Also, although she didn't mention it, she'd also noticed that Irving tended to spend more time near the center of the wonder.

"Well, I think we have enough time to head over. We can finish off today's tour there?" As she gave a soft smile and turned towards the cove, she realized that she hadn't really been to this part of her wonder at all since the last time she'd had a guest. Maybe she was avoiding things.

It wasn't such a long walk, maybe five minutes to keep on the twisty garden paths. The cove was visible through most of the wonder, but there was something grand about approaching it and seeing it from its proper angle. It was dry as dry, and even most of the mosaics that made up the shore seemed a bit dusty and lifeless, but the structure remained. It was a large, sloped expanse, and circling around the sides in soft, organic curves, columns and arches rose up like sea cliffs until they reached the upper level. There were passages back there, shaded by the columns, but Pendour chose to stop where the edge of the water would have been, so that it would be easier for her guest to pretend that the odd white shapes a way back were just old coral. At the very top of the very back was a swath of seaweed and algae that almost looked like a stringy waterfall.

"This is it," she said, slowly looking back, and there was still a hint of pride in her eyes. "This is my cove."

Kami felt guilty for joking in such a way. It clearly meant a lot to Pendour. "That's... understandable." He said and agreed with her that they should continue the tour.

The walk was quite amazing though. Nothing like on Earth. He wished such amazing sights were there too, but then again if there were they would become tourist destinations and he already knew what happened to those. It was best to leave it be and enjoy it. Perhaps he could go to other such Worlds and Wonders as this.

He took a moment, when they had finally arrived, to look at the cove. After a moment, he turned to his guide and said, "I wish I had a camera, though it wouldn't be able to capture all of this beauty." He turned his head away again, looking at it some more before speaking once more. "I've said it before, but your Wonder is amazing Pendour. I wish I could have seen it in it's prime, but you know, seeing it now without all of the hustle and bustle that was probably here, it kind of makes you appreciate it a bit more. You can just see it and hear it and kind of smell it without the interruption of others here."

Pendour's gaze absentmindedly traced the arches at the back, but really she was listening. The cove had a tendency to be as quiet as the stone it was carved from, and it was always lovely to have someone along to bring a little life back into it, even with things as simple as with their footsteps and their breath. She let his wonder be her wonder and when she closed her eyes for a moment, her lips curled up into a soft smile.

Then, with that first moment over, she pulled an iPhone out of her bodice and began tapping at the screen. "I've tried, but something always seems to go wrong up here," she said. "Though your phone runs on magic, doesn't it? That might work, if it can take pictures. " The screen on her Earth-phone remained black, and she lowered it in order to give a more direct smile to Kami.

"With what I've seen and what I've heard from Irving, it seems like this place was quite the tourist destination. There's even some buildings upstairs in the back that look like those rental houses by the beach, the ones all made with the same floorplan, like cookies." She gestured vaguely up towards the second story. "It would have been a very different life, being knight then. I don't know if I would have preferred it."

Well, the war had taken its toll, too. Crowds were not a fate worse than death. "...Maybe. Anyway, I've been trying to share this place with other people as much as I can. I am glad you like it, truly."

"Well that's disappointing. But not surprising, I would think of ordinary Earth technology worked then they would have discovered all of these places already, but there seems to be some sort of magic that keeps them from working. Which is a good thing." He certainly didn't want any Negaverse agent who worked as an Astronomer or something to be able to discover what they had out here, even if they couldn't come here themselves.

Kami put his hands on his hips for another look around. "I would bet. I couldn't imaging passing this place up. But you're right, it might not have been such a wonderful place back then either." He couldn't say that it was so wonderful now of course, but from all that he had seen and heard so far, there was certainly a lot of war and fighting between the worlds, without any hint as to chaos being the cause. Even that Prince seemed to be quite proud of how war-hungry his world had been.

"It's beautiful. Thank you for sharing it with me. I just want to go and see so many places, it's not really feasible on Earth, but to be able to see places that are so... wondrous, well it truly makes me feel happy to be alive right now." It was so hard to feel that way on Earth, at least in one's ordinary life. There was so many negative things happening and being bombarded with gloom and doom all of the time, it really did start taking a toll.

Pendour's smile was soft as soft as she gazed out over where the water had once been.

Her thoughts flickered briefly towards the war, and the sadder things, but it was hard to be with a friend on her wonder and to feel anything other than hopeful. Her smilegrew a little bigger, just big enough that she could feel it tugging at her scars. "We are lucky to be alive now," she repeated, soft and dreamy, and nodded. "Even with all the rest, that's how it always feels when I'm up here. My wish for you is that you can feel that way on your own world."

Then, she trailed off again and just stared down at the mosiacs at her feet for a few silent moments. The one at her feet looked like some sort of seabird made completely of white and silver shells. She hadn't fully studied this one yet, and she almost bent down to start running her fingers across the cracks before she remembered her guest and stood up straighter instead, running her fingers through her hair.

"Well, that's my cove," she said. "I know it's getting a little late. Are you ready to see Earth again?"

He nodded at her words. And after a brief moment he said, "Thank you." Even if Pendour didn't seem to have that many happy memories associated with this place, he still felt grateful to be able to see such an amazing Wonder. He realized though, that perhaps his world wouldn't be so beautiful and might even be depressing... but that was what he was here for right? There was a reason that he had been incarnated, that Pendour had been incarnated... They were meant to be here. And he knew that if he worked hard enough, he was sure that he could do something to help his Homeworld.

He noticed that she was distracted, but only for a moment before she asked if he wanted to go back to Earth. "Yes, I think it's that time. I would love to come again sometime, when you feel like it. But I really am thankful for you showing me this place. But... it is time to go back. And maybe grab something to eat." He said, feeling his stomach rumble a bit. "I'm glad that we can wander around such a place. And knowing that there is such a place out there." He looked at her a bit more seriously. "I'll help in whatever way I can. I believe if we all work together, we can get somewhere with all of this, and not just feel like we're going nowhere back on Earth. But now's the time for rest." He smiled again, taking the Wonder in one last time before they left. He would miss it, but knew that he didn't belong here. He belonged elsewhere, and he was going to go to that elsewhere as soon as he could.
