There was once a small band of animals, one lioness, one cheetah, and one wild dog - the best of friends, bonded together by a tragedy that befell their three mates. The three males had once wronged a much larger pack of hyenas, and as a result the vicious hyenas hunted them down and slaughtered them. The three males were able to defend themselves enough to allow their mates to get away, but the males eventually all fell.
Not too many moons later, the pregnant lioness, cheetah, and wild dog each gave birth in turn, to a grand total of ten small babes. The three females were able to successfully care for their young for some time, but eventually the pack of hyena hunted them down. Cruel as they were, they couldn't bring themselves to target the children and decided to let them live - albeit abandoned, in the middle of the rouge lands.

a large hunt, involving all. greed and hunger got the best of the parents, where they started to not help each other hunt, but became the hunted themselves.
In a pit of scared earth where freshly fallen meteors hit, the group of youngsters were found all huddled together. They cried that their parents ran out of their den and were never seen again.
With the falling of the God's Haven, the numerous earthly disasters have caused countless casualties. Some unfortunately more lethal than others and in the wake of those casualties, they have left children orphaned and alone in the world. Including these poor children.
Living in a not too unusual clan where when the old master is dethroned, defeated and killed, their cubs are killed, these cubs were all smuggled out of their clan by their mother to stop them from being murdered by their new monarch. Of course when her defiance was noted their mother was killed for daring to choose her cubs over the new master.
In the midst of the God's Haven closing, bits of the earth opened up and swallowed whole sections of land, including anything standing upon it. Fortunately, the cubs remained safe, but not so much their parents who were lost to the Void

The families of the children once lived in harmony. However, when the War in the heavens happened, and the strange occurrences on land took place, the families began to rival one another for resources, ultimately destroying the adults in the process. The children, unaware of the rival of their parents for resources, banded together to not fall into despair as their parents had.
