Entry: what did you do for the holidays this year? any traditions to ring in the New Years?
My family likes to get their own gifts for themselves, online. That seems like a real disconnect but it actually isn't. We typically go on Amazon.com and discuss our favorites (or what we've narrowed it down to). We make the decision as a group and order only after then. As for dinner, we typically have a ham that we spend the next week eating. This year we had ham sandwiches on pretzel bread, which I highly recommend!
As for New Years, we have not gotten a tradition nailed down. Sometimes we do sparkling cider, sometimes champagne, sometimes nothing. Sometimes we stay up, sometimes we don't. I typically stay up until all the fireworks are done so I can sleep (or that is my excuse to myself to spend some extra time writing).


Here's something that is DIFFERENT!
Entry: I stopped doing art (regularly, and to a lesser degree writing) in 2013 and this is the first year I've made an effort to reverse that. And the reason for ending it was a death of a very important person in my immediate family. What makes me so different was that this important person was a dog but I loved him like a son. He saved me in numerous ways, and my family in one big important way, as I saved him years before. So his loss hit me to an extreme.

Shoemaker Levy 9 impacts with Jupiter. This was a huge impact, and not just literally, upon me. I was a just a little kid hearing about how if not for Jupiter we all would have died. To this day Jupiter is probably my favorite planet!
