"My apologies," she looked back once more before, unable to keep the traces of a smile from turning thecorners of her mouth upwards. There was a considerable amount of pride in her words as she spoke, along with a fair dose of something else. "General Uvarovite, currently serving under the Information Branch and General King Axinite as well. His specializations lie more in research, however -- his current area of focus is youma, actually."

She left off that the nature of their relationship was more than 'co-workers' and that while he had been a lower ranking officer than her at one point he had never been her subordinate. She didn't mention that Uvarovite was one of the things keeping her on the right side of sanity on most days. That last part wasn't something that anyone would find in her file, and she preferred to keep it on a 'need to know'.

"I appreciate the desire to speak where there aren't eyes or ears, but I've... Been burned by discussing civilian life while powered; letting one life bleed into the other. There's too much at stake to talk shop plainly while powered down."

"If it has been dealt with it was not by my hand. It-- It was in my best interest to cease hunting for him personally. I was not in the best of places for a time." It was not information that she wished to divulge, but she'd not yet reached a point in her Negaverse career where she could have certain details about her life expunged from her service records. One day, perhaps, but until then she could offer a bit of honesty and maybe that would keep the General King from flipping through her file himself.

"It shouldn't be much further to the Hall of Shadows," she murmured as a change of subject. She never wandered too far into the Rift herself. Even with Macsen by her side, there was always an underlying concern that she might not be able to find her way back.

"Given how expansive it is? It would not be a bad idea at all. It is most certainly something that General Uvarovite would be interested in, in the event idle conversation about such a thing becomes a project that the Negaverse deems worth investing time in." If there were markers and save points would it be worth dragging someone down here and loosing them, though? Training ventures 'gone wrong'? Any number of things...

She resisted the urge to start clicking her claws together as they walked. It would've been far too easy to keep her focus steady by tapping her fingers -- thumb, forefinger, thumb, middle, thumb, ring and so on until her skin stopped crawling with the feel of Chaos all around them. Tourmaline stepped up her pace when they reached the hall of shadows, only looking back to make certain that the General King had followed suit once she could do so without concern that something else might be watching her through the walls.

"Sometimes I think they want us to come through this hall to get to the Rift, though -- serves as a reminder of what we can become if we loose too much of ourselves."
