"Spoken like a true scholar." Even though Zebulon was taking the high moral road, and making sure to lecture her about it, Lyonsite just grinned. "Well of course they wouldn't be in agreement." Lyonsite replied, "They'd be dead." That was a bit of an incredibly cheeky and insensitive reply on her part but...some things happened the way they did, and there wasn't anything to be done about it. The way of things.

"Somethings have to happen in order for progression to be made. I'm not telling you anything you don't already know, Teach. Things have to happen, even if those things are awful." She shook her head, hair flying this way and that. "From that time of peace brought by the Mongols came great advances in technology that we still use today. World wide---if fighting makes the world a better place, then does logic not dictate we should?"

The woman's easy going demeanor though suddenly changed at the question. Usually---usually Lia, Lyonsite, didn't experience panic but---well. Once again, the Negaverse bringing drastic changes and all that. The secret identity thing was paramount, and it had bothered her that she had stumbled upon someone she knew---someone who was astute and clever, and that in moment, it was a preservation instinct that grabbed a hold of the woman.

Just like her tanned hand suddenly grabbing a hold of the man's wrist in an iron grip.

"No." She said, her voice oddly detached in that moment. "You don't."

She then started to drain the man of his energy, as quickly as her power as a Lieutenant would allow, and she would not stop until he hit the table.

He was very obviously in visual disagreement that things just had to happen.

No, they didn't.

There was always a better way than mass murder.

And perhaps he would have opened his mouth to tell her so--and also to remind her of the great advances they likely didn't even know of due to them being burned away or destroyed via destruction of the peoples who made them--but she suddenly grabbed his wrist and it was a vice grip of a type he had never felt before. He wasn't exactly weak himself; being a former boy scout had left him fairly muscled, and he wasn't exactly disinclined towards the outdoors now.

But her grip was impossible.

All of the jocular nature of her tone was gone, and Zebulon had a feeling he hit a sore spot, and he let out a mocking, "What, scared someone might turn you in?" but on the inside, he was trying to assess his environment and figure out how the hell to get out of this massive vice grip. There was a knife nearby. Maybe if he thrust it hard enough--

Why was everything getting so foggy?

He had just drunk some tea--

Was it her grip on him?

Zebulon looked to her, eyes slit due to sudden exhaustion, as it felt like his world was spinning. He was familiar with the sensation, though definitely not to this sudden onset level. It wasn't the first time he had come close to passing out due to exhaustion. Dissertations were hard.

He knew he didn't have the ability to reach the knife. He couldn't reach anything.

He couldn't lift his arm.

In desperation, he expended his mental strength to draw all the attention he could with a shrieked, "Get off me!" and the last of his physical strength by bracing himself against the back of the booth to yank.

Before his body slumped.

He hardly struggled, but even if he had, it would have been no use. Lyonsite just watched him as she drained him, every nerve on edge, and knew she wouldn't be satisfied until she had quieted him the only way she knew how. She didn't flinch at the shriek, and when the man's body slumped, she immediately let go of him like he burned her. In her free hand was a hearty dose of energy, but it wasn't what was important right now.

Lyonsite's tall frame immediately shot out of the booth, jostling the glassware on its surface with loud clatters.

Castaneda. But he liked to go by Zeb, which was short for Zebulon.

She remembered now.

A barista was coming to check up on the man, concerned, and Lyonsite pushed past her on her way out of the cafe.

She hadn't been this spooked by something in a long time.
