"A vacation would make our anniversary a little extra special this year," he said thoughtfully, his fork lowered while he thought it through. They've had to keep their celebrations pretty modest the past couple years because of school and timing and all, not to mention he didn't really want to wait too much longer to go on a little getaway with her. Somewhere nice where they could enjoy some peace and quiet to themselves...
He sipped his coffee while he thought, and then eventually he met her eyes and gave her a bright smile, excitement in his amber gaze. "Why don't we see if we can find something cheap for just after Christmas? You cover the tickets, I'll cover lodging and whatever else." Tickets around this season weren't gonna be cheap unless they got incredibly lucky, and he wanted to do this for her--for them--as well. It'd be their first real getaway together, on top of that.
"Does that sound okay?"

“Sounds good to me.” Hannah smiled then set her fork down after taking one last bite of their shared pastry. “Just promise you won’t spend a fortune on a room.” Nightly rates at a hotel could easily end up costing as much as the tickets themselves depending on how many days they decided to stay. “I think a room with one bed for us to share would be fine.”
The two of them have slept beside each other several times already. Her head resting against his shoulder as she curled up against his side. Whether they were simply chit-chatting or taking a nap, with his arms around her Hannah was able to find peace as if the worries of the world lifted completely offer her shoulders
Around Tristan, it was almost too easy to forget about her responsibilities as a Senshi and just simply enjoy simply being a normal girl going to work while taking classes. This was the first and only relationship she had ever been in and yet something as simple as seeing his smile never failed to make those butterflies stir when they met up after being apart for several months.
“Do you want to get out of here? Go on a walk somewhere maybe?” The cafe was rather crowded, which was definitely good for business, but it also meant that it was a bit louder than normal.

"Promise. I might opt for a nice AirBnB instead, to be honest," he replied as he stabbed his fork into the last piece of the pastry. "Usually cheaper and has all the amenities a hotel could offer and more. Still would look for a place with just one bedroom, though." He winked at that and finally popped the last bite into his mouth.
Truthfully aside from sleep beside each other, they'd never wandered into that territory before. It had more to do with respecting boundaries than anything else, and he was fine with waiting for when both of them were ready for that next step. He was happy to just be able to spend time with her, whatever they were doing, especially when it'd been months since they'd last seen each other.
Once he washed the last bite down with the last of his coffee, at her question Tristan gave a little nod. "It's windy out, actually, so maybe we can hang out at your place or mine? We'd have to walk a little bit either way, so still works?"

"If you don't mind, I think I'd prefer to go to your place. Mine's a bit crowded with extended family visiting." It wasn't that she didn't love her Aunts and Uncles or their children. It was just loud at times and felt very cramped. But that was also to be expected since she lived at home with her parents. "Some quiet time would be nice."
Their offer had been generous. As long as she was in school and had a part-time job she could stay there rent-free. The only things she would be responsible for were her phone, contributing to groceries as well as utilities. Both of her parents had been very accommodating with her work schedule as of late especially on days where she had picked up a graveyard shift.
While it allowed her to make sizeable payments on her student loans, Hannah definitely looked forward to the day where she would be able to move out, preferably debt free if possible.

"My place is fine," he said with a little nod as he stood up. "Quiet time is a requirement right now for us. A day is honestly too long to not see you, never mind months..."
He waited for her to stand up before he took her hand, twining his fingers with hers while wearing a soft smile. "So some time to ourselves just to catch up would be good." He neatly piled everything onto the plate and led the way to the front counter and dropped off the dishes. Arianne stopped by, bright and beaming as always when she saw the two of them together.
"Thanks. Heading out?" she asked, her attention mostly on Tristan for the moment.
"Yeah, just want a quiet space to talk, catch up."
"Oh, okay. You're staying at mom and dad's right? They shouldn't be home for a while so you could probably hang out there 'til dinner." She turned to Hannah then, her smile turned ever so slightly teasing. "You're invited to dinner by default, by the way. My parents always ask when he shows up without you."

WIth eyes alight with laughter Hannah gave Tristian’s hand a gentle squeeze. While they antagonized each other occasionally, Hannah couldn’t help but find their relationship endearing; especially since she was an only child. “Thank you Arianne. Will you be there as well?” She asked since it had been just as long since the two of them had seen each other as well.

"Yes I will, sweetie. So hang out with all of us, not just my dorky little brother." Tristan made a face at that, which she ignored. "We're all family, don't you forget that." She flashed Hannah a smile before turning to see that the line had gotten obscenely long for the umpteenth time that afternoon. She heaved a sigh then. "Back to work. I'll see you both at dinner, okay?"
At that Arianne headed for the register, and Tristan sighed. "Arriane-Storm. You'd think she isn't in her late twenties with the way she talks...anyway. Let's go?"

Hannah nodded her head, then turned around to guide him out of the labyrinth of bodies that seemed to be trying to barricade them from the exit. By the looks of it, they may want to consider opening a second location; if only to thin out the herd. Either way, she was happy to see how much their family-owned cafe had grown over the years.
Once they had made it outside Hannah reached up to pull her hood over her head before looping her arm through Tristan’s.
With the exception of the sound of vehicles driving over compacted snow, it was relatively quiet outside compared the bustling cafe. Thankfully it seemed like the storm had finally let up, for now at least. While the snowflakes fell at a significantly slower pace the two of them walked side by side she leaned her head against his shoulder in an almost contemplative manner.
“I’m curious.” Hannah paused for a moment, worrying her lower lip as if she were suddenly reconsidering her question. “What are your plans after graduation? Have you given any thought as to what you’d like to do or where you’d like to go?”

He was smiling softly as they went, particularly when she tucked herself against him. Despite the many months apart, things between them stayed familiar, comfortable...and in his eyes, perfect. When her question came up he took a deep breath, hands going into his jacket pockets as he gave his answer a bit of thought. "Well, first thing's first I'm gonna be moving back to and finding a job here, in DC. It doesn't make any sense for me to go off and start living my life elsewhere when everyone that matters to me is here."
He turned his head then and pressed a kiss to her hood. "I'm thinking I could work for a year maybe at a clinic somewhere in the city, save up for art school..." There was a little pause there, as though a different thought popped up in his head and he wasn't sure how to...express it. "Of course, if other plans come up art school would take the back seat. I still do my own work so it's not like I have to stop doing art entirely, and I could still freelance like I do now."

"If art is something you want to pursue then don't be so willing to give it up. You are incredibly talented," Hannah pulled the flip book he had made her out of her jacket pocket and hugged it to her chest as if it was a cherished gift.
"The reason I ask is because I wanted to kind of get your thoughts on maybe finding an apartment or townhouse together." A feathering of pink swept across her cheeks as she looked away but it was hard to tell if it was embarrassment or the cold that caused her face to blush.

He smiled softly at her words and the way she hugged the little flip book, and he wriggled his arm free so he could instead wrap it around her shoulders. "I'm not giving it up, just...there are other priorities that at this point I would put before it."
They were standing at a crosswalk when she shared her thoughts, and he...sort of froze. Surprised, mostly, and a light blush spread on his cheeks as well at the idea of sharing a home with her. "Priorities like our life together," he said quietly as the light turned green and he started them walking again. "Mm...an apartment seems like it'd be an easier start for us. Plenty of studios or one-bedrooms that'd be cozier since it's just the two of us for now, not to mention it'd be more affordable for two kids just starting out..."

When they reached the other side of the street Hannah paused for a moment then turned so they stood toe to toe. Her deep blue, gem like eyes looked up at him searchingly, almost as if she had in part expected him to be teasing. But she saw had instead stolen her breath away.
It had taken a fair amount of courage to propose this to Tristan especially since it was the most forward thing she had ever asked of him. in their three-year long relationship. And yet, his response was absolutely sincere, so much so it made her heart swell with happiness.
"I would like that a lot." A small place of their own was all they needed. Nothing big or fancy but a home for the two of them to share. "Maybe, before you leave again, we can take a look at a few apartments. That way we might be able to have a place for you, us..., to move in to after graduation." If it made more sense that Hannah moved in first so they only had to worry about unpacking his things, she would do what she could to make sure the move went as smoothly as possible.

He blinked when she suddenly turned to face him, not expecting to be stopped in his tracks after offering his thoughts on her suggestion. Tristan met her gaze, sincerity in his warm, orange eyes as he saw that she was searching them. He meant every word--that was the next logical step for them, after all. Admittedly he hadn't expected her to suggest it first, but his thoughts on it were the same regardless.
When she found her answer his smile warmed and brightened as he again wrapped his arms around her, for the moment happily burying his face in her...hood. Since it was on. But he didn't mind.
"We can do that once we get to my place, if you want. It would make things a lot easier if I just had to move all my stuff once so if we can make that happen that'd be awesome." He pulled back a bit, hands settling on her shoulders as he once again looked into those pretty blue eyes of hers. "Have you asked your parents about it or anything?"

"I've brought it up to them," Her gaze drifted downward. "They have their opinions on the matter but choose to respect my decision." It had nothing to do with him but rather their religious beliefs made them a bit reserved but she was an adult and capable of making her own choices.
Living at home, while it makes sense financially, it offered no space and even less freedom.
Though they had been through a fair share of trials and tribulations, the two of them had worked it out. Distance had been the biggest thing to overcome but they were nearing the end of that. What mattered most is that not only did she love him but she trusted him.

His smile faltered and concern crossed his features when she answered the question. "It's not like I don't know them, but that's why I asked in the first place. I know it's what I want though, and if you're sure that it's what you want, too, then let's do it."
They were adults, after all, and well able to make their own choices...this was about their life together, and no one else's, after all. They loved each other and trusted each other...and this really felt like the next logical step for them.
He slipped his arm back around her shoulders and got them walking again. "I mean...if we just live together they're not gonna hate me until the day we get married, are they?"
