Dangerous Lover

Gisela, bundled comically up in the layers and layers of winter wear, still shivered beside Eion in the cold. Her slight build made it difficult for her to keep warm and this was only worsened in the winter months. She huddled close to the monster by her side who was currently hiding in human skin. She wished that he didn't have to -- his perpetual heat would be a boon in the cold and the snow. Still, the minuscule heat that escaped natural human skin even in the coldest temperatures was better than nothing, and between him and the woman that she was still unfamiliar with, it kept Gisela's shivering at bay.

Laughter behind her caught Gisela's attention. She turned her pale blue eyes to the group of girls she recognized from school. She tried to hide in her layers but by the time she realized who she was looking at, it was too late. One girl raised a gloved hand to wave at her, but the arm was grabbed by the other two girls who whispered feverishly and shook their heads. Hushed words were exchanged and soon turned into laughter as the girls continued to glance at Gisela from where they were.

Anger boiled in Gisela's gut as they hurried away, casting glances back at her as they did so. It's not like they were the first to act like this, and they wouldn't be the last either. Gisela wasn't... well liked at school. Always dozing and then screaming herself awake. Angry at everything it seemed like. She kept to herself more often than not and made a habit of silently watching the people around her. It had earned her the label of "freak", "creep" and had made her a general persona non grata. Not that she minded.

Most of the time.

Times like these however, when girls banded together against her and all she had was a half youma with whom she bickered as much as she was loyal to him and a stranger she'd never before seen... she felt her loneliness like a knife through her ribs. It caused her to draw closer to Eion, searching for... for... something. Comforting arms, maybe. A consoling word, perhaps. Though more realistically, she was searching for someone not to push her away. He and Benitoite... they were all that she had. All that she had to go to for help and comfort.

"One can never have too many friends, you know," the woman in the cart offered sagely, "This tea will help you gain attention. I promise, dear, you'll never feel lonely again. It's a tragic feeling to have, especially around this time of the year."

Gisela drew back again, into her coats and scarves and layers, glowering out into the window of the cart at the presumptuous old woman.

"What do you know of my friends," Gisela demanded. The old woman only grinned and continued preparing her tea... the tea that Gisela did not ask for.

"A cure for something dear, my sweet," she cooed, holding out on wrinkled hand. And while Gisela didn't need nor want a cure... she would be lying if she said that she wasn't curious. And so she searched her pockets for something -- anything to give to the old woman in exchange for her offering. finally, her fingers closed around the two dollar bill in her pocket. It was something her father had given her a long time ago, saying with a wink "it'll bring you luck." Yeah. Fat lot of luck it had brought her. Still she had carried it around because her father had given it to her and he meant the world to her. And maybe she had always hoped that her luck might turn around with it in her pocket...

It never had.

So she handed it over with a small pang of guilt over bartering away a ticket from her father. The old woman took it from her and tossed it somewhere Gisela couldn't quite make out, and handed over her tea.

The first sip nearly curled her toes with how sickeningly sweet it was, but she kept drinking. The same way she kept carrying that damned bill around no matter how piss poor her luck was.

"I see that you desire wealth - a sensible aspiration, of course. Security comes with knowing that you'll never want for anything."

A jar is brought forward, jaundice colored nails scraping along the edge of the glass. "This tea will help you gain wealth beyond your imagination. Amusing, how such a small drink can produce so much in return. Sometimes good things come in small packages."

Question 1: What would you do with unlimited wealth?

Question 2: What do you value the most?

Question 3: What is the one thing you cannot live without?

Tea Effects
This tea has a rather becoming floral taste to it. As you return to your daily life, you soon find that everything that happens to you happens in some large magnitude. Instead of being given a piece of chocolate, you're given a box. Instead of waking up to finding one pimple on your face, you now have fifteen. One bill turns into five and no matter what you do, everything now happens plentifully -- whether you want it to or not.

It'd been a while since Delphine had gone out for anything relating to personal pleasure. Errands, duties, and dance were the primary facets of her days, and she'd been eager to let herself melt into an easy routine that kept her busy enough to prevent her mind from wondering too far from that tasks at hand. It'd been months since Ian had been murdered, there were still no answers as surrounding the death, and Delphine found nothing but pain and longing when she thought too heavily on the man.

So she did her best not to think of him. A task easier said than done, but she went to great lengths to avoid thoughts of him. It was getting harder though, as the holidays approached, and in the end that was probably what had propelled her to join Eion and a friend of his at the winter carnival. Which might have been a mistake, because as walked through the sculptures and fairy lights it was hard not to imagine what it might have been like to walk through it hand in hand with Ian.

Drawing in a heavy breath, Delphine forced a smile as she spotted Eion and another girl in the crowd, and she moved swiftly towards them and the tea stand they were standing near. Something warm to cradle in her hands would be lovely with the bite of the chill air.

It didn't seem like the woman running the cart was interested in money though, which caused Delphine pause. She glanced at Eion to see what he deiced, and wasn't really that surprised to see he'd rather trade an item than anything personal, but the dancer didn't think she had anything she was willing to exchange, which left...

"Alright then, ask your questions." Her tone was mildly exasperated, features stoic and boarding on impatience. It all seemed a little much just for tea.

The crone smiled at her, and the dancer frowned. "I see that you desire wealth - a sensible aspiration, of course. Security comes with knowing that you'll never want for anything."

"No, that's not quite-" She started to protect, but the old woman talked over her.

"What would you do with unlimited wealth?"

Delphine's frown grew more pronounced at both being interrupted and the nature of the question the woman was asking her. "I don't..." Another protest, but she sighed, folding her arms as she flicked a glance to Eion and Gisela before looking back at the crone. "Live comfortably, put the money towards building my career, donate to dance companies where funds are are needed." She had the money she needed, so this was all moot.

The old woman smiled again, apparently satisfied with the answer. "What do you value the most?"

This one caused the petite woman a great deal of pause, because she was not entirely sure how to answer that. "People," she answered finally. "The people in my life that I care about."

Nodding the old woman half turned to futzing with the tea on her cart. "What is the one thing you cannot live without?"

This one was at least easy. Relieved, Delphine answered without hesitation. "Dancing." She loved to dance, not just ballet, but hip-hop, free style. She loved moving to the music and how alive it made her feel. Riding was a closet second, but there was a reason she'd chosen dance above everything else.

"Alright then, here you are my dear. Careful, it's hot." The crone present Delphine with a steaming mug, and the petite woman accepted it with a polite smile and dip of her head. It still all seemed a bit much for tea, but at least the taste was pleasant, floral and light and the first careful slip seemed to warm her down to her toes.

Tat others spoke amongst themselves and drew Gisela's attention away intrigued em by eir own disconnect — how long had it been since Eion realized what a personal life might look like when one wasn't pretending? — but their mutters and giggles elicited a more familiar reaction in Gisela. Distantly ey remembered drawing close to eir mother as Elex, looking for some semblance of comfort and security. Some meager acknowledgement of value, even as a social accessory. In recent years, Eion witnessed that behavior in threatened youma who folded back into their herds. Ladybug-esque crystalline creatures with wings of glittering, woven glass whose gravity-defying turns reminded em of shoals. This was she, the bony waif who gradually tucked into eir side.

Eion's hand caught her opposite elbow as she tucked against em. It felt as sharp and delicate as her shoulders, as the needlestick points of every vertebra in her waifish body. Strange how threatened her human body felt outside senshi power. Did others feel this way? Did Delphine? Did Elex?

Stroud didn't. And it was with haste at her so chilling name that Eion seized the cup presented em, staunch in the face of warning.

The old woman interrupted. You're a lonely one the madam said. The callout wasn't missed, distant as it was now. I've seen your type before: passionate but lonely. Worry not, dear; this tea will give you all the company you need.

"I carry this heart like a song
threnody of fear and desire the way it knocks insistent
at the door then lets no one in."
As always, the spoken raspy tenor with its inflective failures bade a foreign taste to silent, typeset words. Spoken with punctuation that didn't belong, the way voice dropped off unlike a plucked string. Ey didn't dwell; perhaps Delphine wouldn't notice and Gisela wouldn't care. Eion drank what ey could before eir tongue started to cook. Eir mouth twitched, a half-wince, otherwise swallowed down by years of burning consumption, of cultivating a stiff upper lip unbelonging to eir culture.

Worse off was Delphine, having been so bustled and bullied —

Delphine —

Spice-touched, ey swallowed hard against an unknown rock. A pebble stuck against eir blasé relationship. A fair one she was, petite, poetically demure. Accepting of all the gentle badgering into a tea she never selected for herself. I know why the caged bird sings, ey thought distantly. Eion worried eir lower lip.

"How's yours?" Eion asked to the pair. How crowded it felt with strangers around him; how aware ey felt of eir scent with Gisela tucked intimate to eir side. Like sea-stricken gunwale, breezed cloth, and esoteric moondust remnants of eir youma form ever haunting em. Copper was a settled thought like blood on the tongue. Like the chai that simmered thoughtfully behind eir molars. "This one tastes like a cinnamon chai. Good, but strong. Cayenne''s in it." How flat the words felt, how beside the point.

Seren was wandering through the carnival some more, and was feeling the chill, when she noticed the scent of tea filling the air. She followed it, her eyes bright and curious, before ending up in front of an old lady's cart. She glanced it over, curiously, and almost jumped when the woman spoke. She was listening to the lady's offer, as she noticed the odd phrase about it not being for the faint of heart. She bit her lip, trying to decide if maybe she wanted to go find a cocoa stand or something... Did she have the courage to try this tea? Especially when it would cost her giving a stranger information about herself?

Finally, she gave a hesitant nod and said "I think I shall answer questions... I would prefer to choose my own tea, as I am more... aware of my preferences in the matter, I think." She began to examine the options, and finally decided the sweet scent of the Uni-tea was probably the best bet. She tapped the label, and nodded at the woman, letting her ask the questions.

The first one, about what makes her feel lonely, had her almost fleeing. She froze, and took a long, slow breath, before she finally sighed and said "Many things. Families out together, showing how much they love each other. Friends who have clearly known each other a long time. Sitting in my room at night, wishing I was with one of the two people I trust the most, because being alone is the hardest thing, now that I do not have to be anymore."

The second question was easier, and it let the uncomfortable knot in her chest that the first question caused her untangle itself. She took a slow, deep breath, and smiled softly. "His name is Nate. He is my boyfriend, and the person I am closest to in all the world. He is so kind, and caring, and I love him very much. I do not know how I got so lucky as to find such a wonderful best friend and boyfriend, but I did and if I could give him the world to show him how much he means to me, I would. I would give him everything, and more." She blushed a touch, because she probably sounded kind of sappy and ridiculous to an outsider, but her words were heartfelt and that was what mattered.

The third question had her pursing her lips, thoughtfully, as she stared at a random whorl in the wood grain. She was silent for a long moment, as she worked to formulate her answer to this, rather loaded, question. "I think the answer is yes, but not normally. If the lie would save their lives, save them from incredible pain, and would not cause greater pain for the person in the long run, then yes. Most lies are wrong, and I do include most white lies in that... It is one thing to tell your girlfriend that an outfit is not flattering in gentle words, but it is a whole other thing to lie and say she looks good when she does not. She is opened to ridicule and shame, because people can be very cruel. So... Rarely, yes." She refocused on the old woman, wondering what she thought. She did not seem to have a clear reaction, though, other then to prepare the tea.

Soon, she handed Seren her cup of tea, and smiled, letting Seren have the time to enjoy it. She drank, and was only barely able to hide her surprise at how sweet this tea was. She had expected a sweetness from the aroma, but any sweeter and this tea would make her teeth hurt. She finished it, and thanked the woman, before heading on her way.

Seren was surprised when, five minutes later, a squirrel suddenly ran over and chattered at her in a friendly fashion, and then began to follow her. When it was shortly joined by another, along with a freaking Tundra Swan, an owl, and even a warbler that landed on her shoulder, she began to feel a little freaked out. What the hell was going on...?

Quote:
1. Stu-tea-ous

Glancing away at a sudden, curious sound in the background behind you, you turn around to a warm smile from the old lady.

"This tea will help you focus," she explains with a smile, as if knowing of your problem of staying on task. A jar opens up and the dark leaves shift in the jar. "You'll be able to finish whatever needs to be done. After all, there's not much time left for present shopping and gift wrapping, is there?"

Question 1: What do you find the most distracting?

Question 2: What do you feel is the purpose in life - as in, why are you making an effort at all?

Question 3: What makes you the most uncomfortable?

Tea Effects
This tea tastes rather herbal but it's not bad. Soon you find yourself able to focus better... but unfortunately, you hyper-fixate to the point where you fail to focus on anything else.

Loren loved tea, and he didn't think twice about approaching the cart with the old woman watching it. 'Madame's Tea Cart' was a fascinating mixture of old and new paint, and the 'not for the faint of heart' did, admittedly, give Loren some pause. Why would tea not be for the faint of heart? How bad could a cup of orange pekoe or Darjeeling or English breakfast be? Was the mint tea particularly powerful? When she immediately pulled out the tea jars, it startled him, a bit. That alone almost made him move on, almost made him offer a hurried apology as he shuffled along. However, he decided he could give it a shot after all. What could it hurt, right?

Honestly, he knew better than to ask himself that question, but the 'what the heck' was strong. And so, Loren approached and listened to her pitch. No money? As the proverbial "starving college student", he was okay with that. An item of sentimental value? Reflexively, Loren patted his pockets down. No, he only had his wallet and cell phone with him. Neither were particularly sentimental. He kept all of his keepsakes at home, after all, and it wasn't like he had a keychain or something that an old friend or love interest could have given him.

So, the questions it was, then.

Okay, but what... kind of questions? And what did she want with sentimental items anyway? What kind of use could she possibly get out of them? Most sentimental things were going to be useless, old, relatively worthless to a random stranger.

It was kind of weird, really. Trading for people's old mementos? Why? For what purpose?

He supposed he'd be better off considering the prospect of answering three random questions. Was he obligated to answer them? He supposed he could refuse and leave if they were too invasive or weird. He wouldn't get any tea, but if she was asking weird, invasive questions then maybe he didn't want that tea anyway.

What was an old woman going to do, hold him there because he didn't want to answer a question?

"Questions," Loren replied after a very long moment, gesturing to one of the jars. A sound behind him caught his attention and, despite himself, he glanced back at it for a quick second. When he looked back, she was smiling warmly at him. She opened the jar. Loren told himself it was an errant breeze that moved the leaves in that jar.

When she asked the first question, he paused in surprise. Alright, it wasn't invasive or anything. It seemed okay enough. What did he find most distracting? "When people are carrying on conversations while I'm trying to work. Sudden loud noises. That sort of thing."

Her second question also caught him by surprise and he actually debated not answering this one. It was a very odd question, to be quite honest, but he told himself he was jumping at shadows. What would be the harm in answering it? "To do good. To do more good than other people are doing bad. There are people who would be worse for it if I didn't try at life." An awkward pause as he kicked at a late crunchy leaf on the ground. "Myself most of all, really." He rocked on his heels just as awkwardly as he waited for her third question.

... What made him the most uncomfortable?

Like... in what context?

A lot of things made him uncomfortable, not least of which the frankly overly open-ended question she had just given him. But the most uncomfortable? "I don't.. actually know. A lot of things could make me pretty uncomfortable. I'm not good with people, especially if they don't have the patience to deal with me misunderstanding their tone, or something." He frowned. "Pushy people, I guess. The kind that do what they want, and to hell with what everyone around them thinks."

Tea was a nice way to relax.

Shikora had come to the fair as a way to relax, but all of the people who came to the winter carnival admittedly had her on edge. Too many people tended to have her on edge a lot these days, considering that most gatherings she had gone to with a lot of people only resulted in trouble. The Negaverse, usually. People dying. Starseeds being pulled. Generals with way too much power and way too much of an ego to realize what they were doing to the planet they were proclaiming they were trying to save.

She fidgeted nervously as she approached the stand. Perhaps the tea would put her mind at ease. That was all she wanted, really. A way to relax. This would be fine, right? It wasn't like the Negaverse ruined everything in this city.

Just most things.

Apparently.

Shikora tossed over her head the chances of the woman in front of her turning into a Negaverse agent as she bowed her head in a polite greeting. "Hi, Madame," greeted Shikora, lifting her head up with a gentle smile on her face. It betrayed all of the emotions tossing around in her head.

At least, to an extent.

The woman in front of her smiled and made her offer. It seemed simple enough-- Answer her three questions for a cup of tea. It was suspicious too, of course; why wouldn't she just want the money? When Shikora sold anything she made, she usually just outright sold it unless she was selling to friends. Was there a reason why this particular tea didn't cost any money?

Should she be worried?

Still, Shikora was not a hard one to convince, and with a smile, she replied, "I'm feeling generous. What do you have to ask me?"

"I sense something is ailing you, dear," the old woman crooned softly. Shikora couldn't help the way she started. How did she know? Shikora thought she had done a good job of keeping her emotions off her face. Did she look worried? Sometimes, she did just look worried. It was hard to help sometimes. People concerned her.

The old woman, with a chuckle, continued. "This tea will help calm your worries and restore inner peace for you. Wouldn't it be nice to not have to worry about anything, anymore? You should be celebrating the season, not stressing over it."

Well, maybe the woman was a little off.

Still, Shikora would play along. "Okay. What do I need to answer to get it?"

"It's simple, dear," replied the woman, with a shake of her head. "Just answer my questions three. Where do you go to find peace?"

This actually was not a terribly hard question for Shikora, who had a dreamy smile on her face as she thought of it. "Sometimes, I go to the pottery and painting shop, where I tend to make carvings. Sometimes people will paint them, too." Like Bellatrix, for example, who had outright taken one of the birds she had carved. Shikora wasn't terribly upset about that, though. "Other times, I go home, to my bedroom where I have a chair, and I sit in it, drink some hot chocolate, and read studies. It's relaxing."

The woman nodded thoughtfully.

"Alright. What is your greatest fear?"

Shikora paled.

"My -- that's terribly personal, isn't it?"

The woman smiled.

"Do you want the tea?"

Shikora fell silent, looking at her feet. What did she fear the most? She wasn't sure. There were a lot of things she worried about. People were what she worried over the most. Of course, that was worry. What did she fear? In some ways, Shikora was deeply familiar with the things she feared, as much as she tried not to acknowledge it. Fear itself, of course. But also loneliness. Failure. Not being enough. Not being enough for her patients, the people around her, anyone. Failing them. Letting them die when she could have helped. Letting them fail when she could have done something. Being... "Being useless."

The woman nodded. "I hardly think that should be a concern of yours, dear. Now, a question. When is it acceptable, if ever, to disobey the law?"

This was a much easier question.

"I prescribe by the rule that good is not necessarily lawful."

"That's not a full answer, my dear."

"It's acceptable if the law is not good. If the law is harming others. If obeying the law will harm others. If the law is, arguably, immoral itself. If the law is, arguably, unjust. Do good, no matter what. Even if that means getting in trouble with the authorities because you don't agree with what they think good really is. If the law was good, would there be protests? If the law was good, would it ever change?"

Satisfied with the answers given, Shikora was granted the tea. Happily, she sniffed at it, taking the warmth into her cold nose, before taking a sip. What flavour was this? Did it even have a flavour? Why did it just taste like ... leaf water? Bitter leaf water?

Was there anything to this?

Was there anything to ... anything?

3. Tranquili-tea

"I sense something is ailing you, dear," the old woman croons softly. "This tea will help calm your worries and restore inner peace for you. Wouldn't it be nice to not have to worry about anything, anymore? You should be celebrating the season, not stressing over it."

  • Question 1: Where do you go to find peace?

  • Question 2: What is your greatest fear?

  • Question 3: When is it acceptable, if ever, to disobey the law?

Tea Effects
This tea tastes tragically... bland. In fact, after you finish your tea, you realize you soon find everything to be rather bland, much like the beverage. You have lost your ability to care; any emotion is now stunted, both good and bad.

Enyo, as a cat, never expected to be put into a position where she was needing to pretend she was cat and dismiss the fact she was in fact, a talking cat that was actually a member of a highly advanced race called mauvians and had been reborn on earth wih the purpose to awaken senshi and set them on their paths- except she was corrupted and thus was working against the senshi she was supposed to waken to their powers and look lady it was very complicated but as far as she could pretend? She was a cat. That was Enyo's story and she was sticking with it.

Even if the biddy did seem to know that Enyo was far beyond a normal cat. After all, how many old coots talked to animals, (okay, besides your everyday old coot, Enyo wasn't saying old people talked to their pets more than the normal everyday person but man did they like to talk your ear off when they thought you'd not talk back or try to run because no Karen, she was so not into listening to your glory days when you chased all those fine young men around the city she didn't want to think about that).

Tilting her head as she looked at the tea and the woman, her frown was comical on her face. She was a cat in form after all- but the woman was right. She was lonely. Very lonely. Being a agent of the negaverse hardly made it easy to make friends, especially when half the forces wanted you dead.

All she wanted in exchange- company. Time. An hour of just keeping the old bird some company in the cold. It was fair enough. Her time might be valuable, but Enyo also craved company herself so she could relate. And it wasn’t like she had much else to give aside from a bad meowing rendition of a tune or two. She had a cover to maintain after all. A nod of her head was the best Enyo could give as agreement, yet- three questions to be answered for the tea? Fur puffed up as Enyo answered. Or as well a cat could answer. What made her feel lonely? A stern look said it all. She was a CAT. She could hardly pretend to not be a cat outside her work after all. Her friend- She wilted at that one. She didn’t really have any close friends. It was sobering. In fact, it was depressing. And was it okay to lie?
She blinked, a slow nod of her head.

A teacup pushed to her, a smile on the woman’s face. It was warm. Nice even. Not by the way of flavor at least. Sighing as she lapped at the tea, the woman stroking her fur, Enyo began to purr softly under the woman’s hands. It was nice.

What wasn’t nice was later, how animals kept following her, long after she left the tea woman.
But, seeing a cat being followed by various animals including a doe was probably not the oddest thing in Destiny City…

Once rolled, the winners may each take their pick of one of the following holiday IC RP items:

Quote:
Snowball Pendant - A round, white gemstone that resembles a perfect snowball and glistens in the slightest light
The snowball pendant hangs from a glistening silver chain. You can easily detach it and hurl it at something or someone to encase them in a thick layer of ice for up to three minutes. The ice is chilly to the touch but isn't cold enough to do any damage, and if used on a human or living target will only encase them from the neck down. This can only be used while in civilian form and cannot be used while the wearer is powered up but it can be used against any opponent your civilian is facing. Once the five minutes is up, the ice melts and disappears in a magical breeze, only for the pendant to return to the chain. It is still beautiful, however no longer has any magical properties and will function as a normal crystal pendant if thrown again. It might not have any magic, but it's a nice memento!

Snowglobe - A magical snowglobe of a strange, unfamiliar town.
Shaking the snowglobe transports you and up to one other person of your choosing into a magical realm that looks strangely like the unfamiliar town. You can leave if you like, but this is a one time visit that should last no longer than 12 hours. All of the homes in the town are open/free to explore, but you cannot take anything that you find in this realm home with you and there doesn't seem to be anyone here when you arrive. There's something immensely therapeutic about the snowy realm; you find peace and quiet wherever you go and when you come out no time has passed in the real world. This could be such a great way to accomplish tasks if you could take them with you, but try as you may you cannot return to the snow world after the first trip. You can keep the snowglobe as a reminder, however!

Snuggly Scarf - A magical scarf that makes you feel warm and whole.
Wearing this scarf brings insurmountable level of comfort and reassurance and gives you the boost you need 'to get through anything'. It feels like you have all the luck and support on your side, and if you happen to snuggle it up close to your ears you hear the comforting words of someone you care for, living or dead, whispering soft reassurances. This magic lasts for only a day and only affects one person. After twenty-four hours has passed all that remains is a normal, every day, snuggly scarf.

Memory Chest An empty, decorative chest.
This chest, upon first glance, is empty. It would be a great place to store linens or keepsakes, and maybe that's what someone used it for at one point. The next time you open the chest after taking it home you find an item that was once lost. It could be something of yours, or something once belonging to someone else-- nothing stolen, of course, but something that you thought was lost forever. This something should not be alive, but it can be something that you thought (or were certain) was destroyed, only to now be returned to you in good condition. Afterwards the chest is merely an empty, decorative chest once more-- and hey, you've got your item too!

Gisela watched in silence as Delphine answered the questions that she was given and received her tea. If she had known that she could choose for herself, then Gisela would have much rather done that. She stared down into her own reflection, rippling in the cup of tea and wondered what the old woman had meant about the tea helping her gain attention. Gisela didn't necessarily want attention. She wanted friends. People that she could count on to be there no matter what. She certainly counted Faustite among those people, but his ability to be with her was limited. It was unlikely that he would be able to simply come over to her house and relax for an evening with his... condition. Beautiful though it was. And Benitoite, while as dear to her as her own family, wasn't necessarily a peer in rank or age. No. Gisela wanted, above all else, friendship.

The echoes of laughter sounded in her ears and made her eyes grow far too hot. She leaned into the embrace, unspeakably happy that Eion had not seen fit to push her away, but rather pull her in tighter. Yes. Gisela happily counted this beautiful Nephilim as perhaps her dearest friend, whether he knew it or not. And it made her ache as she recalled how poorly she treated him when she was alone and afraid. Her condition an explanation, but never an excuse.

She should make a formal apology...

Her thoughts were interrupted by both the sound of Eion's song and the feeling of it vibrating through her chest. Gisela sniffled and looked up, watching his face form around the words as she crooned. A half smile formed on her lips, never mocking nor bemused but rather soothed by the sound. It wasn't a great smile -- the only thing Gisela ever did in great magnitude was panic. But it was there.

"You have a lovely voice, Nephilim," she complimented gently before continuing her answer, "mine's a bit sweet," she admitted, careful not to let the old woman hear her for fear and retribution.

"And your's Delphine," she asked, painfully aware of the small songbird who was hopping ever closer in search of food that Gisela did not have.
