She was delighted he agreed, and further delighted, surprised,
and excited when his lips moved. "
Oh." Well. then. That was another unexpected but very much appreciated surprise.
The next evening, arriving early once more at the designated meeting spot, Knot had a box in her arms. From a distance it looked like one of those nice fancy chocolate boxes sweethearts got each other around the holidays, but not quite. When the knight appeared, a wide grin split the woman's face as she closed the distance between them, and showed off the box.
"I was racking my brain on what to get you last night, but then it occurred to me---why not something for you to give to the special lady in your life who makes you honest?" Her eyes creased in amusement as she said this, and she then opened the lid.
At first glance, they almost passed for chocolates, but upon closer inspection, the treats inside where shaped like objects
dogs would like. "It's a selection of different freshly baked dog treats from that new gourmet dog bakery that opened up downtown, Barker's Dozen. It has stellar reviews so far." Knot lifted the lid a bit higher.
"Here it lists what the different flavors are, so if you find she likes some more than others, you can take her there and get more." The woman closed the lid on the box, and then held it out to the knight. "Happy Belated Birthday, Beringia." She smiled.
