Atreyu watched with amused eyes as the young Shauri tried her paws at fishing, a chuckle coming from him at the failed attempt though he looked away to pretend he hadn't noticed. It was just as well, because he'd decided to put Plan B into effect. If things were a little too calm or not enough people were trying... well, he had another prize available for a lucky member of the Mto'Mkuu.
Turning and padding his way back to the shoreline, he dropped his fish off to the side before making his way towards the vendor he'd made these plans with. The stocky lion stood with an excited gleam in his eyes, which only brightened as the Kiongozi walked towards him. Before Atreyu had even made it all the way there, he began pulling the newly caught Kipenzi over to him.
Atreyu looked over the brightly colored gazelle and then nodded as he clear his throat, this time turning back to the crowd. He let out another roar to get their attention, and, once everyone was looking at him once more, he grinned.
"Let's make this a bit more interesting, shall we? You all know of the catfish that swim in our river." The locals would know of them well, as they were tricky to get a hold of at the best of times.
"The first to catch one and bring it here will get to keep this Kipenzi."

Zdenko was new to the area he arrived at the river where many lions were fishing and he decided to try his paw or claw as the case may be at fishing. He positioned himself and reached his claws into the water and pulled up a fish like it was second nature and he smiled rather surprised that he was so good at fishing since he had never tried it before. Normally he would take down a gazelle for his dinner rather than messing with water. Then again perhaps this river life was something to consider since he was a natural at it.

Well, that didn't take long at all. His tactic had worked to bring a few newer people in to fish, but he hadn't quite expected someone to walk up with a catfish quite so fast.
Atreyu laughed before nudging the gazelle closer to the foreign lion, "Well, stranger, it looks like you've won."
He shot a look back at the vendor who, meanwhile, had moved back to retrieve another Kipenzi from behind him. It was always best to come prepared, after all. Moving to address the crowd once more, Atreyu spoke up, "The game isn't over quite yet though. We've got one more Kipenzi up for grabs! Same game, same rules."

Catfish Rush #2!

Pleased she was willing to help him, or allow him to help her, made him happy and he gave a nod of his head. He was ready and got in a rather sturdy stance in the cool waters and watched as she struck out at a fish but it seemed to slip away from her, causing it to move towards him!
A little unsure of what to do he sunk low and moved his paws, claws outstretched, as he tried to grasp it and throw it towards the shore. Sure enough it worked and a rather large and ugly looking catfish was produced from the water and landed upon the shoreline.

Zdenko smiled at the other lion and at the gazelle buck who was now his or well, perhaps his friend and he smiled and then tilted his head, he would most likely set the gazelle free to live in this pride without him. Since Zdenko normally hunted gazelles and he got the feeling that they didn't eat gazelles in this place. Fish were great and all but he wasn't sure he was kool with giving up red meat. "Thank you." He said and nodded to the buck. Then he turned back to the river.
The gazelle looked at the lions and he frowned they were a strange bunch that was for sure he wasn't sure what was going on but he wasn't someone's dinner just yet.

Taking a seat not far away the Kipenzi kept to herself for the most part. Twitching her ears she watched as a rather large fish, or two rather large fish, soared through the air and landed upon the shores. It would seem that the rivers were bountiful with life this day, that meant good food. At least she herself quite enjoyed the taste of fish.
Curling her tail around her paws she stared at the waters and really wanted to just jump into them and feel the water rushing around her, but she resisted and stayed upon the shore.

As the fish flailed away from her, Aurra watched with a smirk as it instead shot off towards Moselle, and then... Success! The plan worked!
She was surprised when she realized exactly what had popped out of the water though, and with a raised eyebrow, stared down at the catfish that flopped about. Whoops, looks like they foiled Atreyu's back up plan.
With a laugh, Aurra shouldered Moselle, "Well, look at that," and then she glanced over at Atreyu, waiting for him to notice.

Which didn't take long at all. Atreyu liked to pride himself on always being aware of what Aurra was doing, even while he was busy hosting an event, and so of course he'd noticed when she started working with the familiar Ruby lion.
He just wasn't expecting them to immediately fish up a catfish.
With another laugh, the brown and green lion motioned for the wild dog to come forward, "Congrats, Moselle. Looks like you've won our game!"

Moving forward as was commanded by her she was produced towards her new 'master' and dipped her head but remained silent as she wasn't one for talking often and most truly thought her as mute.
Moselle looked over towards Aurra and beamed brightly at her, "Well, do we want to try for another fish?" He said with a hearty chuckle and turned as Atreyu announced he had won himself a Kipenzi. This would be his first and he was actually quite humbled by the fact it was a Wild Dog. "As it seems I have, thank you." Moving from the waters he approached the Kipenzi and looked her over quickly, she appeared in good health and really he didn't have anything for her at the moment.
"You may go back where you were if you wish, or you may try your paw at fishing if you like, it is a rather warm day and I'm sure the water will feel nice."
Looking at him she gave a small smile, just what she wanted and without waiting any further she moved into the cool waters, but stayed in the shallows, she wasn't as sturdy as these lions.
Turning back towards Aurra he returned to his spot. "Ready for round two?" He dipped his head into the water and swished it around, trying to herd some of the fish her way. In the process he managed to snag on in his jaws and tossed it from the waters towards the shore. "I guess it's a fish sorta day" laughing he couldn't believe his luck.

Done with fishing, the hybrid moved on to investigate what prizes she could get. She'd be happy with just about anything, of course, but it didn't hurt to look first! As it turned out, all it took was one look to realize exactly what she wanted. With a gasp, the cheeton's eyes sparkled as she eyed the colorful pelt cape that adorned one of the vendor's stalls, and, quickly rushing over to slap her fish on the counter, she immediately pointed at it.
It was lucky for her that she had just enough points for it too, and soon after the hybrid was toting around the pelt cape, looking all the world like she'd just won the lottery.
Hopping about as she was, she wasn't watching where she was going and with an "oomph", crashed into someone.

Aurra rumbled out a chuckle, before nodding and following suit. Turning back to the water, she decided to try climbing up onto a more rocky area, in the hopes of maybe catching something unawares.
Sure enough, the shadow of another fish came by, and she swiped out a paw, hooking the tiny creature in her claws. It wasn't... the biggest fish in the world - probably the smallest of all the fish caught today, she was willing to bet - but a fish was a fish. Shrugging, the lioness tossed it onto her pile.
"You're certainly more lucky than me." She snorted, "Clearly I'm not a fisher."

Zdenko felt like he was hit by a small bolder and he was thrown into the water, he reached out and he ended up digging his claws into another fish. He had the fish as he came up sputtering looking for the bolder that had knocked him into the river in the first place. He didn't see a bolder but he did see a small hybrid. "What the heck was that?" He asked looking up at the hybrid kicking his back legs to get to the shore with his catch of the day. He wasn't angry that he had been knocked into the water since it ended pretty well.
Giving her some words of reassurance at her fishing he hadn't been doing too good in the beginning and now that he'd gotten the hang of it he was doing fairly well?
Spotting a shadow beneath the surface he slapped a paw through the water and fished out another large fish and onto the bank it went, along with the other three he'd collected so far. If he kept this going they'd be eating fish for a few days.
"I see my streak is still going strong, shall we see how many more I might be able to get?" It was really just him trying to play the odds, he doubted he'd get another one next time.

The canine spotted another not far away, her crimson stripes making her stand out and she decided that her time in the water was now over. Wading through the shallow pools she bee lined for the other dog.
"I have to say, I'm quite relieved that a similar face is present." Uncertain of the females name she took a seat and looked back towards all the fishing lions.

"Oops." Ears pulled back in embarrassment, Meera rushed forward to try and help him back up, not that she really helped all that much. He was already mostly back to shore by the time she'd gotten there, and even then, she mostly just floundered beside him. Luckily for her, her newly acquired pelt remain untouched by water during all of this.
With a cheeky smile, the cheeton apologized, "Sorry about that! I didn't see you there." She tried (unsuccessfully) to brush some of the water out of his fur, "At least you caught another fish, right?" she said in an attempt to lighten the mood.

Aurra let out a snort at that, but it turned out that his words were correct. As she swiped another paw down into the water, she was rewarded by the body of a fish smacking against her paw and, thrusting it up into the air, she watched as finally, finally, a large, glimmering fish came flailing out.
Lunging forward, the lioness latched onto it with her teeth, preventing the fish from going any further, and then totted it back over to her little pile.
After dropping it with the rest, Aurra let out a huff, "I'm not sure how much more I'll go for, honestly."

Cleotha paused as she watched the green wild dog begin walking towards her. An odd one, she thought to herself, but it was good that she didn't seem too bothered at being the object of a game. It would mean that she would adapt well here.
With a thin smile, the female decided to humor her, "There should be a few more wild dogs roaming around deeper in the jungle, so you don't need to worry about that." She paused, considering the other for a moment, "But.... you're right. It is nice seeing another canine in the midst of all these cats."
Cleotha turned her gaze over to the water, "Was the water nice?"

Zdenko smiled at the young hybrid brightly and he held up the fish for her to see he had indeed caught a big one thanks to her. He climbed out of the water, no sign that he was angry at all because he wasn't. He was a free-spirited male and one little pretty hybrid wasn't going to spoil his mood, besides she had already said she hadn't meant to knock into him. Getting angry at her would make him a big jerk. "It's perfectly alright, you can knock into to me anytime you like." He said with a wink and smiled "I am Zdenko and you are?" Zdenko tossed the big fish to the shore and then he reached into the water and sunk his claws into two more fish. "You seem to be good luck." He said with a grin.

Atreyu watched as the festivities continued after the prizes were given out. After a good, long while of observing, a quick glance up at the sky showed that it was now well into the afternoon, and he smiled softly. Far be it from him to end things too early, but he was sure the vendors were starting to wrap things up with their stock.
Clearing his throat, the brown lion spoke up again, "Thank you, everyone, for participating! I hope you've all gotten something good to go home with, and to all the rogues that came as well - a hearty welcome and we hope to see you all again."
He gestured off towards the vendors before making his way over as well, stopping only to grab the little fish he'd gotten and then padding closer. There was really only one thing he could get with his fish, but that was alright. With the exchange done and the necklace in one paw, he turned back to the crowd.
"Make sure you turn in your fish before the vendors close up shop."
With that said, the Kiongozi began walking to the edged of the jungle. He would watch from the sidelines from here on out.
