Valko's tail wagged furiously as he watched the eggs move and crack. Ahhhhh a beak! It scream! The other one! It stuck its leg out~! He squeezed Hatil's hand. Babies! So exciting.
The screamer continued screaming and flailing about smacking into the other one and almost pitching off the pillow. The rough movement shattered more of the egg and soon the head was sticking out of the beak hole. Unable to pull its head back in the egg the chick screamed even louder.
It was good that borkbork did not have ears or the ability to hear because he would be getting quite a headache with a screaming baby bird sitting on him.

Hatil was beaming with pride at her cute little babies and offered Valko a return-squeeze to his hand. She was truly happy that he was here to watch with her; it wouldn't have been the same without him!
In retaliation of the leg that was stuck outside of the shell, a new egg soon joined it. While this one didn't so-much scream, it got it's point across well enough with the two flailing pairs of talons to its side. After a moment, the weight of the egg shifted and sent it tilting such that the talons could grip BorkBork below.
Surely had he a sense of feeling, he would not be happy with how they grabbed him.
But that was okay, as he is only a sack of flour.
"Mama...? Nonono... I am not your mama. Nope..." How did that thing even know what a mama was? No, there was not the time right now to be having such casual thoughts as the little thing re-approached her.
Go away.
Shoo shoo.
Get the memo.
But the memo was not gotten, and as Saira took as step back and away from the dirty little chick, it wasn't quite far enough. She'd hardly taken a moment to pause and glance back at the hut that had all sorts of weird and loud noises coming from it before a different, more immediate problem had quite literally latched to her talons. Ahhhhhhh... THAT HURT WHAT THE HECK. Lifting the leg in question, she angrily flared her wings to keep her balance while trying to knock the chick off her leg.
That said, she wasn't super forceful. She wanted the chick to let go, but she didn't want to actually injure it or anything.

As hard as Saira had attempted to push the harpy chick away, the blue-pink toddler wasn't having any of it. She kept her latch onto the leg, giggling at the attempt to flail her off; more so, she thought it was a game! It was fun! More! More! Until the big blue being held her leg up, and now she was dangling upside down. Her feathers puffed out, making her genuinely look like a bowling ball with feathers. "Mama!" she chirped happily.

The chick continued to wiggle, squirms and scream. The cracks grew until at least a wet chick flopped its way out of the egg. Unable to see and being slimy and cold was awful and the baby bird did not like it one bit and continued to peep in distress as it tried to hop around. Small egg fragments where stuck to the wet downy feathers.
Valko grinned as the baby flopped out of the egg. "Hatil!" He shook her hand in excitment. One of the babies was free! and the other was feet!
Being a flour sack Borkbork had no feelings about being covered in egg shells and wet chicks.

Look! A small chick had appeared!
And it looked like Valko!
Looking back at Valko, Hatil was grinning ear-to-ear (do harpies even have ears?) with pride. "It looks like you!" she exclaimed as she squeezed his hand back. And soon enough, the second egg joined when it flopped forward and cracked open from the bottom.
Two baby chicks now were freed from their shells.
Now free from the egg, the other chick seemed to shudder as a natural breeze came through the hut. Being wet, the breeze was cold, and the other chick was naturally not happy about it. Far from happy. Cold was bad. Still very much toppled over on its belly, it tried to move around with little success.
"That hurts damn it!"
Saira wasn't generally one for using foul language, but special circumstances requires special exceptions. And this was one of them. She tried to shake it off a bit harder before wincing and accepting defeat. If she didn't stop now, she'd probably end up with scars; hell, from the small, trickling lines of blood running down her talons, it might already be too late for that.
Why the hell was this baby so strong?
For Guardians' sake...
FINE.
It would have been nice if SOMEONE had told her that baby chicks also came from the forest, not just eggs. She'd thought Hatil had been a random, one-time thing, but no. APPARENTLY tiny chicks just APPEARED in these woods. If she'd known, she could have taken precautions not to stumble upon any unwanted bird. She'd just have to stick it with Hatil's pair and be done with it. BUT NO. Now she had to deal with THIS. UGH.
Frowning, she looked straight at the chick and pointed at her, then to the patch of land next to her. "Off." She used her actually-serious voice.

Rosamin chirped, giving a blink. She looked from the big creature she dubbed 'mama' and to the patch of dirt, not entirely getting what she wanted. "Mama?" she said curiously, using her talons to move slowly up the leg, its' sharpness received by each movement until she made it to the side where she nuzzled Saira's torso. The mere warmth of the being made her all aflutter with happiness. She closed her eyes instinctively and nuzzled once more, as a form of a snuggle and a hug.

"That one you!" He said smiling as he looked at the second chick it was white and green just like Hatil! She was right the first one was all green like him!
So now what? The babies hatched and where screaming. Hmm Food? Maybe they where hungry.
Ah they should have names right? Hmmm the him baby had Hatil's cute freckles. Maybe something like that? Freckles spots, dots. Hmm he'd have to think on it more. Unless Hatil thought of a good name.
As for the other one he had not idea. Hmm what was white and green? Hatil! Yes yes Hatil Junior. Ah that might get confusing. Hmmmm hopefully hatil was better at this than him.
Contrary to valko's belief the speckled chick was not hungry. No she was cold and wet. Her limbs didnt work right so she kept squirming on the ground trying to find a warm place. Were he alive borkbork would also hope Hatil had better naming skills than Valko the one who had named the flour sack 'bork bork".

"No. Not mama. Saira."
Her eye twitched as the hatchling did the exact opposite of getting off and instead decided to climb up her side. That hurt damn it! She said get off. Ugh. You know what, whatever. WHATEVER. She was ABSOLUTELY DONE with all of this nonsense. As far as she was concerned, her disappointment was immeasurable and her day was ruined. Her eyes absentmindedly glanced back at the hut as she mused about dumping this chick over with the other two that, given the ruckus she could hear from here, was going on. She would just casually put this mangy chick with the other two and let them deal with it instead; easy enough, right?
Good enough idea as any.
With a new plan in mind, she approached the noise and walked in, but her face quickly took on a grimace at the scene before her. "Ugh... they're so gross-looking and slimy..." Did that one have pieces of shell sticking to its feathers. So gross. Frankly, the one on her wasn't much better at the moment, but at least she was dry. "Hatil." she looked over at her idiot sister and continued. "Go get a tub of water and come back."Oooooh! He was right; that one looked like her!
And their voices were so strong; they would surely be healthy birds like her one day! Look how cute they were wiggling around. So cute...
Oh Saira was here now with her chick; what took her so long? She'd opened her mouth to say something, but she was cut right off. Water? Her head tilted to the side slightly at the thought: why did she need water? Well okay then. Glancing up at Valko she gave him a thumbs up before walking back to the back entrance of the house and outside.
There were two main features behind the house: a container they used to collect rainwater and a small, yet largely neglected pond a bit further away. the container was mostly made of wood that had been smoothed down and pressed together so form a square about half Hatil's wingspan in length. Layers of dirt had been molded to the side's to help its structural integrity and to largely seal the inside contents away. the top was removable; generally they left it closed unless it was raining or they were collecting water for personal use.
This time was the latter.
Taking the lid off, Hatil walked away for a moment to pick up a rather nice tub she had recently found during one of her days exploring the woods. Or was it a... a bucket? She was pretty sure she'd heard someone call it a bucket when she was flying away. Either way, it worked really well! Collected the water and everything. She wasn't sure why something this nice was just tied up next to a big hole in the ground, but she'd have to go check it out again sometime. Maybe she'd find another!
Bucket about half-full of water, she once again closed their water reserves before returning inside. The other chick was cold and shivering and NOT HAPPY.

Rosamin chirped, flapping her wings in the breeze that came through. Though her claws were tightly attached to the side torso of Saira's body, the baby harpy was all the more happy as they traveled the short distance. From the sun to the shade, this chick was curious as to seeing others, possibly like hers. "Mama?" she chirped curiously, dangling there like a symbiote. Her feathers were completely dried by now, which showed the bright pink and blue colors, which could be spotted a mile away. At the moment, this baby chick was contented as she could be, she found her mama! Maybe mama can feed her? she wondered, her stomach growling like a thunderstorm coming through to wipe the landscape clean.

"Speckles" He suggested to Hatil as he pointed to the one that looked like him.
Then Saira had entered and told Hatil to get water. He returned Hatil's thumbs up as she left.
There was a baby clinging to Saira! "cute baby". The baby clearly had some blue feathers growing in so it must be hers.
Where had she kept the egg though? Ah probably in her sleeping space. That made sense.
How fun! her kid could grow up and play with theirs! his tail wagged at the thought.
'speckles' as she had been dubbed continued to scream because she was not happy.
Borkbork continued to remain silent and unmoving as a flour sack should.

'Not mama, Saira."
She was going to make that distinction clear from the get-go before any of the idiots around her could get the wrong idea. Hmph!
Apparently it was already too late for that.
Saira was unable to fully contain her grimace as she looked over at the well-meaning, but fully dim-witted demon her sister had brought home some seasons ago. Why was he calling this mangy thing cute? And he clearly had the wrong idea about it; it wasn't hers dammit! Guardians this was so frustrating! And could he not just shut up the other ones?! Everything was giving her a headache. Ughhhh.
Hardly a moment had passed after Hatil returned when Saira took the bucket from her and set it on a nearby desk space. Next, she walked to a cupboard space and pulled out one of the little hand soaps that was stockpiled inside - they always brought home a considerable amount from Venus Day each time they went, a habit they'd picked up from their mother. She tossed it into the bucket water to soften up before forcefully pulling Rosamin off her side and putting her in the water. Once the chick was sitting in the water, Saira picked up the soap and started to scrub the small one's feathers clean. "Go get towels." The water came up to her mid-chest when she was sitting upright; perhaps a bit high for a baby, but she couldn't be bothered to think too hard about it.
This was becoming the second-worst day of her life, second only to the day Hatil had come home.Towels, mostly of the hand-towel variety, were another thing that the birds had been bringing home from their Venus Day excursions. Their mother had been particular about keeping clean and had always kept a fair amount stored away.
Saira hadn't specified how many or what kind to get, so Hatil figured she wanted a lot. Why did she need that many? Oh well, her sister seemed to be in a bad mood, so Hatil didn't really want to get in her way right now. Might as well just go get a bunch of towels.
She walked over to Valko and reiterated what he'd said before; a point to the green baby and a nod as she repeated, "Speckles. Cute!" she then looked over at the other one and gave her own suggestion, "Mossy!" She did kinda look like moss was covering her down feathers; super cute. Taking his hand, she motioned towards the grumbling Saira and then towards where they kept their towels, then finished with a nod before pulling him over with her.Now mommy and daddy were gone and she was cold and hungry and NOT HAPPY. The crying continued as she tried to wiggle in the direction her parents were walking.

The new chick took a gander at the others, a speckled one and a mossy green one. She gave a chirp, blinking rapidly in succession afterward like she was having a seizure for the moment before leaning forward curious about the others. Rosamin, then, looked up at Saira and cocked her head. What is that weird looking thing? It's moving when it gets shaken, it is splashing. When a tiny bit of water hit her face, she started freaking out.
"MAMA! MAMA! MAMA! MAMA!" she shrieked, flapping what wings she had, gripping Saira painfully tight with her claws. She didn't like it! NO WAY! FIGHT! FIGHT! NO! she panicked internally, letting lose a screech.

Valko hummed in agreement as Hatil named the other baby. Mossy was a good name, the chick did look mossy green.
Saira's chick clearly did not want a bath as the small chick started screaming when they got wet.
Meanwhile the other two chicks where also screaming. Ah right they where hungery!
"Food!" He said to Hatil as he pointed to the babies.
Valko scooted over to where Borkbork was and picked up the chicks. He made a face when he felt that they where wet and sticky.
"Slimy" He stated as he offered one to Hatil.
Speckles let out panicked chirps as she was suddenly lifted from the ground. After a moment she realized that the thing holding her was WARM. She quickly snuggled into it while continuing to protest.
Borkbork was still covered in egg shell and baby slime, sadly there was little a flour sack could do about it.

"OUCH. THAT HURTS. Oh can it!" Saira was nearly growling as the chick freaked out over a bit of water. "I swear to the Guardian's that if you don't hush up I'm throwing you back in the woods... Or I'm gonna file those claws until they're flat..." Continuing to scrub the chick with a soap bar until all of her feathers had been fully lathered, she then began to scoop up the bucket water to rinse the soap off.
Once cleaned, she again picked up the chick and put her on one of the towels brought over by Hatil and began ruffling her in the cotton to dry her off.
Under her breath she continued to mumble angrily. "Little s**t. Cutting up my arms just because you didn't want to get wet... I swear to the Guardians... Try to do something nice and what do I get for it..."Beaming Hatil had nodded in agreement as she set a pile of towels on the counter near Saira. Speckles and Mossy, what great names for such cute chicks.
That said, it seemed like her sister was having a pretty difficult time with her own chick... That looked painful. She didn't have extra time to contemplate it further before she was being handed one of her own chicks by Valko. Ewww...~! They felt so gross! No wonder they were screaming so much, it must feel even ickier to them than they felt to her. She almost giggled at the slimy sensation.
...!
That must have been why Saira wanted the bucket! Bath time for everyone!
Lightly, playfully, bumping her shoulder into Valko, she motioned from the baby chicks to the tub. "Bath time? Let's get them clean, then food!" She didn't think they would be happy to eat if they still felt so grossThe sensation of being lifted up scared "Mossy" and she started crying anew as she went from one set of arms to another. She wanted DOWN. But being in mama's arms was warm... But she wanted DOWN.

Rosamin took to the water as if it were made of acid; she was not going down easy! Between the squawking, the defensive scratching, and then trying to attach herself to Saira again, her feathers were cleaned showing off the cotton candy blue and pink colorings. Though she looked more like a drowned rat, that is for sure. The big one was persistent in getting her clean, and she is so hungry, what second wind she had deserted her and she just let her finished cleaning her. And so... she just looked up at Saira sadly, her stomach growling like it was a growly bear while the female rolled her around in the cotton towel. "Ma-ma-ma," she whined.
