The worry drained away as he complimented her. When she realized that he was not only not angry…but praising her too, Kibirev felt herself begin to smile. “Oh…well…I’m glad that you think so…I…I guess I got a little cocky or something…I don’t know…”
She shuffled her feet and shook her head seeming almost tired. “Can we be done for tonight? I feel really bad…maybe…we could go and get something to eat? It might just be that mirrorspace is starting to trip me out a little. Bad memories, you know…but…I’d like to stay and talk with you a little bit…as um. As civilians. I have a lot that I’d like to talk to you about. But…if you don’t want to, I completely understand.”
Kibirev had just punched him after all…and who would want to spend any time with anyone after getting slugged in the face?
“If you have pictures of your kids, I’d love to see those too, and offer my services for babysitting. I need a job anyway.

He looked at her for a moment and then smiled. "No, actually. That sounds good to me. I was thinking about grabbing a bite before I ran into you in here. Come on," he gestured towards a mirror. "I'll take us through, there's a burger place I love. We can power down outside. I always figured Mirrorspace would eat me up if I powered down in here. Call it paranoia, but." He shrugged and held out his hand.
"Come on. I've got a million pictures on my phone. You'll regret asking to see them," he laughed.
He wasn't tense, wasn't worried.
Nobody was perfect, but hell--if Kibirev could dish out a punch like that, maybe there was hope for this Court after all.
