Sapphirine beamed at his reaction and shrugged. “You’ll understand when you see it. I promise. And you’ll be like, wow. Sapphirine was so right about him!” She laughed as well, pleased that she seemed to be getting along quite well with this Zinkenite. If he was powerful…well. That just worked out well for her then, didn’t it?
She could use powerful friends. It would help her in the long run.
Quietly, she listened to his thoughts on strength and leaders and for a moment, she found herself nodding. He was right. About a lot of things, and honestly? Sometimes Hau didn’t seem like he was a good leader at all. Sure she had sassed him but their first meeting he had broken her fingers without a second thought…any sane person would have left everything right then and there but…obviously she wasn’t sane.
“Sort of dating. We hook up every now and then but. I prefer to pretend that he cares more about me than I think he does. He has a constant boner for Lady Metallia, honestly. I swear if he could just…be with her I think he would be utterly blissful. Sometimes he kind of creeps me out but. What can you do?”
She flashed a grin but looked almost a little unhappy. “Sometimes I think he takes it too far. Like…people in a cult honestly. He gets a little scary when he talks about her, you know?” Why would he know. Perhaps he was the same way. Perhaps he would scold her for not having quite that same drive yet.
But she was trying…

He gave a thoughtful nod, a distracted look about the level of devotion this corrupted seemed to show. “Yes, we are all to be devoted, but, I think there are none whom will ever love her, or devote quite so well to her as someone I think you may never meet.” He murmured. “Did you ever hear, of Tanzanite?” He tipped his head. “I feel like some whom have known about her, try very hard to fill her shoes, they can’t mind you. She was something, unique.” “I think the more you see, the more...devoted you become. After all, she… they saved me once at least. But, I think people are just as capable of letting their own ego get in the way, making choices assuming that every word they speak is her will, and it’s not. But I can hardly bore you with the details of my last promotion, that would be very tedious indeed.” He sighed, and pulled down the mask that covered so much of his face to offer a smile. “I’ve no idea where the person I was last with is. I’ll have to look them up I suppose.”

She shook her head, frowning slightly. “Tanzanite? No…but Hau speaks of Alkaid? That’s who he learned his great devotion from, and she’s…ascended? So she’s very close to Lady Metallia? He dreams of doing the same but as of yet he hasn’t been able to.”
Sapphirine still hadn’t met Alkaid, and if she were being honest with herself…she wasn’t sure that she really wanted to. Sometimes Haumea really frightened her but…
“Your last promotion?” She was curious now, and the smile he gave was reassuring. “Ohh, you had someone special too? Were they with our cause? I do hope that you say yes, Zinkenite or I’ll have a much lower opinion of you!”
Laughing, She tossed back her sheet of long black hair and sat down for a moment, stretching. “But, if you want storytime about your last promotion, I am all ears. I think storytime is my favorite time. I love learning more about what we are.”

“Alkaid, is indeed as close to Metalia as any senshi could ever hope to be, though that means hers is a perspective on devotion that I shall never personally have, not being a senshi.” “I had someone, and yes, they were on our side, I don’t make it a habit of romancing the side of order not to worry. Actually, it was my relationship with an officer that led to my recruitment.” He shrugged. “Though I was unaware of him being an officer mind you.” He tipped his head slightly, recalling how it had all begun. How very simple and at times silly it had seemed. “As for… my promotion, it’s, it’s not nearly an interesting story.” he waved his hand “Simply, there was a disagreement before it between, two important people, both of whom I reported to before that day. He huffed. “Truth be told, I consider myself fairly dull, I was part of the information branch before.”

Sapphirine’s head tilted in some confusion and she nodded slowly. So…senshi could be devoted differently to Metallia than…not senshi could? That was interesting, but…perhaps that would be a question for Haumea the next time they spoke.
“So…you just have to find your someone again, hm? Perhaps I could help you, if you wanted. You know I’m pretty…” She paused and shrugged. “Well actually I don’t know anyone really in our ranks, but I’m more than willing to help you anyway. I’m sure that there’s a prince charming out there for you, even if you can’t find your old flame.”
The corrupt hadn’t missed the pronoun and she grinned at him. “What’s your type? We can go looking for attractive menfolk someday and go out for lunch. It might be fun.”
She had to admit that she was at least a little disappointed that he didn’t seem to be very willing to tell her the story of his promotion, but perhaps…she just had to get to know him better.
“That doesn’t sound too dull to me. I don’t think I’m a part of any branch. In fact, I’m not quite sure what the branches even are, so you’re still better off than I am, Zinkenite.”

“You aren’t by any means obligated to choose a specialty, I wouldn’t rush in to one honestly.” He offered holding up a hand. “You may find as you grow, that you’re drawn more in one direction or another. But when I left, the branches were Information, ah… Special Ops, and, Infiltration. Though to get a better description of each I’d speak to someone who works, currently in each area. With the right connections they might allow you to shadow them if they have a mission. It would be good experience I imagine.” “I… am aware things have changed since I was last, active. So I am unfortunately, not the best person to speak to regarding any given branch.” He added holding up a hand. He gave a soft laugh then, thinking on her offer to basically, set him up. “Well, I appreciate the offer, but I seem to find attraction, where I least expect it. So, rather than put you out, or have you frustrated with my, rather sound lack of spontaneity when I can avoid it, I’ll let you off the hook for that particular offer.” He gave another flash of the smile. “So… about helping me with that violin.”

She nodded, thoughtful but happy he wasn’t going to push her…not that she really even knew the branches anyway or what they did…but maybe now she would work on finding out.
“The branches sound kind of exciting though. You get to work closer with other people, yeah? I know Haumea kind of keeps me away from everyone, and I don’t really mind. But sometimes I still just have trouble figuring out what’s actually going on, you know?”
But maybe with this Zinkenite as her ally and another mentor…perhaps she would be able to get a better grasp on things.
Sapphirine laughed at his delicate refusal for her to be his wingman and she shrugged. “Well, don’t say I didn’t offer. If you change your mind, I’ll still be here, I hope you know.” Grinning, she nodded eagerly, encouraged by his smile. “We’ll make a party of it.” She glanced around, and then let her henshin drop, leaving a rather ordinary looking, but very well dressed young woman in her wake.
Holding out a hand she grinned again. “Kalina Xantho, at your service.” There was pens and paper in her purse, she could give him her address.
“Perhaps when we’ve got you back to playing where you were, you and I could work something out? Small concerts seem as though they would be a great way to gather energy if we planned it right…perhaps?”
…It sounded like a good idea to her, at least.

He offered a hand in return, metal though it was, carefully clasping her own. “A pleasure to meet you Kalina. My name is Zac when I’m not in uniform. Though I’ll be perfectly honest I prefer being in uniform.” He smiled. “Concerts, do sound like a rather … amusing way to do things, I’ll take you up on that perhaps.” He nodded. “And, I promise to let you know if I need anyone out there trying to… find me a partner.” He added amused. He was not likely to seek assistance, he wasn’t entirely sure he’d be looking. “Please, seek me out as well if you find yourself a calling, and you have trouble gaining permission to follow up on it.” He was trying to be diplomatic, but there was absolutely something that bothered him about Haumea

Kalina grinned, seeming excited. “All right then. A concert for you and me to show off, and possible future me trying to set you up on dates. It sounds like you and me have a glorious friendship ahead of us, and I’m excited to see what happens.”
She finally drew out the piece of paper, scribbling her address and phone number onto it and handed it to the General King. “Call me soon, okay? The sooner we get you used to the hand, the easier I think it will be to get the hang of playing again. I’d hate for you to lose your music!”
She’d hate for anyone to lose their music. It was a terrible thought and as her eyes flickered to his hand, she wondered for a moment about how it happened…and wondered how she could stop it from ever happening to herself.
As for finding him someone nice to date…she’d figure something out eventually. At least she would try. But she’d be subtle about it. She’d be cool.
He seemed like he was going to be a good friend. “I will. I think I’d like to hang out with you a lot more. I think you can really help me reach whatever my potential might be. And I like the sound of that, but for now, I’ll talk to you later!”
The girl waved and turned away, her hair swinging around and almost hitting her in the face, causing a laugh to escape.
It wasn’t long before she had all but disappeared from sight, quite happy with how today had gone, even if she didn’t have any energy or starseeds to show for it.
