Chellemana // Candidate / Apprentice Winemaker

A bronze. What girl could hope for a bronze? Well, Chellemana wasn't just a girl. Suddenly they wondered if this or any other bronze could handle someone like Chelle.

- - -

Nashanna // Candidate / Apprentice Glassmaker

Each egg that hatched brought a smile to Nashanna's face. She was so jumbled with "happy thoughts," that she could barely contain the expression. She had a smile for the green. The bronze too. He was interesting, rather pale. Nassah tried to guess who might come next. How about a brown? There aren't any yet. Or perhaps a green?

- - -

Rothgar // Candidate / Apprentice Beastcrafter

Rothgar noted that the newly hatched green was waiting. Waiting for what? He amended that thought to "Who," when she turned back toward the eggs around her. Her mother. She was waiting for her mother? That didn't make sense. She must be waiting for her siblings. Then a bronze emerged from the Blue Gradient egg. Were they going to wait for more siblings, then rush the candidates all at once? Could be fun!

- - -

Maddeck // Standidate / Apprentice Healer

The young healer watched the hatchlings emerge with detached interest. After the green proved not to be looking at the Stands but rather at her brother, he settled himself into simply waiting. The bronze was an interesting shade though.

Magenta Speckle Green hovered, looking hopefully at her two emerged siblings. Gradient Blue Bronze gave her a gentle tap with his muzzle. Unfortunately for the candidates, he didn’t seem much interested in them either. Gradient Blue Bronze had a mind of his own as he left the circle of eggs and moved instead not toward the candidates but along the edges of the Sands. Occasionally, he would stop and dig.

Magenta Speckle Green gave a happy peep at the greeting, but a sad croon as her brother left her. She went to sit beside Leather Orange Blue, but he seemed rather intent on what he was thinking about and ignored her. She sighed. Maybe she’d have better luck with her next sibling?

More eggs were getting violent in their shaking. Shadow Egg was putting forth a good effort as was Teal Stripe Egg. While people were watching the other eggs, Dark Purple Egg had made a crack ring the top of the egg. With a headbutt it broke free. A green head with a dark stripe down her muzzle lifted up from the opening.

Fisher / Candidate

Oh, more dragons. A green and a bronze, and Fisher regarded both of them before shrugging mentally. Bronzes, if she could recall the lessons, had absolutely zero interest in girls and therefore she didn't need to give a lot of stress or thought into it. The green got a passing "howdy" in as much as the blue did, but that was it.

Thoughts that weren't aggressive but weren't exactly super loving either filled her head as she shifted from foot to foot, using the top of her sandal to itch the back of her leg. There was a weird feeling of anticipation, but for what?

Was she supposed to be holding her breath?
PostPosted: Fri Apr 26, 2019 5:00 pm

Aessa shifted her weight from one foot to the other as she watched, smiling at the dragons coming out. Each seemed to want to do their own thing, excepting that little green from the brighter purple egg. Aessa let a thought pass through her mind, careful not to push the dragonet as she, herself would rather be hidden than front and center. Ah well, the things rider-wannabes do to impress, right?

~Worry not, friend. The others will come in their time.~

Candidate Farellen

Farellen twitched, he'd forgotten to change into the thicker sandals provided for the Hatching Sands in his hurry to get dressed and head down,... the eggs were hatching, this was the moment he was waiting for, he had missed out on the last clutch, but he was desperate for this one, curious too due to the strangeness of the babies last time. He stood with the other candidates and shifted from one foot to the other as the heat went through his thin sandals but nothing could dampen his excitement when the eggs started to hatch, first a blue, then a green, then oh wow a Bronze! this WAS exciting, if a green could clutch a BRONZE.... could she clutch a GOLD? .. all the speculation ran through his mind, he struggled to hold down any one long thought as his eyes flitted from egg to egg, wondering what was next, which dragon could be his....

~~~~~~~
Sneaky Serfie
Serfie had been watching, waiting, dressed as a drudge she had moved unnoticed into the candidate area where others were hurrying and changing into the white robes, she managed to take a robe off a peg, it was a little too long but it would do if she tied it a bit up in the middle with the rope sash, then, pulling her hair down into her face, she walked out onto the sands with the other candidates, avoiding the watching eyes of those in charge, kept her head down and waited as one egg, then another egg and another hatched. She watched that shadowy egg though, silently pleading with it to not give her away.
Magenta Speckle Green waddled over to her fellow sister and made a soft peeping noise. Dark Purple Green shook her head to toss off the eggshell cap she wore. Despite how silly she must have looked, her expression never changed. She cheeped back at her sister and struggled to release herself from the rest of her shell. She wanted out to greet her sister!
Gradient Blue Bronze meanwhile had been very busy digging holes in the sands; almost as though he was searching for something. With a cry of delight he pounced on something wiggling in the sands. Was he eating it? But no, when Gradient Blue Bronze raised his head he carried a trundle bug trapped alive carefully in his teeth.
He arched his neck and pranced toward the candidates, carefully showing them his prize. He stopped by Fisher and Aessa to give them a particularly good look before moving on. Finally he came to a standstill in front of one boy, his eyes swirling rainbows. NekokaMine! Can you tell your Swouth what this is?! I want to find all the little life forms!
V' snorted and waved off M'li's protest with; "You can take it," which was a compliment as far as she was concerned. "And I dunno, that's up to the high and mighty right? Not like we get a say in it, I mean our dragons have babies but we're not Weyrwomen. Ha! Suddenly flights don't mean s**t. Funny, hu?"
As the next egg hatched into what looked very much like a bronze she scratched her jaw and looked over at D'lana - would the Weyrleader be watching him closely? Would she still put bronze dragons, like her own, at the top of the heap? The woman was impossible to read and that really pissed V' off but fek if she could do anything about it. For now.
Drumming her fingers on her knee V' slouched back and cast her eyes over the unhatched eggs, she knew some people were still nearly wetting themselves with lust for another gold but why the shaff did they need that? Why should they want that? Some shiny thing dropped in to apparently lead them because destiny? Arseholes to that!
Fisher / Candidate
Fisher had been more or less dozing in her own thoughts when she managed to look up in time to see the bronze come over, a trunblebug in his teeth. "Pretty impressive catch there." While the dragonet certainly wasn't hers there was no harm in praising the good work of another, right? Especially since everyone liked to be told 'good job' now and then.
She was proven right when the baby trotted off towards some young man (she assumed his rider? ) and she mentally shrugged. It was a nice interaction but certainly not overwhelming, and so she turned her attentions back to semi-focusing on the pair of greens. Having siblings must be weird.
Aessa smiled at the dragonets as they moved about. Her eyes flicked to each as they moved, and over to the bronze when he pounced the sands. She wondered how he could stand to have legs on his tongue, but figured it must be a dragon thing, and smiled weakly before he moved on. She glanced over for Fisher's compliment to the dragonet and waved as it left.
Considering the thing was still alive, she had to concede that it was, indeed, an impressive catch. Nekoka had one of his own, before long, too, and she smiled. She'd seen impression a couple times in her life, and it always amazed and amused.
Dark Purple Green struggled but it appeared her egg was resisting her efforts. How was she supposed to hatch properly if it didn’t let her go! She simply dug deeper and with a mighty effort shattered the rest of her shell. Now free the dark stripe starting at her muzzle clearly continued all the way down her back.
There. Now she could do what she needed to do. Dark Purple Green strolled forward to the candidates. She just knew this was where she was supposed to go.
Left all alone Magenta Speckle Green gave a sad peep. She didn’t want to be alone! This hatching just wasn’t exciting enough for Hers all by herself either. The little green crept over to the candidates. She brushed by Fisher, then peered at Aessa. No these weren’t right. Finally she same to a stop and sat down beside Demarnthra.
M’li chuckled softly. “Well we can’t have too many hands in the pot now can we? I’d imagine things would get a bit crazy if every clutching green was a weyrwoman. There’s just too many. Maybe they’ll find a way to do things differently now.” M’li wasn’t one who wanted power. As long as her dragon was happy and healthy, that was all that mattered. And now, her dragon’s hatchlings were happy and healthy.
Abrila hovered at the edge of the candidates, not really bringing any attention to herself. This was the first time she'd been allowed to attend a hatching and while she had been told what to expect and how to behave, actually being there was a different story. She found herself thinking that she wanted the baby dragons to approach her, while simultaneously feeling that she wanted them to stay away. They had sharp teeth and claws, after all! And Abrila was not a fan of pain.
She wasn't a huge fan of standing in one spot, either. She shifted from foot to foot, feeling the warmth of the sand.
"Oh, yeah," V's eyes narrowed and she twitched a sharp smile at M'li, "not too many hands for sure, I'm sure them two Weyrleaders we got by chance will steer us well with their great wisdom they were chosen for right?" They'd steer towards whatever suited them personally but that was pretty much the same as Weyrs had always been right? Only difference was that it wasn't the lead Gold getting to rule the roost, and so also basically getting to choose who ran the wings and such because his or her dragon's flights chose the Weyrleader.
And now there were just the Weyrleaders.
"Oh what a good time to be alive, that we're so blessed with visionaries," V' murmured under her breath.
The little made in her new, simple white dress, felt her breath and her heart catch in her throat. Despite seeiung hatchings before, she'd never been so close to an unimpressed hatchling, and it was... terrifying, and exhillerating, all at once! She felt her stomach turn, and wasn't sure what to do with herself for a few moments, before the idea to breathe finally returned her to her senses.
But... The green wasn't hers. She was destined somewhere else. Even so, she wished the green a speedy find of hers, so she could stop looking sad.
Farellen was disappointed to see the Bronze Impress, but the fact he impressed first was a good sign, and quickly with no drama had to be good.... right? .... he watched as another green finally emerged and wandered near other candidates. He was still hopeful of course, but such a small clutch that each dragonet impressing, was one less chance for him.
~~~~~~~~

Serfie was kind of surprised to see a bronze impress to a girl, but weyr politics weren't her forte, she turned her eyes off the shadow egg for a moment as another egg hatched all the way, before returning her gaze to the shadow egg, hoping that when it hatched, it would PLEAAAAAAASE stay silent... at least until she'd Impressed and no one could do anything about her being there as she was.

Dark Purple Green had places to go, a person to meet, and she wasn’t going to be late, for herself or them. She walked in and out of the candidates. Unfortunately, the green stumbled on sand churned up unevenly by nervous candidate feet. She went down with a cry, tail and legs failing.

Magenta Speckle Green cleaned in close and waited to be addressed by the woman before looking up at her with rainbow eyes. Thank you for talking to your Darath, DemarnthraMine. We need never be lonely again.

M’li eyed her friend and put a hand on her shoulder. “If these concern you then we can bring it up later and see if there is a way to address them. For now let’s enjoy the hatching, for why else are we here?” Already two had claimed their riders. She winced as one green did stumble and fall. “I’m glad the sand is soft.”
