Mat tilted her head as Ayira said she was evolution. What did that mean? It took a second to click: the goddess was Evolution. The goddess
of Evolution. She almost laughed again at the irony of the whole situation, although she wondered if they were evolving at all. The Firekin used to worship a goddess, after all. Was this regression? Perhaps that deity would be better suited in helping them.
Oh well. It wasn't as if Mat was going to be picky. All she wanted was for the sandstorm to end and if this goddess could do it, then she'd pay what she owed, whatever that turned out to be. Perhaps the Nergui hadn't been as crazy as they had originally thought, hunting gods for their power.
Then Ayira was off, once again turning into a hawk and disappearing.
"She's got wings...why would you want to be a
hawk?" she muttered quietly with an amused expression. Show off. She liked it. Although if she could fly without turning into a bird, Mat would soar through the sky with wings of her own. That seemed a little more impressive to the naked eye. To anyone else, she'd just be a hawk.
Or maybe that was the point.
"Well, if we need to send a group out to find them, we'd better start getting that underway," she said as she turned her attention back to the rest of the lions around her. "Provided they can find a way to slip out during a lull in the storm."
