"Of course," Y'io replied. "Though you've done nothing that needs forgiving." Closing his eyes, he felt her lips brush against his cheek. That was more than he'd been hoping for from her for all the grief he'd put her through, for the bitterness and cruel vicious behavior he'd placed on her. She forgave him, and the joy he felt at that was nearly overwhelming.
Raising a hand, he gently stroked her hair, then her cheek, cupping her sweet face. By Faranth, she was even more beautiful now than she'd been when he fell in love with her. Hesitantly he leaned over, lowering his face to hers. "You realize I still love you," he whispered. "Never stopped loving you." With that he gave her a light, lingering kiss on the mouth.

Nothing that needed forgiving? She'd left him in the first place. She could have refused. She could have insisted a dragonrider take her back. But then... She wouldn't have Dezinarth. She knew what happened to the babies when their riders weren't at the hatching...
She stared. She hadn't realized, no. She'd thought he was angry with him. She'd thought she hated him. "I never stopped loving you," she said, and returned his kiss.

Y'io melted into Mavri's kiss as if making up for lost time. The last bits of lingering doubt and mistrust and venom faded away under the warm glow of the love he felt for Mavri. His hand slid down her shoulder and he slipped his arms around her to hold her close again. He never wanted to let go.
But after long moments he broke off the kiss. "I would love to stand here forever," he murmured, "but we should get back to being Harpers. We don't want to disappoint our listeners. Or let the Weyrwoman down." At least one thing he knew: the music they played would be that much better now.
