Noah didn’t seem to comprehend what Paian was saying. Dea had lost a kid? But she hadn’t been pregnant! He’d have known. He never would’ve left her, had she been. He tried to squirm away, narrowing his eyes at the humanoid-tree figure.
“Now I know this is a trick,” he said, icily. “You won’t make me your plaything again, Rocket.”

"What in the world are you babbling about, I am not some damn member of Team Rocket. I have no love for the team that kidnapped my family and tried to hurt my trainer. She has enough trouble with her health, let alone having to deal with these idiots,"he growled.
"Forgive him, Eilam and Lucy had been taken for a bit. We got them out, but it hadn't been easy. That and Dea thinking Kidd was her husband, so when they assigned him far away, it was a lot for her,"Kimi explained calmly.

Noah had trouble focusing on Kimi. Her words were there, but they were muted. He could see her lips moving, he knew she was speaking to him, but it was like it was a completely different language. “Dea’s safe?” He wanted to know. Was his wife alright? When could he go to her?
“Home?”

"Yes, none of us would let anything happen to her, you know that. She is safe at home, recovering being in her wheelchair again. Her illness crept up on us and caused a bit of trouble,"Paian spoke. Once Kimi had the last lock, he picked up the man from the ground.

Paian picking Noah up was not well received. The man fought, pressing his hand against Paian’s chest to put distance between them. “No,” he said. “I want to go home. Home! I want to see Dea.” His wife... she was ill again? He’d known her since he was a toddler, but their parents had known each other even longer. It had taken some time for him to finally drum up the courage to admit he loved her.
He wanted some of that courage now.

"Stop fighting me and listen, before you make a fool of yourself. You are in no condition to get home all by yourself. I am taking you there, we have one of our cars with us. However, you must remember, she thinks another is her husband,"he reminded firmly.

Noah didn’t stop fighting. Paian’s words only seemed to make it worse. No, no, he was Dea’s husband. Had she fallen for someone else? He’d loved her as long as he could remember, almost as long as he’d known her. There couldn’t be anyone else.
“He won’t understand,” said a voice, Timmy was climbing down a nearby tree. “He looks mostly dead,” he observed, and then studied Paian. “You we’re gone so long, Momma sent me looking. I figured I’d play lookout. But...are you sure you can treat him, Paian?” He looked over Noah. The man was painfully thin. His brown red hair was greasy and knotted, he had stubble on his chin and cheeks. “Let’s take him the hospital.”
Noah didn’t react well to the stranger. He tried to squirm out of Paian’s hold. “No hospital,” he protested.

Paian was just about to try to get through Noah's thick head, since Kidd acting as Dea's husband had been part of the plan. However, he was stopped by the voice of Timmy and he looked over to see his brother there. It seemed Dea had been worried, appropriately, and sent him to check on them.
"Yes, I am sure I can treat him, Timmy. You forget, that is why I went to school, to be a doctor. I can have some of my nurses come over to help me, he is too skittish to go to a hospital. I need to make sure he gets proper nutrients and cleaned up. I just do not know how we are going to explain this to Dea, we made it where her memories were changed,"Paian replied.

“Is he insane?” Timmy asked, quietly. “Sometimes people are tortured into insanity...” He reached and felt Noah’s forehead with a hand, and pulled back, startled when the man glares at him.
“I’m not crazy,” Noah said, glaring. “I want to see my wife!”
“Can’t we change Momma’s memory back? Are you sure this is the real guy?” Timmy had never met Noah. He looked over the man skeptically. “I thought you said he was dead.”
Why was everyone saying that? He had never been dead. “I’m not dead,” Noah said. He almost wished he was. He was so confused, and he hurt so much.

"He is definitely at least confused and not fully remembering all we had discussed before he left. And we thought he was, someone said they thought they had seen him be killed..but I guess they were mistaken. I am sure this is the man, the one Dea has known since she was younger. And I believe Dea's memories can be triggered again, but it will take time,"Paian replied to Timmy.
"Noah, we can see you are not dead. And please, do not growl at Timmy, he is family,"Kimi spoke gently.

“How long?” Timmy fretted. He looked to Noah and Kimi. The man had managed to detach himself from Paian and made his way to Kimi. “Paian...” he began, awkwardly. “I don’t know if we should bring him to the house. What if he hurts Momma?”
Noah clung to Kimi, muttering about how he missed Dea and needed to see her. “Want my wife...”

"I don't know, anything could trigger the memories, so I can only watch. And we can't leave him here, he has to be somewhere safe. Maybe we could take him to the hotel,"he mused.
"I know you miss her, but she isn't feeling well. You don't want to get sick, do you?"Kimi asked.

Timmy didn’t really trust Noah. He’d never met the man. He’d only heard of Kidd, and when Noah had been mentioned, it’d been brief, almost secret. How did they know this wasn’t an elaborate trick to get to Dea? Using her long lost husband seemed like an easy way to get to her.
Noah hesitated. “No,” he said at last. “I want to see Dea. Please, Kimi. Squirt won’t let me, you’ve got to!”

"Paian didn't say that you couldn't see Dea, he is just bracing you for what is to come. He knows that she won't know who you are, that could hurt both of you. That is all he is trying to do,"she assured.
