He slipped on a pair of socks and a pair of tennis shoes before snagging their overnight bag. He tucked the small bag with their toiletries in it into one of the pockets before swinging it over his shoulder.

"I think we could use a blanket just in case, one that isn't the one we have to sit on but I can grab that." He stopped in the hall to get into the linen closet, pulling out one of the throw blankets they had and tucking it under an arm before following Arin.

"Keys are by the door then I think we're good to go."

He didn't mention that blankets were one of the things he'd brought up during one of his previous visits -- pillows as well. Luc would get to see all of that soon enough. All of the preparation and the attention to detail, everything that he had put into making a perfectly special day away from everything for the man who'd given him a new lease on life.

He snagged the keys on his way out with the cooler, locking up behind Luc before handing the keys off to his lover so that he could tuck them away in the overnight bag. A quick check of the hallway signaled an all clear before they were off to the roof with no trace of anyone who might spot them or wonder why they were heading up but wouldn't be coming back.

Once they were out on the roof Lucien looked around, a slight shiver going up his spine with the chill in the air. It had gotten a bit warmer but not enough that the sky didn't look like it could still threaten snow.

"I am going to be very happy to get out of this weather for a bit." He shook his head before setting the bag and blanket down. He couldn't power up with them in hand and they'd both have to do that to get where they were going.

When Arin set down the cooler they nodded and both powered up quickly. Once he was his other self he checked for the feeling of anyone else in the are on instinct. The coast was clear and he picked up the bag and blanket again before lacing his fingers with his lovers.

"Lets go before someone tries to get in the way."

He drew Arsinoe's hand up to his lips, brushing a kiss to the other man's gloved knuckles. He'd thought that their powered lives would complicate things, more so that it was something they both handled in different ways. They each had their own method of approach, their own goals, and yet... Evenings like this, moments like this, brought them together closer than just sharing a standard 'date night' otherwise.

Mag Mell reached down to scoop up the cooler, closing his eyes to focus on his signet ring to draw on his connection to his Wonder to transport the two of them there. The cool, crisp air of morning was replaced by a warm, gentle sea breeze as the sandy ground shifted beneath their feet. One day he'd figure out the best way for them to wind up exactly where he wanted, as opposed to wherever the island wanted them to 'wash up', but...

"Let's go drop everything off and then we can see about enjoying our day."

With the smell of salt and clean air in his lungs he smiled, nodding to Arin. "In the little hut we usually stay in?" Arin had cleaned up one of the buildings on the small island and made it a rather nice little home after he'd seen the 'camp' Lucien had made on Arsinoe. It was simple and a bit drafty but with the perfect weather on the island that hadn't ever been a problem.

Despite not usually liking the beach Lucien was starting to like being on Mag Mell. It felt like home in a way he wouldn't have expected anything but his own home world to feel. The island felt safe the say way Arin.

"Actually, there's something else I wanted to show you this time." He was hoping they would arrive somewhere closer to the area he'd spent time setting up for this trip, but that would have been too easy (and likely would have required spending more time focusing on anything other than his partner). It didn't seem like they were too far from their destination, however. Actually....

There was a path just ahead of them, one that wound through the greenery wrapped around the base of the rocks that rose up from the center of the island forming the caverns and passageways of Mag Mell. In his heart he knew this path, had followed it a dozen times before in another lifetime. "This way."

He pulled off his shoes, knowing they were no good for walking around the sand and rocks of Mag Mell, holding them in one hand as he followed after his lover. The path that they were heading down wasn't one they'd taken before but it seemed familiar anyway. It was a strange feeling it was starting to get used to more now that he and Arin were starting to explore their lives together in the past more often.

"I get the feeling that the last time we did this it involved sneaking."

"Knowing the two of us? We were probably trying to avoid pomp and circumstance." Or sneaking off so the Mag Mell that had been could show the Arsinoe that was before something spectacular, just as he hoped to do now. Or any other number of things, really. He always had the feeling that then, just like now, there wasn't anything that could stop the two of them.

He shifted the cooler from one hand to the other as they followed the path, taking in the moments he spent chasing after deja vous along the way. He could follow familiarity and chase memory later -- as long as this path lead them where he was beginning to think it did.

He paused as they neared the rocks, a grin forming on his face as he reached out to brush vines away from the mouth of a passageway. At one point there'd been a door, of that he was almost entirely certain. He could make out the patterns in his memory, the symbols so familiar. This was his door, the way he'd followed home a dozen times before.

"We're heading up," he said with confidence, although there was no real way he could actually be certain of that. "Did you pack sneakers in the overnight bag? Shouldn't be slippery inside, but I don't know if your sandals will help much if itis."

"Knowing us we were probably trying to avoid anything." He laughed, shaking his head. When Arin paused and spoke again he held up his sandles, showing the other man where he had them tucked into a hand rather than on his feet.

"I think I am okay with barefoot for now. So far it's not like i've run into anything that would really hurt if i step on it." The rocks on Mag Mell were all smooth, the passage ways all well used and worn down so there wasn't a worry he was going to step on a sharp rock or the like as they made their way to their destination.

Where ever they were going wasn't the usual hut that they crashed in when on a trip to Mag Mell so he had to wonder what Arin had been up to.

He would have preferred to follow this path without a cooler in hand, but the Cosmos (haha) had seemed to have other thoughts in mind when spitting them out at the start of the trail. He had a feeling that in the past he might have sent Luc -- Arsinoe -- on ahead so that he could bring up the rear himself, but in this case he didn't know what lie before them in order to do anything other than want to take the lead himself.

Arin gave his eyes a moment to see if they would adjust to the lack of light in the stone walled passageway. He took a step forward, followed by another before tapping in to the magic to coat himself in a gently glowing layer of starshine; the aspect of Cosmos. The soft light was enough to give them something to go off of, at least until they reached a section of corridor with phosphorescent rocks adding a pale blue glow to light the way.

"Anything look familiar to you?"

"I thought you knew where you were going?" He paused beside his lover, setting his free hand on Arin's arm as he looked at the cavern they'd stopped in. Everything so far had seemed familiar in some way, a place he'd been many times before but now only just brushed against his memories like a vague idea. The soft blue glow though, that was something that resonated more, that seemed more familiar.

Letting his fingers drift off Arin's arm he walked ahead a few steps, looking around before a smile settled on his lips. Reaching out he ran his fingers over a bit of rock, the marks scratched into the stone a bit easier to feel than see. As his fingers ran across the mark he felt a strange tug at his magic before the wall in front of him flickered with a soft glow that reminded him of Mag Mell's magic and the solid stone disappeared revealing a set of smooth stone steps.

"You said we were going up, right?"

"I do know where we're going -- or, rather, I know where we're supposed to be going, where we should be going and..." He paused, looking to Luc with a bit of wide-eyed wonder as he felt what he could only assume as the essence of the island of Mag Mell responding and awakening to something in Arsinoe.

"Up.... Is where we should be going, yes. I found a place while I was exploring last with a view that's.... Well, you'll see when we get there." He leaned over, brushing a kiss to the other man's temple before striking off ahead of him once more.

The tug at his magic had been odd but not unpleasant. He shouldn't have been able to affect anything on Mag Mell but whatever it was that held that door shut had responded to him none the less. Shaking his head he followed Arin up the stairs turning his mind to what the other man had planned instead.

"You found somewhere new? I thought we'd done a pretty good job of exploring most of it already." The island wasn't that large and they had done quite a bit of looking around when they'd come up before.

But they hadn't found the path that Arin had lead them up before, or this new one they were on now. It did make him wonder what else the island was hiding.

"We had -- have, honestly. It's not so much somewhere new as..." It was hard to zero in and focus on conversation when he was following the guidance of Mag Mell itself. His voice drifted, distracted, as he paused on the stairs to switch the cooler from one hand to the other once more.

"There's an antechamber just off to the side of the main sanctuary. Do you remember that from the last time we were here? If I'm right, that's where we're headed." A back entrance. A private escape. It was a way in and out without being spotted so that the Knight of Mag Mell could simply be on days when the waves called and the salty air sang through the palm leaves.

"I've been where we're going before. It's where I found my signet ring, and that book I said we could bring to Arsinoe if we ever figure out a way to safely transport it from here to there." He couldn't read any of it, amazed as it was that the pages had survived intact throughout the years no matter what they said. "It's -- You'll see when we get there."

"I think so." He could remember the main sanctuary at least but wasn't sure he remembered any rooms off of it that they'd explored. He was sure they had to have but for now the memories seemed distant. The vague ghosts he was used to when he found something on Arsinoe that he'd know well before but didn't quite remember yet.

It made sense though. There would have to be somewhere at least partially private that Mag Mell could take guests that wasn't his own private quarters. If it was somewhere they had used before ... well having a way in or out wouldn't have been odd for them. He knew now how often they'd had to make their own plans to escape their lives before. Much the same as they did now some times just to be them.

Perhaps they'd done something like this before, taking the same passage, to sneak away from their responsibilities for a short time. A little bit of time where they could be each other's soft place to land before the weight of their roles was put back on their shoulders.
