At the side of the traveling company was Sadayo who appointed herself a shepherd of sorts to keep any threats at bay. Gishin wasn't dismissed at any point through the journey and stayed close to Sadayo as a silent source of solace. The green place which everyone was eveutally lead to was pretty. The green place, as the puppeteer called it, was a change of pace from the pink, flowery glade found and lost on the Whirlpool islands. The caldera felt like a spit of land that was trying too hard to with its innate, blushing, pink pigments which Sadayo always suspected to be the handy work of an uppity bloodline. The caldera was gone, right?
Her feet hurt and her knees were feeling akin to gelatin. The expression on her face was genuinely vacant and about a stone's throw from looking arguably ready for a nap or bleak and discouraging. In time Lahlil's castle sprang from the earth and brought her direction for the able bodied shinobi to speak with her. Sadayo wasn't particularly "ready" to jump back into shinobi affairs. She devoted herself to a moment in attempt to find a sliver of peace. The puppeteer stood still, closes her eyes, and begins to breathe. A fleeting breeze stirs her hair and the ends of Gishin's dress graze against her slightly less ashy, black shoes. This was no true meditation. Any pause with her eyes closed felt like a pawing tease at her desire to rest. An attempt at finding clarity perhaps.
Sadayo at last answers Lahlil's request for attention and approaches her with Gishin at her shoulder.

Kage Bunshin no Jutsu [ Shadow Clone Technique ] Rank: B Official Description: This technique creates a solid clone of the user, unlike the empty ones formed from the traditional Bunshin no Jutsu. The user's chakra is evenly distributed among every clone, giving each clone an equal fraction of the user's overall power. The clones are capable of performing techniques on their own and can even bleed, but will usually disperse after one or two decent blows. They can also disperse on their own. The clones will be created to appear in the same condition as the original did when he/she performed the technique itself. Shadow clones can't be distinguished from the original even by the Byakugan- because the clones have the exact same amount of chakra and aren't made from any other substance. Guild Description: Creates a solid clone which is able to interact with the environment and perform any technique the user knows. The strength of each clone is dependent on the amount of chakra put into each clone. A clone can have anywhere from [1] chakra to all but [1] chakra of the user's pool. The same goes for stamina. Lohner settled in beside her, and Sonyo closed her eyes to bask in the sun as he replied to her. The warmth felt nice-- she remembered a time when she complained about the heat in Otogakure, and she still wasn't a fan despite all her time in Suna, but this was a peaceful warmth. She could feel the energy humming around her, and even Shukaku seemed at peace-- a rarity for sure."Maybe. But I'm sure you've experienced things I have never and will never experience. Like siblings-- I'm an only child. And for a seventeen year-old, you have a sureness to your voice. I assume that comes from one of your parents? Mine are dead-- killed by the UHV years ago... they never got to see me grow up..."
Sonyo opened her eyes again, drawing her knees to her chest and hugging them close, resting one cheek on them. Her mother was a horrid woman who most likely emotionally abused Sonyo for most of her life, but she had always wished to work things out with her. She never got the chance to. "Life is so short and fleeting. I continue on in hopes that others will not have to deal with what I have. Not everyone is as lucky, or unlucky, as I am to have power. But they don't deserve life any less-- no one does, really. An unpopular opinion many have debated with me. I take no pleasure, no pride in lives that are ended before their natural time. Even if that means the lives of those who oppose me, like Kogarashi."
Part of Sonyo bristled under the surface, ready for another argument. Shinobi were bred to kill their enemies, their opposition. The taking of life was something that came easily to those in Sunagakure or Otogakure because they saw it as the only option; even Nari and Theo. They were wonderful people, but didn't blink when it came to ending those who opposed them. Shukaku let out a snort somewhere deep in her mental plane-- this was one of the many things they disagreed on.

"I'd gladly trade you Takezo! Siblings I've got in spades. My twin brother Zanza, our elder sister Nanami, younger brother Takezo, and the youngest daughter, Cora. I still can't fathom just how mother keeps up with all of us." He mulled her words over carefully, mentally he repeated them to clarify and solidify his own statements to come.
Fingers threaded the grass in the embankment as Lohner found himself at a loss for what to say. This was difficult for him on the best of terms, he had rarely been confronted with a situation in which he hadn't had the terms cut-and-dry in front of him, or where he could have bypassed the need for dainty conversation and words by substitution with his fist. Yet, for as different as this moment was, the raw energy of it, being exposed to the elements, and speaking directly to someone to learn about them, instead of notes in a formally constructed dossier. He enjoyed the near religious aspect of it.
"Were I to give either parent a claim to my self-assured nature, it would be my mother. Father is... Intelligent and has candor, but he debates a lot internally and it shows on his face." His mind wandered free for a moment, caught in the influx of natural chakra and the flow of their communication to this point.
The trees, the lake, the waterfalls, all painted a majestic scene rendered mute by the woman who sat here with him. They seemed to serve wholly as a backdrop for her in this moment, nature's own chakra flowed throughout the falls in abundance. Lohner took it in a few moments more and let a heavy breath escape his chest.
His heartbeat skipped as she responded with her last sentences, the paradox of the shinobi. Are we people who should regret every life we've taken? Soldiers fighting a war, fulfilling our promises? Sociopaths who learned from childhood, to kill on the orders of a young adult in a big hat, for big titles and coinpurses? Or were we something in the middle, where we each had to find purpose as we went?
Lohner contemplated this thought for several moments, eyes now locked on Rue before he could come to any conclusion. Once he had, he spoke with the same concise voice he maintained earlier.
"Our ultimate power is choice. There is no conceivable outcome where the world is peaceable for everyone, people like us, and those like the UHV, will undoubtedly exist in every age. What matters is choice, how do we choose to vent our issues, do we choose to kill, is the choice from hatred, or necessity, do we serve a purpose, or purposely serve? Power is a non-issue, as tools can level a battlefield." Lohner stopped for a moment and tasted the words on his lips.
"Our duty is to take the one life that saves ten, one-hundred, or, one-thousand. There's no joy in taking a life, only in preserving it." He concluded and nodded as he formulated the thoughts as closely as he could.
Still spread out in the grass, Lohner felt himself absorbing more and more chakra, attributing it to the regenerative traits of the region. The large ball of negative energy was still there, but it felt masked by Rue's presence overall.
Rowena ducked underneath the trainer as he went for a slow grapple. She blocked his punch and worked on not losing her footing as she continued to manuever around the training grounds. He was intentionally fighting slow so she could interpret his attacks. His telegraphing made it easy to side-step him once more. [ Soft Physical ]
She took a heavy step backwards as he charged at her again, covering her head with her forearms as he threw a palm towards her face. She didn't much care for those palm strikes. She weaved through the training grounds until she found an opportunity to attack. She threw a punch his way, easily dodged, and took a jab to her side in retaliation. [ Hard Physical ]
He grabbed a sword, pointed it her way. She wasn't very familiar with weaponry but she accepted the second one he tossed to her. It felt foreign in her grip but he recognized that and talked her through every move. Parry, parry, drop the sword. She growled at the sensation left in her wrist from the moves but she shook hands with him after the training anyways. [ Medium Weapons: Rapier ]
He went off to train another student so Rowena took the opportunity to practice some bloodline jutsu. She flexed downwards, letting her bones protrude from her skin. She used to feel like a monster for this - still did, a little - but she understood it to be her duty to protect those around her, and it was foolish to not use every advantage. She retracted her bones slowly, feeling uneasy. It would take time to adjust to the sight. [ Stage E - Dance of the Willow: Exertion ] [ +3 BL ]
She held her palm out steadily. A long bone slowly protruded from the meat of her hand. She shaped it carefully through her chakra, willing it to be thinner at the top. She liked the way rapiers looked and wanted to learn how to fight with them. The bone sword in her palm looked like a rougher version of a rapier, but it was workable. She threw the bone sword on the ground, aiming her hand like a finger gun at the wall. With a deep breath, she steadied her chakra. Then she launched finger bones outwards like bullets. They came out with a slight spinning motion which assisted in their accuracy, much like longer barrels assisted projectiles. The trainer returned after finishing with another student, so Rowena explained which style she wanted to practice. He criticized her stance until she got low enough. She approached him slowly, with a firm grip on the back of his neck. She gripped the back of his elbow loosely until he told her to tighten it. [ Hades Stance ] [ +4 Tai ]
After some more moves, she ended up getting him on his back. She pounced, angling so they were chest to chest. She was leaning on the balls of her feet, giving her a little more weight and leverage. She wasn't sure what to do with her arms but she pinned his down, listening to his critique on her weight distribution. [ Dominating Hercules ] [ +4 Tai ]
With them still on the ground, she rolled off of him. She took her hand and dropped it to his chest sides. The bottom of her first struck the air from him. Following the direction of the technique, she went downwards with her blows until she stopped at his stomach. He released a grunt, then rolled to his feet. Rowena finished training and returned to the main area. "Rowena Kaguya, reporting for duty." She cocked a hand on her hip, not in an unpleasant way, as she waited for assignment.

A gentle smile played on her face when Lohner answered with his own philosophy, her eyes closing. It was so nice for someone to not try to force their thoughts on her, for once. Sonyo flopped back beside the male, taking her turn to look up at the sky and just relax for-- perhaps --the first time in a very long time. With each breath she took, a bit more of her body relaxed, letting go of what felt like years of tension and stress. She stayed there, her arm nearly brushing against Lohner for some time before closing her eyes. "This is nice. Peaceful. It's very rare I get moments like this... It's nice to spend it with someone like you."
Shukaku shifted in his half-slumber state inside her and Sonyo's eyebrows raised in confusion. It only took a heartbeat, but Shukaku became fully awake in her mental plane, his yawn shaking the stained glass windows of the massive cathedral. "Trying to hide what you are won't work for much longer, kiddo." He must have felt Sonyo's confusion because he continued."I can feel him gathering Nature Chakra. He's a sage. It's only a matter of time before he senses me-""Senses that I'm a monster...""I mean I wouldn't use those exact words but sure."
Outside her body a frown played on her lips, eyes still closed, face still upturned to the sky. No matter how much she tried, she couldn't just be a normal person could she? She couldn't just being a priestess who happened to be a medical ninja. She couldn't just be a helpful soul. No, she would always be Sonyo of the White sand-- no matter how much she tried to escape it.

Lohner relaxed further as he heard the priestess settled into a comfortable spot, he felt her brush against him and his eyes opened briefly as he felt a small surge of chakra. He ignored it, hoped it was nothing, and buried himself in the blissful peace of the moment once more. The sights, sounds, and fragrance of nature took away the stress and worries that had consumed him only minutes before.
Still and ever present sensation nagged at the back of the young Uzumaki's mind, an odd presence. A different chakra hung in the air, and he sensed it, unlike anything he knew before. Nature chakra continued to compound in the boy, a gift emboldened by his Senju blood, until it manifested for the first time.

Lohner pushed his hand against her elbow, not to push her away, but to steady himself as the Natural Chakra reached a critical point, he sat up and looked into her eyes as a brief physical change washed over him. His hair shifted from a medium length auburn to a longer silver. His pupils narrowed and the outer iris of his eyes turned to a golden hue. Six narrow lines fan out from the inner ridge of his cheekbones, reaching along his chin to earlobe.
He felt so much more, emotions, chakra, intent, things he still could not comprehend, but would become his world. His world spun for what felt like minutes, but passed in seconds, and his hand grasped on Rue's elbow. He felt sorrow, bitter, following peace.
The shock of awakening and the inadvertent contact led to an interesting effect, their chakra materialized ice bound over their point of contact and chains wrapped the ice as Lohner fell into Rue's subconscious realm. A familiar presence first rebuffed him, then allowed him passage to the chapel within.
Lohner's eyes opened to an array of stained glass windows, scenes he didn't know, save one, a man and a woman lain on the banks of the waterfall they were just at. A torrent of sand whipped through the room, it added to the dunes that separated the back half of the chapel from the entrance. Lohner pressed forward and scaled it to find Rue and a large being shrouded in sand hung above in the parapets.
"This is why you're sad, this is beautiful!" The newly awoken Sage remarked as he slid down the backside of the dune and stared into the artwork windows.
The truth was that the boy himself was unsure, but he wouldn't face something he didn't know with fear, but seek reason instead. He approached her still, his mental form matched to his new Sage form, while it lasted.
He turned an eye to the being chained to the ceiling.
Sonyo flinched a little at Lohner's touch, her eyes snapping open to look at the male as a physical change came over him. He didn't look animalistic, so she assumed this change was perhaps a human sage transformation like Nari had. The teenager's eyes were intense but... distant. Perhaps he was seeing something she couldn't? Her question was soon answered when the young man appeared in her mental plane, sliding down the dune that had previously blocked the door-- Sonyo remembered digging helplessly through that exact pile of sand during one of her trips here, before her and Shukaku saw eye to eye. Sonyo bristled a little, the tension showing in her shoulders and in the clenching of her jaw-- the feeling of someone being in her head was different. The sand in the cathedral hummed with emotion, bits skittering across the floor like bugs on a frenzy.
Sonyo took a deep breath, and the sand settled, her body relaxed. No... Lohner didn't deserve to see that side of her, he deserved to believe she was all good. Here in her mental plane, she felt things things more deeply. Shukaku chuckled softly behind her, one diamond-irised eye forming in the ball of sand bound by fuin inscribed chains. "Beautiful is not... a word I would use to describe this place but... thank you." Her words had to be more carefully chosen here. She didn't have the mental filter that she did in the real world.
"It took me a long time for me to become somewhat at peace here. Not many can appear in this place, my late husband was one because he was also a jinchuriki, my sensei could because he was an accomplished ninjutsu user... you have a lot of potential." Sonyo clasped her hands in front of her, almost like putting a barrier between her and the young male. She felt things too real here, too raw-- she couldn't deny or hide here. She turned to face shukaku.
"This is... Shukaku, the Ichibi. I allowed him to be sealed inside of me to save my village. He is quite the bloodthirsty beast, though I like to think I've tamed him somewhat since." She couldn't look at him-- silver hair, golden eyes, an air of strength... He reminded her of Nariomi. The stained glass windows around her warped, one side showing a scene of isolation; the village civilians in Suna unsure of her, afraid.
Knives, the previous host of Shukaku, had given them reason to be afraid. So had she, with her attack on the hospital just a few months before-- they were scared of shu and her, they saw them as one and the same. Anger bristled in her at the memory, her eyes closed. Whirls of azure flared at her arms, dancing under sleeves like they were alive.
"I wanted you to believe me as just a simple priestess. Should my life have taken a different path perhaps I may have been... Just a simple priestess of Evergreen, tending to gardens and practicing my Eisei." Another frown, more warped images played out in multicolored glass. "I'm sorry for the deception. Even for a shinobi, I'm quite bad at it. It's not often I'm just... me, and not what I've been made to be."

Lohner stood confused for several moments, he was still unsure of where they were, but assumed it was somewhat of a chakra construct. Perhaps, as with Genjutsu, things were more intune with their owners here. When Rue downplayed the value of the cathedral, Lohner dismissed it, still held to his own belief on the matter. His mind rattled as he tried to figure out the shifting sands and her words, the chuckles of the Ichibi subtly unnerved the Uzumaki. He had already witnessed her tense and relinquish herself to the moment, he dared not press further than necessary, instead he warily listened to her words.
To soon be praised by the woman took him by surprise, and the elder twin's face echoed this as the lines drew back and his eyes widened. When she put her hands between them, Lohner backed away slightly and allowed her the space she felt she needed, though he hadn't attempted to close any more distance either.
"Shukaku, the single-tailed demon? You allowed him to be sealed inside of yourself, sacrificing your potential happiness and living in paranoia, to save a village full of other people. You are the very definition of a priestess, seeking salvation for others." He spoke in a metered tone, eyes now focused on the ball that comprised the demon as she continued to speak.
He felt let down, his own connection to nature awakened something that prevented her from hiding what she was, and he inadvertently hurt her through his awakening. Though as she spoke of being bad at her deception he riled, chains sparked to life around his being, and he turned to her for a moment.
"There was no deception, that is all that you are, a Priestess and Med-nin, giving succor to those in need across the world. That..." he pointed to Shukaku's eye, without so much as a gaze to him, "that is the demon, that is what makes you anything else, but first, you are yourself before you are a jinchuriiki." Undaunted, on the surface, Lohner faced the situation and spoke clearly, as clearly as a young man could in this uncertain situation.
"And you, Trash Panda, you've got power in spades apparently? Why are you not aiming to keep your host happy, has the raccoon gotten his big balls caught and focused on them instead of the world outside of his host? He taunted as he put himself between the pair of them.
After the long trip from the remains of Uzushiogakure to here, Takezo was tired but he knew the hardships weren't over yet. He had watched his brother walk over with the pretty shrine maiden, but didn't really think much of it. First and foremost, he needed to get stronger, so he went to go find someone to help him train. After a very long training montage, the Genin now felt prepared and ready to actually go out and do things.

tabStarting to feel the enchantment fade Lahlil used her own chakra to extend it's effects. Was it cheating to use a jutsu to make oneself a better leader? It helped either way and it's not like it was technically her jutsu to begin with. It's not like anyone could notice anyway. Biting her lip in annoyance there seemed to be only a few souls who were brave enough to report for her so far. Although that probably wasn't fair, everyone needed their own time to work things out, it's just that she also needed to make sure they had a safe place to work those things out in.
Summoning a few shadow clones to both help give direction and comfort to those in need, the real Lahlil set off to set up those in front of her into teams. "Kotori and Rowena! Would both of you be so kind as to look for Masato? He ran off before I had a chance to talk with him and his efforts are sorely needed here. Last I saw he was headed in the direction of the southern forests. You're orders are to simply find him and bring back any intel on the area understood? Your lives mean the most to me." Lahlil looked over to Shouri who had dutifully reported in already and gave a faint smile. "And you will be coming along with me to reclaim the western forests and..." Trialing off mid sentence Lahlil squinted to make out the shapes of a man and his.. tiger? flashes of imagery through her mind suggested that he was meant to accompany her based on the goddesses wishes but just how far was she really going to take that? She had lead them here thus far and seemed to mean no harm and yet a part of her desired so strongly to refuse.
Waving for Shouri to follow her Lahlil walked close enough to be within earshot of the man. "And you're coming with us. Come, we're headed to reclaim the western forests." With that said the woman turned and started heading off without giving the man much of a chance to argue. Even despite her current emotions she knew that she was going to feel the sting of embarrassment for that one later. Hopefully whoever he was choose to listen to her words because she'd hate to have to force him, either way she was determined to understand all she could about this 'goddess' before the end of the day. Even if that meant playing along of now.

Rowena felt a surge of warmth run through her body as she gained a conscious appreciation for Lahil's efforts. She nodded dutifully at the order, turning to Kotori with a serious expression. "Are you ready to begin searching for this Masato?" It was evident in her tone that she was unfamiliar with the person in question - in fact, she was generally a giant recluse and knew few of the villagers besides vague academy connections.
"I hope you've seen him before. I must admit that I have been rather out of touch with politics and the village in general." Her voice was mostly void of inflection, though her expression was clearly bothered. She didn't necessarily feel responsible for all the bad things happening of late but she certainly knew she didn't help at all. Guilt didn't haunt her, but perhaps a smaller acknowledgement of failure in duty was there in the tenseness of her shoulders.

Byakko stopped in his tracks as he approached the castle. His head pounded something heavy as images of a blond young lady formed in his mind. ‘Damned goddess’. He thought frustrated as he and his tiger performed mental tricks to make their head pound less. Both man and beast realized that this woman had to be the leader of whom the goddess wished for them to work with. Furthermore, since they were more in tune with the will of God’s, from just the mental image the Tiger was able to pick up a scent. His body turned in the direction the leader would be. “Remember that we’re supposed to play nice. Happy faces on.” He said to the animal, who only snarled in response. Both Byakko and Byakko moved in impressive ninja fashion as they landed in front of Lalhil. Their Oracle ability detected the usage of a genjutsu. “Praise be to Nature, Sister.” He said as he kneeled with his head lowered in respect. If Lalhil had any knowledge of Evergreen then she would recognize that as a common greeting between people of the faith. “The Wise and All Loving Mother has brought us to you. Are you she who is destined to bring glory in her name?” He said in an authentic way only a liar could make sound honest. The tiger had no interest in formalities as he growled at the woman and the lessers she had with her. Kazuto sighed internally since the cat was doing nothing to make themselves more appealing,
__ Shouri followed after Lahlil toward the western forest and only stopped briefly to meet Byakko and his pet tiger. It did not seem particularly friendly so Shouri kept his distance from it and could not help but want to keep an eye on it. Byakko seemed friendly enough but he spoke briefly of concepts that Shouri did not understand. Who was the All-Loving Mother and why was he praising nature? Lahlil was acting strangely as well but Shouri would not chalk that up to divine visions and instead to the stress of leadership. He tilted his head up to admire the Sun's rays piercing through the branches and leaves. It reminded him of childhood and of his family which was currently missing. He felt a strong emotional pang at this moment that he immediately suppressed. Shouri needed to focus on being useful to Lahlil because he felt certain that she knew what the right thing to do was. He looked at her and knew that she was contributing to lengthening the duration of his genjutsu. He only casted it on her to reprieve her exhaustion and allow her to lead people to this stone castle but she felt that she needed the boost in confidence for longer. Shouri walked closer to her and put his lips close to her ear. "You're strong enough without it." He whispered quietly with a friendly smile and a knowing glance. Shouri needed to encourage his leader and new friend if they were ever going to solve this situation. He was also likely to break down any minute himself. This forest was dark and filled with uncertainties. Mentally, he was doubtful that he could handle it all for long but physically he would prove useful to Lahlil based on his extensive shinobi training.

Sonyo stared at Lohner's back, at a complete loss for words. He was.. standing up for her? Her confusion was clear on her face, both eyebrows raised and knitted together, lips slightly agape. It was true she had sacrificed her happiness, but wouldn't anyone to save their village? She had always considered herself a coward, considered herself weak-- how could she not when she was surrounded by people with immesurable strength like Kya? Like Chie? Like Ayame? Like Theo? She couldn't even come close to them, not in her mind. The visages of the people she was thinking about flashed in the windows around them.
Shukaku stuttered, caught off guard by this tiny many spewing words too big for his breeches. Slowly the sand split, cracking like an egg to show a smaller version of Shukaku lazily sitting inside. "And who are you to tell me anything, little boy!" Diamond eyes glowered at Lohner from behind the fuin-chains, what could only be described as a scowl on his face. "Coming in here, insulting me-- we've come a long way you know, I aught'a-"
"Shu, enough!" The Tanuki stopped, and Sonyo hesitated before gently reaching out and placing a hand on Lohner's shoulder. Her touch was cold, but not in an unpleasant way-- like slipping in to a cold pool on a scorching hot day. "I... thank you." The jinchuriki bit her lip, trying to force down that ever familiar lump in her throat. She was getting overly emotional... god she hated this place. "For someone who had only known me a few short moments, your words are kind... I'm used to being shunned, being outcasted.... Thank you." She repeated, her hand gently sliding off his shoulder and down a short distance of his arm before the contact ended.

She beat the top of her right fist over her heart and bragged, "Kotori watch Masato-sama smash one of those meteors with a simple flick! He's amazing!!" She clapped once and pointed to each eye with a righteously extended index finger. "I'll find him faster than the flash on some yellow!" Her hands came together to form a ram hand seal. With a moment of focusing chakra, Kotori exclaimed, "Byakugan!" Veins protruded from the sides of her face as she directed her attention to the southern forest as they'd been tipped off by the newest leader lady. "I see 'em!" Kotori cheered with a jumping fist pump then took the lead. "C'mon, let's gooooo!!" Searching for things and gathering information about an area was probably gonna be easy peasy with these eyes, but she was far more interested in trying again to earn Masato's favor however she could.
