Tortuga let the group talk while he investigated the walls of their prison, the chatter background noise however when his name was called out he jumped slightly, rapping his head against the wall. Leaning over and getting startled tended to have one's head meet the wall in a rather painful moment. Absently rubbing his head where it met the wall the tall redhead stood up and turned to face the group, specifically the one who called out to him. "Hey Scylla," His wave was a bit more of a finger wave. He honestly didn't expect her to remember him so he wasn't entirely sure what the protocol was now. Did he walk over and exchange pleasantries? Continue to look for a way out? Sit in a corner and take a nap? The last times he had been spirited away into space there had always been something that needed doing, and this place wasn't following the norm.
"Nope just us," His answer was rather blase and was accompanied by a shrug. He wasn't the best at aura reading anyway, since he tended to forget to pay attention to that part of the whole knight thing much to his chagrin. "Love the new tattoos by the way," he grinned at the glowing marks the senshi was sporting but what had him striding over was the phone she pulled out. He forgot that senshi had phones. "Hey, you got Maia's or Shang's, uh Shangri-La's, contact info? Or Denebola? I feel like I was going out to meet one of them before I ended up... where ever here was." He gestured to their surroundings before anxiously running his fingers through his hair, ruffling the already disheveled red locks.
Purple eyes drifted over to the youngest of them when she offered to check the windows before shaking his head. "Even if you could get up and back down safely I doubt it would do much good. What ever brought us here probably didn't have the windows pegged as an exit. There is also no telling if we could survive the environment outside either. Hell, I'm surprised we are still alive as it is." This whole trip was one more nail in the 'visit your wonder' argument. He didn't want to go before and now he really didn't. Getting trapped in a desolate area in space was not his idea of a fun time.
"Just hope there isn't a HAL around," He muttered before glancing around again.

Castor sucked in a breath, another appeared, and his shoulders let go a bit of the tension.
"Hey, welcome to the party." He gave the knight a small smile, hopefully an encouraging one before turning back to Scylla. "Cadeus and I have an understanding. I doubt he would have brought me knowing my views as he does, so I suspect you're correct. The light and shapes..." He shook his head. "I've a fair deal of my past memories, but none of them resonate with any familiarity. They don't look like the script on the moon either, unless it were a more archaic or stylized form." He shrugged. Linguistics of the worlds was never much of an issue before.
"I'd also advise against trying the windows- as much as I'd like to get a better view, right now, the risk is high that by leaving this area we'd expose ourselves to the possibility of being removed from a habitable zone, as the knight said. Not to mention, whatever called us has power- a great deal of it no less. The fact I'm here is telling to that- however its possible they're... unaware." He looked towards both Scylla and Celsus. He was not royal- and if they kept that fact unknown, there would be an advantage to it.
"The closer we keep the cards to our chest the better, and by cards I mean all of them. Our power, our energy, is best reserved. Right now we need to treat this as hostile territory until we know more."
He gave a nod towards the smallest of them- the newly woken perhaps. "It's not that I don't value or appreciate the want and willingness, but right now, we're at a high disadvantage. I'm Castor by the way. For now, that will have to suffice for introductions."
He looked at the doorways. "Let's go over what we know. Whatever summoned us here is powerful. Possibly old to have such a vast level of power required to do so. This is neither earth, nor, Elysion or Tartarus, which rules out Helios, the remnants or threat of the dark moon. We can also safely say this is not the work of a being known to us, as we all seem to be at a loss to the ruins and script. The commonality here is that we all align to order, and all have had rings placed upon our fingers which I'd hazard, are like my own and cannot be removed. Our powers are not bound, so there is a measure of freedom here and a question as to why. It is in-congruent to the purpose of taking us if the intent was to take us captive."
His arms crossed, he muddled over it. "In a worst case scenario, Scylla and Celsus would either have the greatest advantage or the most obvious crutch. Provided we're not cut off entirely..." he hesitated. "In the worst event I can get us safely away. You'll just have to take my word for it."
True, taking four others to his world from an unknown location would tax him heavily, but it was nothing he could not weather. And if it came down to it, he had his crystal. Hopefully, it would be enough to keep them all safe until the others could escape.
Scylla, that was her name. Celsus mentally recorded it, the recognition dawning; he knew she'd seemed familiar before, and now he was just remembering where and why that was. A small laugh escaped as he said, "Well, I'm glad to hear that there isn't a TSA here. Though I suppose there might be....'The Space Agency?' 'Terrible Space Association?'"
He pretended to mull over these, tapping a finger to his chin thoughtfully, but an all-too-familiar - and all-too-unwelcome - voice wafted towards them from behind, and Celsus closed his eyes momentarily as though willing some sort of inner strength back into himself.
"Castor," he said, with a more sardonic tone than he might have said to any other person, lips quirking up into what was sort of a smile, but didn't quite reach his eyes, which had turned a little frosty. Ironic, all things considered. Celsus tucked his hands together behind his back, feeling the unfamiliar ring pressing against his skin.
He didn't actually get a chance to answer the question posed to him, because as usual, Castor was taking the lead as though this was something that was his Cosmos-given right. It took a great amount of self-control for Celsus to not roll his eyes; really, he should have known better. Whatever phenomenal cosmic power had taken them, it clearly hadn't done anything to distinguish between ranks. And something about the prince's attitude and his mannerisms, as usual, as ever, grated on Celsus's nerves the way nothing else usually did.
He had not forgotten the night that Zinkenite returned. He had not forgotten the shouted demands, the glimmer of a crystal threat - a threat, from one of their own kind; the stunned and dispairing look in Corvus's eyes as she'd tried to take control back of a situation that had spiraled out into the universe.
He had no idea what Castor was trying to insinuate with the look he was given. Celsus returned it with a single raised eyebrow.
"I've no idea what you mean by that," he said lightly, voice surprisingly level and calm. "I've no intention of becoming anyone's crutch, whether cut off from my Wonder or not. And rather than that, I'm quite all right with getting myself to safety, but I do appreciate the offer."
Perhaps he was being overdramatic, but he had never taken well to having things decided for him. The lady Chronos had never done so, and neither had Virgo. It might have been for different reasons; it might have been because they had not thought him worthy -
- the momentary flash of self doubt made the lines on Celsus's throat burn, made the markings glow briefly, a bright golden light that interspersed with his transcendece markings. He shoved the thought away with a few little mental reminders and a few little thoughts of Corvus, and then gave both Tortuga and Lacerta a smile.
"I'm Celsus, by the way," he said kindly, by way of introduction. "Knight of Chronos. Do either of you have any ideas? Any recent dreams, or incidents, perhaps?"

Castor held a blank face, considering Celsus's tone and dismissing it. He was not a Castor knight, and as far as he was concerned, he owed it to Chronos to try and align with him- if marginally. "Only that we might be able to have the advantage of surprise Celsus. I arrived as I am, just as no doubt you did. If whoever, or whatever that took us all is aware of our limitations or not, remains to be seen. You and Scylla either might have a large advantage in being transcendent, or, be weakened for it. I don't doubt your ability, conviction, and willingness to do battle- only that we should consider ourselves in a position that places us at a great disadvantage."
He titled his head, huffing in annoyance. "You're skilled and smart enough to know your limits. As is, we need to consider the worst case scenario. You and Scylla are our best bet when it comes to knowing of any changes to the aura of this place. Plus if you can still sense Chronos, that means her bond will likely help tether you all the more strongly should something untoward happen to the rest of us." He frowned.
"Chances are, if this goes south, you'll be the only one able to call for aid."
So the idea of checking the windows had literally gone out the window. Lacerta glanced at the objects in question before listening in to the words that Castor was speaking. 'Well, guess offering to check was my only contribution for now.' It stung just a little that her willingness to do something had been shrugged off, but it had been a fair point that had been brought up in counter-argument. The idea that they keep their powers in reserve was a good one and Lacerta wondered if that meant keeping what she could do a secret as well. Hopefully none of them would need the use of her powers but only time would tell.
Still nothing rankled more than being almost idle in the conversation. When Celsus turned and offered her a smile and asked if she'd encountered anything strange of late Lacerta had to shake her head. "I don't believe that I've had any dreams that would indicate something like this happening. Sorry I can't be of more help. I think this is my first time being somewhere other than Earth to be honest."
The redhead glanced at the others for a moment before bringing her hand up to examine the ring more closely. It was still the same as before and she was beginning to wonder the reason for needing rings. Why were they chosen and why couldn't the rings be removed? Was there any meaning at all?

All calls to the outside world were met in vain; cell phones gave no indication that the message had sent, and if anyone tried to send a message with a knight ring there was no visible response. They may have had a connection with their world, but it was faint enough that they knew it existed but didn't seem to have any real contact with it.
They could not teleport out of here, they could not warp; they were stuck.
Cosmos did not call at Castor's call; it was very likely even she couldn't see or hear what the group was being met with inside this strange location.
While there weren't any hidden doors, there was a large, unmovable door that seemed like it was carved into the wall. It could not have been opened of its own means but there was certainly something happening.
It wasn't noticeable at first, but the longer the group spent together, the more their rings seemed to glisten. They were still dark--iridescent, but otherwise colorless. Every now and then a spark of light would shine, brighter and more frequent the closer they were, the longer they spent together.
The temple itself seemed to be in some way alive, or at least aware of their presence. It might have been some enchantment, or some fluke, but the ground below them had a beautiful scrolling symbol carved into it.
When the rings began to illuminate, so too did this pattern.
It lit up as if liquid light was filling the grooves, and it lead to a sixth door. This too rumbled, lifted, and exposed a long hallway. The path was illuminated by the light, guiding them. An unseen force nagged at them, brushed them, pushed them, to follow it.
If there was any hope of answers, or escape, this was it.
Quote:
Your character has the strange sensation that something is trying to lead them down this path; if you try to resist, you may feel a little tug on the hand with the ring. You can look around and take in any sights, but you cannot stray from the path you are being lead on. Something about this place has decided that this is the path you will follow, regardless of whatever your own will may be.
Tortuga's compliment on her tattoos was met with a toothy grin, and a "getting them sucked, but worth it." But the fact no one had felt anything different... Only them. And someplace... unusual. Castor was making friends, of course, and she nodded her head at Tortuga's point about being able to... survive.
"Neither of us will be a liability, Castor." Her voice was firm, flat. No doubt, but not upset at his assessment. But she could feel her homeworld, and it hadn't abandoned her. "No crutch or handicap, though honestly... Probably not a bonus either. Still, I think between the five of us we can handle what this place throws at us." She passed Lacerta and Tortuga a smile, and Celsus got a wink.
They were discussing things, and Scylla remained close, though her eyes wandered. They weren't going to try for the windows; probably for the best. But what could they try? That was when Scylla peered at a section of wall, then paused.
"That isn't a mural," she realized, "that's actually a door." How had she missed that? And something was happening to it as they spoke. "Guys. May I suggest we go take a look?" It wasn't like there was anything else to do- sparkling door, glowing lights, magical rings-
"Wasn't this what happened when Gaia summoned the Planeteers?" she quipped, "I have dibs on Heart." Hopefully she hadn't dated herself too badly.
The light was beautiful, and there was almost certainly something down there, ready to eat them. In her experience, that was just how it worked with giant mystery doors and odd magic. They just had to actually get it open... Or maybe it would open itself, exposing a brightly lit hall.
That worked too.
"Ladies first?" She told the boys, not really making a question of it, because the ring was tugging on her hand and Scylla was curious.

It was hard not to notice the occasional flashes of light the longer that they remained in the main room together. It didn't seem as if anything that had been going on with the senshi phones was working so early in the waiting period Lacerta had merely tucked hers away. Besides giving light (which was unnecessary at this point) the phone would have no use. Tilting her head this way and that the senshi of bandages had begun to nod off just a little bit until the newest door rumbling filled the air and jarred her into full wakefulness once more.
As Scylla made her comment about Gaia and the Planeteers Lacerta knit her brows in confusion before making the connection. She'd heard of the show that the older senshi was referring to but it had been before her time. She glanced down the tunnel that was now exposed to the group. Her mind was in conflict. Worry was setting in that she'd not get home. As she heard Scylla's "Ladies first" comment Lacerta chuckled and sidled past the entrance into the tunnel where she waited for the others. Her voice was clear as she passed, "If you call dibs on Heart, I want Wind then."
It was easier to joke about the situation even as she felt the gentle tug on her ring finger. It seemed as if the rings were the ones calling the shots now. She made an about face to look at Celsus, Tortuga and Castor. "So Earth, Fire and Water are left. Who wants what?"
Tortuga's gaze pingponged between the two guys, mentally sighing at the realization that this little trip might not be as smooth sailing as one would hope of after being kidnapped into space somewhere. The only reaction that he visibly showed though was a slight widening of his eyes when Castor introduced himself, Tortuga actually knew who he was... or knew of him. Prince of Hail or something like that. He had to have been suppressing that last little bit of power since Tortuga knew that he had actual wings and everything, and apparently might even be able to get them out of here if it came down to it.
"Tortuga, squire for Jupiter," his own introduction was nearly as short as Castors but was joined with a shake of his head at Celsus' questions. "What she said," he pointed to the senshi and added, "Though I've done a little world hoping so." His statement ended rather abruptly with a shrug which was good actually since Scylla pointed out something that he had just written off as another mural.
He followed her lead and snickered at her Planeteers comment. It was definitely dating her but since he actually got it, it didn't say much about his own age, "Wouldn't water make more sense what with your little friend and all?" He grinned at the eternal and wiggled his fingers at 'friend' to indicate her kraken powers. He wasn't knocking it since it saved his life once, he really didn't want to see her when she got mad thats for sure.
Tortuga didn't get much of a chance to check out the mural like door before it too lit up and opened, at least he wasn't blinded like he was by his cell door. He saw that his ring lit up as well as the door slid open. Strange. He wanted to check out the new space but caution also had him hesitating. The two girls didn't seem to mind the mysterious path though, joking that ladies went first. Power wise Scylla going first wasn't a half bad idea, then Castor, Celsus, the senshi... he still wasn't sure if he caught her name or not... and himself. Or something like that since those three were the powerhouse, he was more of a medic but he could also at least cover their rear if something followed them. The senshi was the unknown, not that any of that mattered since the two females stood in the tunnel without really any thoughts about what might happen.
"I might have red hair like the fire kid but I'm more of a earth guy," He muttered as he joined them at the tunnel threshold. His purple gaze already looking ahead, curious but mostly weary of what they might face.
Damn it, he really hated space!

The raised brow was still in place. "I'm sure I don't know quite what you mean about us being at a disadvantage," said Celsus, in the same calm and relaxed tones that one might use to discuss the weather. "But your concern is duly noted, Castor, thank you for your interest in my well-being."
He smiled cheerily, then turned back to Lacerta and the other - Tortuga, it seemed, the green eyes behind his glasses warming marginally. "No need to apologize," Celsus said kindly. "I'm sure it's all rather a bit overwhelming. I admittedly haven't had much preamble to this either - in fact, none at all - and I've been a knight for close to ten years now, give or take a year or two."
It felt both like no time at all and an extraordinary amount. Celsus's eyes flickered towards Lacerta's ring as she held it up to look, and his own felt heavier, more prominent on his hand. His gaze moved to rest on Scylla as she spoke, her voice cool and easygoing, almost as Celsus' had been, but lacking, probably, the same feelings that Celsus had inside for them. He was not going to work against Castor, because that would have been a waste of time and rather stupid in these circumstances; but he certainly did not have to take orders from a man who was not his prince if it came down to that.
But for now, he could set it aside and focus on where they were.
If only he knew more than that. Celsus was frowning in thought, left hand raised, fingers tapping at his chin. His own ring was on his index finger, his knight ring a mirror on his right hand, though neither seemed to be doing anything at the present moment except merely existing.
And possibly glowing a little.
Celsus, still lost in his musings, almost missed the grinding of the walls as they began to rumble to life again. He lifted his head and caught sight of Scylla standing beside a now open doorway, the tattoos tracing down her spine and along her back clearly visible as she peered around.
"Is this the part where we go into Mordor?" Celsus asked blithely. "Because if so, I'd rather not be attacked by any goblins or anything."
He felt a strange sort of tugging in his chest, a peculiar sort of...what was it? Longing? It was difficult to tell, Celsus frowning a little as he moved over to where Scylla was standing, fingers absently moving across the ring on his left hand. He had, quite honestly, no idea what on earth they were talking about - planeteers? - but that was the least of his problems at present.
"Well, then," said Celsus with a sigh. "Shall we press forward, then? Excelsior."
The fact was not lost on Izobel that she was probably the youngest, newest, and least experienced one in this group of five. It was a shame that there was no one else at least closer in age. The fact that two of the group were seemingly at odds with one another made the teen shake her head. It seemed that even adults couldn't get along with each other. Stifling the urge to pull away from the group Lacerta allowed herself to be passed before finding herself walking next to the other, quieter redhead in the group...the one who seemed to have gotten the reference that Scylla had given.
Blue eyes locked onto Tortuga as she briefly sighed, "In all the excitement I think I got your name, but you never got mine. I'm Lacerta. It's nice to meet you. Only wish the circumstances where different and not one gigantic mystery needing to be solved."
Her gaze took in the illuminated tunnel and the pathway that was still glowing. Her ring still seemed to flash occasionally and she was puzzled by it. Lacerta's gaze took in the others around her and frowned. Was she the only one who had not been into space previously? That would need to change and soon. Maybe, if she managed to get through whatever this was, she would try and visit her world.

At the lack of reception, and response from Cosmos, who had always told him she would come when needed- He bristled with unease. "I'm concerned." He voiced the the group at large. "Cosmos is not responding. And she knows I don't make a call without reason. I-" He swallowed. "I am extremely uncomfortable with what is going on here."
As the rings seemed to be active in some form, he looked at his own, not wanting to think ill and that this was indeed, some elaborate trap or binding but- if felt wrong. There was always a link, always a presence and energy with things yet this place felt void. As if it had sucked away that which was a part of them. He didn't like it- he never would like it when he felt that he was in a place, torn and rendered helpless. He was a warrior, a general and commander in his past and every cell in him screamed danger.
But yet thus far, there was none, and somehow, that made it worse.
As the rings illuminated along the floor, he hissed, arms raised in defense before lowering. Perhaps, his mind said, he was being overly cautious. Yet both the words of Cosmos and the existence of Cadeus were stalk reminders- there were forced not yet known to them, and not all were kind. Scylla's glib did bring a tiny smile back to his face, but the royal remained with a frown. He could feel the pulse, the pull from the ring, and it was unlike the pull he oft felt on his world. It wasn't familiar, and so, he automatically assumed danger.
He managed a small smile at Lacerta, finding the discussion a nice diversion from the nagging in his own mind. "I'll take Water then- only fitting for myself. But-" He did gasp out as small chuckle as Tortuga joined in their discussion of becoming the planeteers. "Scylla is one of the most warmhearted senshi I know. When we make if out of here, you should patrol with her if you can. And well, if she's amicable to it." He let them both see the genuine affection he had for the senshi of the Kraken. "And we will make it out of here."
He had to tell himself that, because if he thought they would fail whatever this was- there would be fall out. Drastic fall out. A royal, one of the veteran senshi with a high ranking offensive power, one of the most powerful and aged knights, a well rounded squire and a new blood- the loss of them, both a strange motley crew yet those of such varied rank and power would be a deeply moral blow to order and the causes within.
They could not fall here.
Sucking in a breath towards Celsus he remained silent for once. He was no friend, would likely never be a friend given his words with Serenade that day, but he would, if Celsus wished it or not, be looked after in a way. Castor owed Chronos that much. She'd lost Eon. Lost most of her court. He couldn't, wouldn't, allow her to lose another.
Looking down the path he thought on formation. He was a good figure to place at the front, but his magic was focused on both wide range and close combat. He also might change but in the narrow passageway, he'd be at the greater disadvantage if they encountered resistance or a blockade. Thankfully, Celsus took the first step and for that, Castor was grateful.
"He's right to take point." He said to Scylla and the others. "I'll take rear. If something comes from behind I should be able to take the brunt of it. Tortuga, Lacerta, if you both can, try to keep your own senses open. While we three might have experience, you both have the advantage of being easily underestimated because of said experience. You can use that in your advantage if it comes down to it in a fight." He nodded at Scylla and then at their younger peers.
"I'll support you from behind. I trust Scylla and Celsus on forward guard." He paused then- "If Scylla goes next that does mean we all get a very nice view as well so really I think everyone would win in this formation."
Tortuga winced at the Mordor comment, they all did have rings after all but he definitely didn't want to be a hobbit in the Lord of the Rings' Middle Earth. It didn't help that it appeared that none of them could actually get their rings off, Tortuga absolutely didn't want to have to pull a Samwise Gamgee and use a blade to get the ring off. No thank you. Not if it can be avoided at least.
His mind swirled, mashing up the old tv show with the geek classic and a touch of superheros... Excelsior was right. The closet geek in him teared up at that word even as he kept a blank face, his serious demeanor breaking a bit when the young girl fell back to introduce herself to him. He flashed her a smile even as he greeted her properly, "Nice to meet you Lacerta, I'm Tortuga although you likely already know that by now." He nodded towards the others in general to indicate what he meant. "If only the Scooby Gang were here, it would all be wrapped up sooner rather then later. And we would all come to find out it was mean old Mr. Jenkins after all." He tossed out another reference, hoping to keep the anxiety and stress from swamping them. Tortuga knew that being on guard was needed but if they were too stressed out it would only hinder them all.
Purple eyes flicked to Castor when the prince in disguise started to give out suggestions for their possessions. It pretty much lined up with his own thoughts and in an effort to keep anyone from getting their fur ruffled, just in case, he added his two cents in. "I'm not an expert but in some of the big games with parties they stick range class towards the middle, tanks in front, and healers in the back. I'm just a muggle EMT but Maia's kicked my a** around enough that I know my way around so Castor if you want to stick more towards the middle or the front you can. I can protect our rearguard." He shrugged and of course contradicted himself a moment later, "but up to you guys. I'm better at straight up fights or patching people up, not a big fan of all this mystery s**t."

"Too bad it wasn't Earth Wind and Fire back there," Scylla quipped, wondering how many of them would even know what reference she was making, "It would be really groovy."
Still, the Eternal laughed when Tortuga waggled his fingers at her, and shrugged. "All the Kraken wants is a hug. I don't know what else is more deserving of a little heart." she poked at him with one heeled boot, adding, "You're not the only redhead, so you can have Earth."
Calling back to Celsus, she said, "Unless you want to be in charge of taking the hobbits to Isengard. They had less goblins that way, but it still wasn't the Funvee Humvee."
She shook her head to Castor, sucking in a breath. "I understand your discomfort," she said after a moment, quietly, "But there isn't any going back. All we can do is keep a little levity and move forward. Staying here and worrying isn't going to take us anywhere, much less wherever the rings want us to go." She couldn't admit she wasn't uncomfortable herself- her instinctive fall back to bad jokes might make it a little obvious regarding that.
"I'm always open to a patrol with a friend," she assured them all with a smile, "Castor's right in that we're getting out of here. One way or another. Let's see what we have to work with. Celsus has decided it's going to be age before beauty-" and she tossed the tall knight a wink, to take out any sting- "which means more meatshield for me, and I'm good with that."
Her lips pursed, considering. "Castor's terrible thought process for debating what order we go in aside, I'd rather have him at the rear," she told Tortuga, "He's got a hell of a punch, and a few extra tricks up his sleeve that will let us spread out the damage if something comes at us." Plus the royal was used to being knifed in the back. Literally- not metaphorically.
Her heels clicked sharply as she strolled up a step behind Celsus, peering attentively around the path as the rings pulled them, intention clear.
Perhaps it was the mention that Tortuga made of being a muggle EMT that brought Lacerta back into the present. Was now a good time to admit that she had a sphere that included a healing attack. Of course the redheaded senshi knew that what Castor had mentioned earlier about keeping things not necessarily known to whatever had brought them here was weighing on her. This was certainly weighty thoughts for the teen. As Tortuga brought up the Scooby gang and evil Mr Jenkins Lacerta felt a small smile tug at the corner of her mouth. Well it worked a little. Of course being a child of the new millennium meant that she a different idea of a Scooby gang but that was alright. Her mind still turned over what was going on exactly and to whatever the rings were guiding them towards.
If she was being honest with herself she would have admitted that being guided by something as small as a ring that refused to budge was slightly overwhelming especially when one thought of who or what might be on the other end, controlling the rings. Instead of focusing on that she focused on another subject, one that was in her plans since meeting Scylla earlier.
"I'm thinking that I'd like to take that offer of patrolling up with you Scylla. When we get done with whatever is happening here that is."
Finding herself biting on her lower lip the senshi of bandages glanced back to Castor, who was in the rear position and then to Tortuga, beside her, and then to Scylla and Celsus, who were ahead of her. "At least we're in this together. Nothing has tried to keep us apart."
