Was that...?
It was... Wasn’t it? Laughter. Genuine, Loud laugher that rang out over the rooftop up until the moment Vivre forced his mouth closed, and even then it came out muffled.
And it was wonder, beautiful even, to Mali’s ears, and the rather solemn look he had before melted into that sweet smile that seemed only reserved for Vivre.
“It’s good to see you like this. Lighter. And I get that you need to be hard on me at times, but you can be soft too. I’m no worn-torn warrior of ol’ or anything like that. Break it down, we’re kids in a war that we certainly didn’t start, did we? So... Be like this, here, with me. Let’s have fun while we still can. And if something happens, then so be it. I very much enjoy being around you, and I want you to feel that with me too. Not just co-workers and allies, but friends, like we said before. Can we do that at least?”

"I'll admit. I'm really bad at it. I've been told I take things too literally and get upset too quickly. It's hard for me to relax most of the time. It's probably why I used to drink so much." It said as it squeezed Mali's hand a little.
"So maybe help teach me that a bit. I need training in that too."

”I wouldn’t recommend drinking for relaxing, atleast not excessively. Maybe a few shots for tispy reasons, that may be fun. We’ll have to plan for it sometime.” The thought of a semi-drunk Viv without the sad part was pretty entertaining. Maybe he was a fun drunk if he didn’t get too deep into the bottle.
“I’d be happy to teach you that. And perhaps enlist Lori’s help. I talk big, but truly, I’m not fun at all. My happiness comes from eating snacks on the couch and petting my cat. But of course, there’s the hunting, which could be fun, and perhaps experimenting with the mauvian tech, I hear they are always looking for Q&A...” As he listed things off, he slowly began to wiggle his fingers in Vivre’s grip, slowly petting his palm and the pad therein.
“And maybe it won’t be so bad remembering you’re still young, half human, and above all, you. It can come slow, it’s no rush, but why in the world would you want to force yourself to become battle torn at your age? Enjoy your youth, okay? Promise me that.”

"Ah, right." It didn't want to say it had particularly enjoyed drinking to excess. It made it feel lighter and less in its own head. It hadn't had a hard drink in months though.
"I hope she wouldn't take me to some club or anything like that. I don't recall if I was the type but I feel I'm not. I don't think I could keep up with her if she took me someplace like that. Not to mention I can't dance." It said.
"I think remembering me is hard when I can't remember half of it. But I can try. I can promise that much."

"We'll make sure that the whole club things isn't on her list of things to do. Those places always give me headaches... But I'm sure she knows of atleast some interesting spots to explore or get into trouble at." Looking for trouble, now that was a new thought.
After all, it was Mali who often pulled Nubi back by the collar of her shirt and kept her atleast somewhat within the good side of the law.
And sometimes, they thought too deeply on things, he and Vivre. This wasn't the time for such gloom, especially when Nubi was going to be back any moment now.
"Not remembering the past, Vivre. Remembering is the wrong word. How about relearning? If things are different now, that would work best. You learn how to be human in a way that makes sense to you."

It smiled at that. "Okay. Should I call you professor now then? Dr. Mali with a doctorate in calming down and relaxing."
Human. How often did Mali forget that it had to learn to be a monster too and that its human life before all this had lacked morality and humanity. That he had been a poor excuse of a human being before all this.
Maybe learning instead of relearning made more sense.

"... No. As nice as that sounds, I really do feel like I am the least qualified to be talking about relaxing." Mali laughed at the thought. HIM of all people learning to relax. Nubi would probably lose her mind if she even considered such a thing.
He was a worrywort, prim and proper outside of the Negaverse, and when it specifically came to the Negaverse, he couldn't care two shits about what they thought of him.
But if Vivre needed someone to guide him, maybe it would be easier to have someone who had trouble relaxing too.
"Bit by bit we'll figure it out, I'm sure. And maybe in that same thought, we'll get closer, and you'll perhaps better like the idea of exclusively saving your touch for me."

Even though Mali had ordered their food online, it still took a good while for things to be ready. She sat in a chair, where if the restaurant were busy, people would wait for their seats, and played a game on her phone. They had a steak order after all, and it took some time to get that right. She lost track of the time though, getting lost in her game and only occasionally wondering what Vitie and Mali were talking about while she left them alone. Hopefully he didn't say or do anything stupid to deserve another pair of broken glasses.
Their food was ready at last and she thanked the hostess as she pushed through the doors and back into the cool night. Not too many people were out on the streets, making it easy to sneak back into the ally, set down the food for a moment, and power back up. Surely, they would sense her presence now. She counted to ten in her head, giving them a moment to collect themselves in the event something was happening, before making her way back up to the roof, food in hand.
"Special delivery!" She cheered as she wandered over. At least they both looked like they were in a good mood. That meant Mali had done something right and she shot a quick thumbs up at her twin. It was rare to see a smile on either of their faces, so he had to be doing something right.
"I hope things didn't get too awkward without me. Sorry it took some time. I don't think they were quite prepared for a big take out order so late." She settled in next to Vitie this time and passed out the take out boxes.

Vit didn't say anything to Mali's prospects to have him exclusively. It was a bad desire for the other to want but there was no dissuading the other from his unwise choice in desires. Vit on the other hand couldn't mister that Roma tic interest. Romance, for as much as he could remember, had been bitter and it knew it was overly selfish and uncaring to the wants of the one who had most wanted him. There had been no better partner than Bismuthite that it was hard to consider another. Even now he felt the pangs of the complex cocktail of feelings that would flood it's system whenever it thought of him. Separated. Divorced by faked death. Betraying the other by abandonment. Crushing whatever feelings Wyatt had had for him. Ending it and announcing it didn't want to make it work in turn. That it could fight all the DMC but not for their marriage.
It was trash.
It could only allow itself the most primal desire of basic passion and animalistic satisfaction of which it had many. The animal monster and the young man we're both in agreement on that front and carnal activities were a lovely balm to an sore hesrt.
It wondered if it was making mistakes now by letting Mali keep hoping. Young and green to his wants, the senshi was trying to take hold of a slippery eel that didn't wish to be caught. How far down would he go, withstanding pressure and the abyss, in his pursuit ignoring so many willing fish?
Vitriol made a noncommital noise just as Nubi arrived.
Of the mentioned base desires it had, food was quickly becoming a favorite and most accessable one at the moment. The smells of their meals rose up around the twin as she settled beside him and it took immense pleasure in breathing deep. Already his active saliva glands kicked in and he drank it back several times. Taking the offered plastic contanier, it paused and used the tips of it's claws to crack it open and reveal the thick, bleeding steak resting inside.
It's tail picked up in pace as it opened it's own nega space pocket and retrieved silverware modified with a larger grip for it to hold onto. The ones provided we're too slender and flimsy and it didn't want to just grab the streak with its bare hands and bite into it. (It wanted to but it didn't want to seem like it didn't have some self control and manners.)
"We talked of nothing more or less awkward then usual. It can't be helped."
"Thank you both for the meal. I very much appreciate the gesture."

It wasn't much of a reply that Vivre gave, but to be honest, Mali wasn't expecting much of one. The hope he had for Viv, and his feelings being reciprocated, was certainly still slim, and that, he didn't mind.
They each had a role to play for one another. Right now it was simply friends, a motive to keep one's head low, and a need to be honest. How long it would last, only time would tell.
Once Nubi's ever-familiar signature popped up again, Mali released Vivre's hand, folding his own neatly in his lap once more before watching his sister hop onto the roof once again.
"Welcome back." Whatever smile he had been wearing before Nubi arrived remained as she handed him his box, those warm feelings refusing to let him return to his otherwise dour expression.
The food smelled absolutely delectable, and he was pleased at the quality when he opened the box. Perfect, just as he had expected.
"Oh, you know, Nubi. We are grown, young men, talking about our feelings, food, murder." It wasn't exactly a lie, though his tone was in jest. At this point, he didn't care at all if Nubi would tease him over the feelings she was much more aware of than he would like to admit.
"We were thinking that maybe one day you could maybe treat us to a proper day of relaxation. After all, we do look after you, don't we?"

The usual topics, she was fairly sure she knew what that meant. The important part was Mali had someone else to vent with, instead of always fighting with her about these things. She flipped open her own box and stuffed one ravioli into her mouth as they explained what they had talked about.
Was Mali joking? That was a rare treat and she let out a little chuckle. Her eyes beamed and the prospect of them all going out together. "Why bother, I never thought you'd let me treat you to a proper day of fun." Already she was trying to think about what they could do. They were a bit limited honestly. She knew what her twin didn't like and could somewhat assume what Vitie wouldn't enjoy.
"Hmmmm, I mean we could just chill with a movie. Or a board game. We should watch or play something we could make into a drinking game. We are drinking right? That's the best way to relax and be worry free for you know, at least a little while. If you're looking to literally relax, we could book a spa trip or something...." It was hard to think about anything serious they could do on the time limit they'd be following because of a glamour. Honestly, these days when she was feeling stressed, she liked to vent on patrols.
"Let me think about it, I'll come up with something good. Or, is there anything in particular you'd like?" She was asking Vit in particular, she knew what her brother enjoyed.

Vitriol had been eating his steak slowly and lost in thought when the others were starting to plan their next outing. Savoring the near raw meat, it perked up when asked and took a moment to swallow.
"I don't mind either choice. I don't know what I'd prefer the most.....but I do like a good drink."
It had been dry since it's corruption and he missed a stiff drink to muddle his thoughts and quiet it's mind. It had been a nice practice to drink himself stupid and sleeping at it's wonder before and while it knew it needed to not allow itself to go that far, the temptation was still there. Drinking had been a nice therapist and friend before to it and it missed it. It suspected Faustite might not approve if it made it a habit but after hours the general shouldn't mind.
"I trust your judgement, Nubi."

'Mali had already said before he wasn't a big fan of drinking... It muddled his mind far too much, and made him more honest than he ever wanted to be.
He would rant and touch and hold onto things with little filter, and it was for that reason he stayed at home to drink. Imagining himself going out to those parties that Lori went to always ended up with the thoughts of him being taken home by someone and being taken advantage of.
It was certainly one of the things on the very bottom of his fun list.
But perhaps it wouldn't be too bad if he was only with Lori and Vivre. She knew him well enough to know his limits, which were hit far earlier than her own, and he trusted Vivre enough to be seen in that awfully honest state.
Yes, perhaps this would all do very nicely.
"I think an actual spa treatment would be nice... And then we can go from there. I will trust your judgement this time, 'Nubi. You get one shot."

Who didn't like a good drink? Well, other than Mali. Though, they had plenty to drink and their house and she knew he'd have a glass or two of something form time to time. Her brother always preferred to have a clear mind, whereas she loved to muddle her's time and time again.
"I'll book us something fun at our usual place. I'll research some quick and relaxing spa treatments for us then." She was just now realizing it had actually been a while since they'd been to the spa. It used to be a routine for them, but since their fateful encounter with Cavansite, they had had less time for those sorts of things. Or should she say, she had found new stress relieving options? Hm, even Landry didn't quite know the extent to which she enjoyed prowling and stalking others at night.
Plus, maybe if she could get a few drinks into both Mali and Vit, they might actually talk about the feelings hanging in the air around them. Maybe there was room for them to come to a compromise. It was as good an opportunity as she was likely to get.
"Ah, this'll be so fun."

It istened as they worked on settling up plans that were beyond it to even begin to set up itself. It was nice to be in the company of people far more capabl of handling the intricate details of normal life. It felt miserable if Vive had to handle these things itself, always intimidated by such tasks.
Chewing on the steak, it felt blessed with having such caring and gracious friends. "If there is anything I can do to help." It said, just as an offer, though it knew there was little it could do.
It was nice to think of things it could do outside of work, training, and trying to find any work to occupy it's time back in the Negaverse.
