Her response brought a small smile to his lips as well, a reaction he didn't quite expect. For a moment he sat there as he poked the edge of his lips to be sure they were doing what it felt like they were doing. They were.
Honestly, he wasn't all that hungry. If anything, the combination of the copious amounts of alcohol he'd forced into himself the night before and the stress from this morning had him feeling incredibly nauseated. He was one of those types; didn't get a headache from a hangover, but felt sick. But it'd seemed the best sort of next step (since he couldn't run away).
He braced his palm against his knee as he picked himself up. Well, guess it was time to go. As he turned to open the door, he caught a glance of himself in the mirrored surface before him; his hair was strangely tidied, given the circumstances, and there seemed to be little in the way of bags under his eyes.
How strange...
Reaching around with his hand, he slowly opened the door. His eyes didn't meet hers as he kind of awkwardly stood there, a bit of pink on his cheeks and the tips of his pointed ears, as the pure, awkward mess he'd always been. Timid, sheepish, perhaps a bit embarrassed, but at least he wasn't running away.

As the door slowly opened, she turned to look at the slightly pink sprite. He wasn't meeting her eyes, but considering everything she didnt blame him. And for some reason she always found his awkwardness a little endearing.
For his sake, she didnt overflow him with her usual forwardness. No hand grabbing. Honestly she was completely fine with a little bit of space between them after being so close all last night. Instead, she flashed a small smile of appreciation. "Alright, I dont think they'll mind if we leave the bed unmade." Aurelua spoke as she started walking towards the door. Her tail was just a smidgen higher than it was earlier, her ears a little more perked. Food always put her in a good mood. Her hand lighted onto the doorknob, twisted it and pushed it open to walk into the quiet hallway. "My parents always has us eat breakfast together. Which was nice but I was Always stuck cleaning dishes. Especially now that Remy is moving out. It'll be nice to not have to do dishes today at least." She probably should move out at some point too.

His eyes flicked up to look at her for a moment as she spoke before returning downwards, focused somewhere on her shins. Likewise, his eyes glanced over to the very disheveled bedsheets as he began to follow a little distance behind her and out the door.
Yeah, he figured that the staff probably had worse rooms they had to deal with than one with just some messy sheets. They were probably the tame ones if the night prior was any indication.
He brought his hand and claw behind his back as his eyes drifted in tune with her swishing, fluffy tail. He wasn't sure why he always seemed to drift to it, but it always made him feel at ease watching it. Maybe it was because his older siblings had similar features; maybe it made him feel a sense of security? Nah, he didn't feel like thinking that hard.
"...We always ate meals together in the Tree, and Alu Spring offers a communal meal as well for any who want. I usually just eat alone at home though... I don't like being around so many pae'il I don't know... It makes me nervous... And I really stick out everywhere... I'm too naiad-like for the tree but too land-like for the naiad..." His words drifted off as he realized he was just making things awkward again.

As they walked down the hallway together, she nodded thoughtfully to his own experience before quickly shaking her head. "Mmm. I see. I wouldnt let that stop you. If they have a problem with you, then that's their problem." Aurelia flicked her head back to look at the sprite, her features serious. "They should judge you not by your features but who you are. And who you are can be pretty cool. And if you stuck around, then they wouldnt be pae you wouldnt know, right?" The wolfish willwarin turned her gaze back forwards. Maybe it was easy for her to do or say. She was always exuding confidence. But the way she saw it, it was stupid to judge someone for something they couldnt control and those pae needed to look themselves in the mirror. Like she eventually did, realizing that she was one of those stupid pae. "I think there would be a lot of pae who would like tl be your friend." She added a bit softly as they rounded a corner and out into the main lobby. "Okay...breakfast...breakfast...where would I be if I were breakfast...."

That was easy enough for her to say, she'd always held her head up high since they'd met... Though she had been considerably brattier the first time.
As for being his friend if they got to know him... He wasn't sure that would happen either. He wasn't particularly interesting, particularly talented, particularly attractive. Especially not the last one. Just weird. Gloomy. Awkward. Socially inept and reserved. As far as he could tell, there wasn't really much that was likable about him at all. There wasn't anything he had a talent for, nor anything he was passionate enough about to put effort into becoming good at. If given a choice between him and someone else, of course he'd fall short.
That's why it perplexed him that she was insistent on sticking around. She'd said before that it was to make up for being mean before... so did all of this amount to just something she was doing to feel better about herself? It'd make much more sense that she's pity him than want to actually spend time with him.
It was probably best that way though. Best for them both.
Now why did that hurt a bit when he thought about it like that...?
He lifted his eyes to look around as she stopped, offering his thoughts in a quiet voice. "Maybe where they had the food yesterday?"

The sprite very pointedly was not interested in following up her statement to rejoin the lunch table. Since she couldnt go to Alu springs or the Tree to 'encourage' him to go personally, it really was his choice. She could only hope he'd think about it.
She just didnt understand why he tried pushing everyone away so hard. Wasnt it lonely? Didnt it hurt? It made her sad thinking about it. He had moved from his family -brothers and parents if she recalled right. So lived alone in Alu Spring where he didnt mingle. If only he would show that fun side of him that she managed to catch glimmers of.
No matter, the morning was awkward enough without her pushing the issue. "Oh! Great idea!" Aurelia exclaimed while clapping her hands. Instantly she turned her trajectory towards the grand ballroom that had the buffet tables earlier, tail softly swishing in anticipation. "This place looks even bigger now than yesterday. Maybe because there's less pae here to fill it?" There were still a few cherubs about, mostly still cleaning or running off to some errand. But no where near the volume of bodies just a few hours earlier. "I don't know if I would like such a huge place myself. Feels kind of empty if you dont have enough to fill it." And she wasnt sure if she'd ever be able to amass the amount needed in her whole life.
Down the great hall to the large double doors.

Aurelia's vibrant approval of his idea caused the sprite to flinch ever so slightly before he had to scramble to keep up with her sudden return to walking. His eyes glanced around as she continued talking. She was right, the spacious halls which had almost seemed claustrophobically narrow the night prior now seemed to stretch on indefinitely. It was a bit eerie even. "They must all still be sleeping...?" He returned. They'd been pretty buzzed the night before, but compared to most at the party, they'd still been rather tame.
Sometimes he swore the cherubs drugged the drinks or something. Sure, he wasn't a heavy drinker with a particularly high tolerance, but even he should have been able to do a bit better than he usually did at these things.
The sprite nodded mostly to himself as he agreed with her thought. "Yeah... It would be a bit much." Having so much space would just make him anxious.
A smaller, more intimate accommodations suited his personality better.
As they approached the doors, he tried so sniff the air to see if he could catch the smell of anything, but his nose was kinda stuffy for some reason. Maybe that emotional bit earlier? Either way, that wasn't gonna work.
"So... He paused awkwardly as his voice trailed off and his eyes looked around. "...do we just go in?"

"Hmmm... Or, they're at the breakfast that we're looking for." She offered additionally, her eyes scanning the emptiness around them as if she'd spot a cart of food randomly appear.
As they stopped in front of the doors, she paused briefly. It was a little strange to just go barging into a room that was closed. But also they had just walked all this way, and it would be silly to just leave without checking. And her head really hurt, she needed to get some water. "Of course. We're guests after all." The wolf pae spoke confidently for both him and herself, pushing herself into action. She reached out and pushed open the door for both of them to walk through.
Just like last night, there was a line of tables awaiting. And to much of her delight, they had FOOD! Muffins and waffles and sausage and was her tail swishing excitedly? She instantly stopped moving the inconvenient appendage. "You were right Wellspring, good thinking." Aurelia praised before moving towards the table with plates, all awkwardness of earlier fading away from memory as she gazed upon the mountains of food. And thankfully, she spotted a large container of water beside some juices at the end table. Her prayers had been answered.Daisicle quickest way to a pups heart is through her stomach xd

That was just like her to walk right in without losing a beat. Thanks to that, Wellspring know knew they'd been on the mark.
He failed to hide a wry smile as he noticed how excited she seemed to be and, without missing a beat, turning his eyes off her rear and onto the tables before them. It was by no means a less extravagant presentation than the feast the night before had been. Such a variety... There even appeared to be some items that the cherubs would prepare to-order available. Oh! He hadn't seen some of these items in ages! Wait. Why was there even more alcohol on that table over there?! Mimosas? Bloody Mary's? Irish coffee? Who in their right mind would want to drink after a night of drinking?! At least there seemed to be some just plain juice as well...
Hopefully is was just plain juice...
For how unappetizing the sound of food had seemed minutes prior, now that he was here, his stomach audibly growled. Oh Laisidhiel this was embarrassing. With a gland over to Aurelia, he made a motion towards one of the cherubs surrounded by an outrageous number and variety of eggs as he spoke. "I'm going to go get some food. See... ya later...?"

Her mind was filled with all the food combinations she could put on her plate, Wellsprings voice snapped her back to reality. She froze, blinked, and looked back over at him.
Later? Did he not mean to eat with her? Maybe he wanted to just grab food amd run. She felt a little panic, and a little sadness at the thought. Of course he would try to flee, maybe that had a little too much of each other and needed some time to breathe. Time to think. But would she really see him later? Her mind began to race even as her stomach growled. Her thoughts had put aside the food but her body hadnt.
Think of something. Think of something quickly. "Promise?" She couldnt keep the bit of hope from her voice. She didnt know what exactly she wanted. But she knew she had to see him again.

Surprising as it may had been, Wellspring had not actively considered this as a chance to 'escape' per say, but rather had been awkwardly trying to head out so that he could get food. He figured they ate pretty different things and didn't see the need to stick around at this point.
So it was strange for him to feel a bit taken aback by her question.
He didn't really understand from where it'd come, and that made him feel uncomfortable. Had he done something again? But he didn't think he'd done anything at this point.... Was she messing with him? Maybe he was just overthinking things. He did that sometimes. A lot of the time. There was just a sprinkle of confusion in his voice as he responded with a simple, "Sure...? I promise I'll see you later?" Before offering a wave and walking off towards the 'egg cherub' that'd caught his eye.
A few minutes later, the sprite was looking for a place to sit, his claw balancing a plate with lightly fried duck eggs over a pile of micro greens on thick slice of toast. It seemed some kind of oil had been drizzled over it, along with some salt and pepper. There was a small pile of cottage cheese next to it with some preserved peaches perched against it. In his hand he held a glass of juice; he wasn't sure the kind. Something orange and opaque. Upon noticing a small table near the side, he moved to sit down and eat.

Well. That sounded unsure. She flashed a small smile and waved back as he walked away.
Stupidstupidstupid. He was going to bolt now. Only...he didn't. He walked over to a food table, and ordered himself some eggs. Slowly she let out the breath she didn't know she was holding, and walked towards the more meat centric table. It all smelled divine. Soon she had her own plate, piled high with various meats and fruits. And to her continued surprise, she found Wellspring still there. Sitting at a table. After fixing herself a glass of water - chugging it and getting a second - she made her way over to him to sit across from the sprite.
"So..." She thoughtfully plopped a blueberry into her mouth. She couldn't be vague now. It was time to do what she did best, and be direct. "I think for our next date come Venus day, we try to avoid alcohol." She said it offhandedly, of course their next date. But out of the corner of her eye as she snacked on a piece of sausage, she watched for his reaction. "Agreed? I didn't think I had much, but last night is...a bit of a blur."

Now came the hard part... With his claw ever-so-carefully holding onto the end of a knife, he set about awkwardly trying to cut and eat the fancy toast he'd been given. How long had it been at this point and he still wasn't good at using this thing? Too long. Maybe he should give up and just use his hand to pick it up?
He offered Aurelia a single nod of acknowledgment as she sat down next to him.
See, even he could be mature. He wasn't really sure why she'd want to go out of her way to sit by him when there were so many open tables, but he'd also no intention of verbalizing this confusion. Instead he reached to take a drink of his juice, his original fight against the toast postponed for now.
Oh, it looked like it was man--
At the mention of a 'next date,' Wellspring proceeded to inhale the contents of his drink and then go into a very loud and dramatic coughing fit.
DID SHE JUST SAY NEXT DATE?
WHAT? WHAT? . . . WHAT?
His eyes were watering as he tried to calm his lungs and he looked up at her, clearly confused. His voice was shaky and had softened a bit as he responded. "N-next date...?"

It took every bit of her composure to not flinch as Wellsprings throat suddenly stopped working, throwing the poor sprite into a coughing fit. Instead, she continued with driving forward. Confidence. She popped another blueberry into her mouth to allow him to catch a breath first. "Well, yes. Given the events of last night, obviously we need a do-over. A proper date, with no alcohol." She folded her hands and faced him squarely, amethyst eyes serious. "It's only right. So, I'll see you here next year for our next date?"

She said it like it was the most natural thing in the world. Like of course they were going to both come here again next year, so of course they could make a date of it. Frankly, he'd planned on this being his last. Nothing good seemed to come of these things.
And then she was leaning over and super close; he didn't have the time to process what was even going on anymore.
His eyes were averted, unable to face her head-on as she did him.
"W-well... I wasn't actually really... you know... planning on coming next year..."
