Name Meaning:
Somnalius is a type of frond plant found in the game series The Elder Scrolls. Its a hardy plant to be able to grow in The Black Marsh, but very delicate while being picked. If not handled properly it will crumble to dust.
Temper: Contradictory
Personality: (Using male just cause its easier.)
Lius is just like the plant that gave him his name. Hardy and delicate all at the same time. Now I imagine you'd be utterly confused by this notion but living in this constant state of contradiction fits this foal just fine. He's both as strong as an oak branch and as delicate as a shed autumn leaf.
To put it into a little better terms he's hardy of body and weak of emotions. His emotions easily rule his life and he cannot help but cry at the birth of a new creature, or weep at the death of another. His connection to his emotions make his life a bit harder but he knows his family accepts him for all he is even if he's a bit of a "cry baby".

Personality: Sweet and kind, Viridis just wants to take care of the world. They can't stand to see people suffer, and have a genuine love of helping others. They don't seem to have an angry or mean bone in their body, and it's difficult for them to dislike others. It's not impossible, but it's entirely likely that the only enemies they'll make are those who are truly evil.
Even then, Viridis believes in the best of people, and while this might make them a little naive, they're alright with that. If they doesn't believe in the good in the world, who will?

Name Meaning: A Hawaiian name, meaning "forest."

Personality: Nahele can often be found chatting up travelers that pass by the family's forest, eager to learn about who they are and where they're headed. Being playful and incredibly energetic, he also has a habit of challenging others to a race through the woods, sometimes even going as far as teasing and egging them on if they refuse his offer. It doesn't matter if you end up winning or losing, it's all in good fun!

If Nahele thinks that the traveler might pose a threat to others, he'll make sure to do one of two things: lure them into the more questionable parts of the forest when racing or try to give them some terribly misleading directions. He's quite skilled at navigating the woods and, after some lucky encounters of his own, knows where some of the more dangerous plants and animals are located. Some may see it as cruel, judging others and then leading "the bad guys" to what might be their demise, but Nahele simply views it as protecting his family and other innocent soquili. Leading an aggressive traveler into a bunch of brambles, directing them straight to the den of a mother bear and her cubs, Nahele has all sorts of tricks up his sleeve. The way Nahele sees it, he's merely giving nature a helping hand in getting rid of those who may harm others.

Personality: Hawthorn is a thoughtful, shy and reserved child. Some might consider them sinister- they talk little, stare much and tend to come off a little strange. They are also fascinated with the more sinister parts of the forest, and tends to stick to the shadows and is more awake in the evenings and nighttime, liking to explore the forest by night. They're secretive but they love their mothers a lot, and a lot of what makes them seem "sinister" is just their shyness and introspection- they're not a bad kid, they just don't talk much. Most often found behind one or the other mother.

Name Meaning: (m) Bluebonnet is a name given to any number of blue-flowered species of the genus Lupinus predominantly found in southwestern United States and is collectively the state flower of Texas. The shape of the petals on the flower resembles the bonnet worn by pioneer women to shield them from the sun (the flower on his eye just looks like it)
Personality: (m) Bluebonnet is adventurous and full of energy, wanting to get into just about anything he can stick his snout into. Quite obsessed with flowers and his ability to shrink he's often found hiding out in any type of flower he can find. Open and accepting towards other's he has no fear of strangers which can probably lead to some safety issues in the future. Personality:

GIrasol is true to his name. He is a huge sun worshipper. He believes that photosynthesis (via his eye flowers) is what helps him grow emotionally as well as physically. The more sun he can get without singeing the petals, the better he feels. He loves the rain in the evening or during extremely hot days.
He is compassionate by nature and has a fondness of flowers. He keeps a small bee colony where he harvests the honey (often used medicinally) while providing a rather large garden for the bees to pollinate. He's a symbiotic relationship.
He's a great listener. In fact, he prefers to listen rather than talk. He's always there as a loving and dependable friend.
Girasol loves his family ardently. He likes it best when they are all around him. He dreams of adventures, but he'll never go too far away from his soquili family or his bee family.

Name Meaning: Species of deciduous tree

Personality: Aspen is new to life, and she is just about the most curious creature one could ever meet. She lives for questions - and doing what she can to find out their answers. She doesn't do it for the knowledge or the satisfaction; both reasons would be a little bit mature for her. Rather, Aspen is and will always be a child at heart, eager to explore what the world has to offer. Her favorite things are the games she plays with her family, especially when someone has developed a new one. Aspen does everything with enthusiasm, from eating to playing tag - even sleeping (yes, one could definitely find her lying nearly on her back, all four feet in the air, dreaming). Only one thing so far seems to dim her inner light... and that is winter.
Like her name, Aspen seems almost deciduous. While she is a happy, effervescent foal and adult through spring and summer, her mature, cautious side begins to come out in autumn. Fun facts about Aspen:
She believes everything in nature has a spirit, and so spends much of her time greeting and talking at the rocks, trees, and creatures around her. She does not expect them to talk back, but she thinks they like the attention. [I want her to interact with a familiar at some point and be completely shocked and indescribably happy that it talks back.]
She is pretty gullible, but she's smart - she'll catch on quickly to intentions which are less than pure. However, she could still be led astray into a misdeed. It would take an incredible amount of work on herself to feel like she's found forgiveness, but that's okay: it's not an easy path to travel.

Preferences: Female, Male Name: Willow (female) or Forrest (male) Name Meaning: Type of tree (female), of the woods (male) Temper: Grounded Personality: If Willow's hooves were somehow connected to the delicate root system beneath trees, she wouldn't be surprised. She spends all her free time studying and learning the poetry the earth; things like how the moon affects high and low tide, and the gentle ebb and flow of the planet. She sees the beauty in everything, even death; how would the forest survive without death? However, her pursuit of knowledge hasn't made her proud or conceited. Quite the opposite, she is the ever humble student, admitting that she may be wrong and accepting criticism and notes. Outside of her studies, she is a brave, fiercely loyal creature with strong-held beliefs about how others should be treated (she would not hesitate to fight another if she believed they were hurting someone else). There is no poetry or beauty in hatred and violence. Side note: I own a shaman and his daughter who would most likely be teachers and mentors to Willow. Personality: Im unsure if I would carry the same personality for each but for the purposes of this contest For here forth it will be for the male(male perspective)
Hartley is very spirited in his own right, he is as any other foal energetic and curious but has a strange desire to fly, he is jealous of creatures with wings that can fly, though he has wings they are unable to carry him and as such he blames nature. He holds a grudge against nature for making him a laughing stock(so he feels), as such he is rebellious when it comes to learning about nature from Mommy-Nevena. In this mind frame he doesnt even realize how much this must hurt her either.
Hartley will look down on nature and will even harm the trees taking out his frustration. He stays close to home as he feels strangers would make fun of him for his lack of flight but at the same time he longs to get away from the forest...away from the abundance of nature that is his life.
As he grows he will change thanks to certain events that occur. He will forcefully learn the aid nature can give with its herbal remedies possibly after a sibling or close friend or family member are hurt possibly due to his actions and he is sent to gather things to help with a poultice of some sort. He will slowly realize how young and stupid he has been and will start to learn about nature as he should have in his younger days. He will eventually get over his lack of flight(possibly with time and as he grows bigger he may gain some flight)
As he gains an understanding and appreciation for nature he finds himself being rather in-tune with it and he gains a closer bond with Mommy Nevena. He still has an adventuring heart but instead of wanting to escape his forest he wants to journey to bring a better understanding and knowledge that he gained there to others. He will venture out to other forests and lands to help heal and teach. He will still be a little hard headed and it will never be easy to change his mind once he has set out to do something. He will always return to his family and his home and hopefully with more knowledge than he left with.
(If I win the girl I may keep aspects of this personality but maybe not to the rebellious degree should it be the boy)

Hellebore though their name seems foreboding, gives light to how they view the world, quiet observation, careful studies to be had. Knowledge to be gained. If this one would have the ability to steal books and decipher the scribbles of humans, this one would. Being plant like they will spend hours meditating in the sun, sup upon the dew of morning tides and contemplate existence. They are, and will ever be that which watches the world. Personality: Hadassah is rather slow going and tends to daydream a lot. They enjoy going around and talking to all the plants and flowers that they can find, whispering sweet little encoraging words to them. They want all the flowers to grow big and strong, so that they can make the world even more beautiful. They aren't really concerned with a lot of larger things in the world. Not because the large problems aren't important, but more because they would much more prefer to just stay out of the way in their own little world. Their family is important to them, but they don't really know how to show it. They are just quiet and would prefer to just stay out of their way. They want them to be able to just go and do what they would like in their heart without anyone getting in the way. It's just easier for Hadassah.

I have finished reading through all of the entries and have chosen a winner. I loved reading everyone's entries and seeing the names and personalities you chose. Without further ado, Nyx Queen of Darkness Congrats! I really enjoyed reading about Girasol and his bees. I also liked the connections you made about him and his eye flowers.
