Winston Fairchild

Now while he was certain that the convention might not have exactly what he was looking for, (namely, rare cards to expand his yu-gi-oh deck), he was certain it would have 'swag' as the americans called it. Free merch, and possibly contests to win other free things that while he had no need for them, filled some kind of gremlin instinct to collect. Free was a lucrative word for people who loved something and if anything? Winston loved memes and most card games. They might have a mobile card game that doubtlessly he'd blow his money on if given half the chance.

Stalking around some of the booths, he was quick to pocket cards and on some, the various promotional buttons. Not that like other free items he liked or needed them but- it was that convention craze to collect that drove him really. It was strange that way. Eyes seeking more booths with free gear, he stopped when he noticed a woman with... was that...

"Uh." He approached, eyeballing a particular pin on her person. Then, he noticed, in his fixation on the rare, limited edition early bid pin from last year'
s convention, he'd also approached a booth and might just be interrupting.
"Oh." He looked to the booth to find a good cover up to hide the fact he was hoping to make an offer on a freaking convention collectable pin. "I hope I wasn't in-tea-rupting you both."

He even made sure not to cover up the British accent. Girls always dug the accent right?
Well, american girls at any rate. Welsh girls? Yeash!

Sunny Dyer

It took Sunny a second to turn to the other girl, a little lost in her own thoughts of could-have-been and should-have-been, but she offered a half-hearted smile nonetheless. "Oh -- well, I don't think anyone can see everything, but...it's an easy way to strike up a conversation, and media as a field is all about making connections, right? Not that I'm really aiming to make any connections, but it's con habit, and it's a little hard to drop even when I'm not here for that." A niggling kernel of thought: there were still the few dedicated subscribers she had, five bucks a month from them each, and she still felt too guilty to convey no, the stream will continue to not happen, and in fact it probably won't ever happen, you should probably save your money when she was using that money mostly for low-quality takeout. "Are you with a booth?"

Winston was lucky that the pin he was eyeballing was at hip-level, or Sunny would have had some unverbalized thoughts she would have let fester for a few hours; as it was, she just smiled at him too, only hand shoved in a back pocket. "No, it's fine, you're not interrupting!"

Stormy Ortega

Oh thank God, she was a talker. That made things easier. "Mhmm. It's this cute tea shop-bakery hybrid," Stormy started to say, patting at her apron where the logo was, when what looked like a modern vampire stepped in.

With an accent.

You know what? Maybe being lost in a sea of strangers wasn't so bad after all. Sure he wasn't a small blond Londoner or anything but he did use a pun--

He seemed to be staring at something on her conversational partner. Maybe something about a video game he liked? Or he was one of those guys who didn't quite understand what a socially acceptable behavior was. At least he didn't smell.

"Nothing so tea-rrible," Stormy replied, hoping they could both carry a conversation for her.

Vivi Beeson

Vivi got up early today. Why? Because it was convention day of course! Though normally shed be up early on this day anyway, it was family outing day after all, but she had managed to persuade her family to leave without her, just this once, and promising to have a sisters day with Abby come next weekend. Not a bad exchange in her opinion.

She had her parents drop her off, and intended to take an uber back home when she was ready to leave, and made her way to the entrance, purchasing her ticket and entering to the main hall. She looked to the convention pamphlet given to her, seeing what was where and deciding what to do first.

Eventually, she decided on the Exhibition hall, in the mood to see if anything being sold was from one of the series she liked, and also to kill time before panels began.

Rory Willows

She was being a helicopter friend and she knew it, but it didn't stop Rory from purchasing tickets to the convention. She had thought about asking Akio to attend with her, but then thought better of it considering she was using this as an excuse to check in on her friend.

Since the corruption she had been dedicating most of her free time to her companion, making sure he was settled and cared for.

It seemed selfless in nature but largely she was selfish, because she was so terrified that he would forget or leave her and she couldn't risk losing another treasured friend.

Her heart couldn't take it.

So, she'd made it into the convention with Reven in tow, nestled in her back back with something hide her star so that they weren't immediately recognized.

Winston Fairchild

He tried, he genuinely tried to pay attention to the girls, but his eyes kept going to the pin. Flicking between them both was rude, and slightly odd he knew, but, he just wasn't sure how to bring it up. He'd just- he'd have to stop. Pay attention.
"Sorry, I thought I saw something familiar is all." Play it cool. Bring it up later. Maybe he'd not seem so off for desiring something as inane as a damn collectable pin.

"And how tea-ribly rude of me. I'm new to Destiny City so I thought this would be a fun venture. Is this common though? Conventions like this I mean. Back home there are few and usually just things with multi-corporate entities. Less. Cozy and local like this is."

Reven

There was the sound of paws rubbing on canvas before the zipper at the top of the backpack split wide enough for Reven to push her face through, squinting into the bright overhead florescence before wiggling her shoulders and paws out as well. "It's stuffy in there," she whined softly as she leaned in to rest her chin on Rory's shoulder.

When Rory had mentioned her intentions to check in on Otto at the convention the kitten had leaped at the chance to attend as well. Or Demanded. Or howled until she wore her poor human into compliance. Regardless, she'd refused to miss the chance, because how often did gaming conventions spring up in their dumb city?

Not that often.

"Do you know where he is?" Bright blues rolled up to look sidelong at Rory's profile before flicking back out, hungrily drinking in the decor and cosplays. Ugh, I wish I had thumbs. She wanted to play all of it. She wanted to be in the gaming room showing these losers what was up.

Instead, at least for the moment, she was riding in a backpack with an Overwatch sticker hiding her star. Well, she was here at least.

Rory Willows

"I'll let you out proper in a minute," Rory replied, voice low as to not draw attention to the fact that she was effectively smuggling in a cat to the convention. In her defense, there was no rule saying she couldn't bring a pet, it was probably just frowned upon.

It didn't matter, they'd made it into the convention and she wasn't going to worry too much about what might happen if they were caught. Maybe Mr. Black would be able to get staff to make an exception for her, not that she'd ask or was planning to but it was a nice contingency thought.

"Uh," she pulled out the crumpled map she'd shoved into the pocket of her sweater, smoothed it out and squinted at the paper. "I think he's working security and um, scheduling." Teeth chewed on her bottom lip while jade eyes skimmed the paper. "Probably gonna be around the main girl, Ally A?"

At least she thought that had been what they'd discussed. She probably should have texted him, but she felt silly enough about the fact she was fretting so badly she had to show up at the convention to make sure everything was okay.

She was over reacting, completely, and she knew it.

Still, it didn't stop her.

"Probably with the panelists." Her nose wrinkled when she looked over at the gaming hall section. "I think we just missed the first panel, I don't want to interrupt but.." Rory trailed off, trying to decide what she was going to do. "How about we go look at the game thing first, hm?"

Maybe it'd calm her nerves.

Sunny Dyer
"That sounds incredible," Sunny sighed wistfully, but her hand fidgeted with the strap of her bag -- it wasn't all comfortable, having two people talking at her, even if at least one of them seemed shy; she'd taken so much time being talked at by practically nobody that nowadays it felt too strange to clarify. Winston did get a brief narrowing of the eyes -- his flickering gaze was noticed but not particularly appreciated -- but she said nothing about it, because that would be inviting trouble, and she never wanted that.

"I'm sure we have plenty of business conventions, but I've never been to one so I wouldn't know -- there's plenty of smaller media-focused cons throughout the year, though, but they're also not normally sponsored by one company the way this one is? And then you have weekend-long meetups, but those aren't cons inasmuch as they are huddles with a common interest."

Stormy Ortega

Either picking up on Sunny's discomfort or feeling a little weirded out herself at those glances, Stormy took a subtle step closer to the girl. That was the thing about girls: you have to show solidarity, even with strangers. Or at least, she felt she needed to. Who else would?

"Um, welcome, then!" she said cheerfully to the totally not a vampire from Transylvania coming to the south for the summer. "I don't go to a lot of cons, but they're scattered throughout the year. For the, uh, gaming and anime side, I mean. But also media too, like she said."

Used to walking on eggshells, it took some courage for Stormy to then ask, "Were you looking for something?" Minus eye contact, hands folded before her.

Reven

The kitten shifted again to lay her paws on Rory's shoulders, ears perked as she stared down at the map the teen had pulled from her pocket and unfolded. On paper the convention center didn't look as large as it felt standing in the middle of it. Reven flicked blue-green eyes up and out into the crowded room again before dropping them back to the map.

"He's going to be okay, you know." She'd been fretting for days. No, weeks at this point. Even before going through with the plan to bring the former knight over to their side.

Even with reassurances the kitten knew her girl would continue to worry. She wondered what Rory was going to do when Otto started going out energy gathering. Maybe Reven could offer to help keep an eye on him for her.

But that was worry for later. Rory had said the magic word and Reven was lifting her head as the the subtle tips of her claws tickled against the teen's shoulders. "Oh, ******** yes, lets go!" It was the part of the convention the kitten was most eager to see.

Katie Catigern

"Okay, but I am a stately individual, and I'm not gonna be rushed by some living embodiment of a Sequoia," Katie countered, though she was still jogging as she followed behind on the taller boy's heels. Of course she was going to go to a media convention--she had to be up to date on all the latest trends, and there were a couple of youtube stars here, for sure--and the people watching was going to be insane. Had she thought about it, she might have tried to sign up for a panel of her own, to promote her social brand, but Katie hadn't much been in the mindset to schmooze and promote lately. She had a secret identity, and a job, and with all that heavy s**t weighing her down, Katie's top priorities for the summer had been #goodvibesonly--smashing monsters and looking at pretty women.

And just her luck, there was Sophia. Lovely, lovely Sophia. Katie's heart sang.

"Pretty lady, what's up?????" Katie crooned to the purple-haired coquette, going in for a bear hug. "I feel like I haven't seen you in forever, how've you been?" She knew in her heart that deep down, Sophie didn't, y'know, speak the Sapphic language, but it was fun to imagine them as a beautiful lesbian PB & J.

Winston Fairchild

He nodded politely at the answer about conventions. Perhaps he'd simply have too keep a better ear out for these events. "I'm enjoying this convention at least. Though, I.. must admit it does lack a few things. Like decent food for one. And it's so overpriced- but, I've come to realize most events are like that here. I made this same mistake when I went to a ah.. rodeo. Very interesting."

As the two women began to shift away he realized he was going to lose his chance.
"Alright. Fine, I admit, I have absolutely zero interest in most of the things here. What I am interested in is that pin." He pointed to the one he'd noticed before.
"I collect them and the more elusive, the better."

Rory Willows

"I know," she sighed, trying not to let her shoulders sag too much with the admission.

Rory was fully aware that she was over reacting but it was hard to turn it off after everything she'd been through in the last year and some change. "I don't have a lot of people." The anymore was left off of her sentence. "He's important."

Had she said that already? Probably.

Luckily, offering to take her cat to the game corner was enough of a distraction and she was grateful to focus on something else. She could fret and worry about Otto later. She'd give just about anything to be distracted by something else.

"Language," she scolded automatically, turning her cheek so that she could show the kitten how disappointed she was in her word usage.

"I don't even know where you learn those words." She didn't use them after all.

Reven

The kitten bumped the top of her head against Rory's cheek, grinning with excitement despite the chastising. "Girl, I came with that vocabulary built in." A snort, the flick of pale ears as Reven scanned the hall for any sign of the game room. "Why you trying to change me?"

It'd been a point of disagreement between them from the start. Reven frankly though she'd been doing a damn good time with toning down the swearing around her girl. The occasional slip up should be excused.

Or so she thought.

"Come on come on, let's go." The tips of her claws tickled against Rory's shoulder again as back feet slid against the inside of the backpack. "We can get in a couple of rounds before Otto's freed up from babysitting the princess. Let's goooo!" This might be the only chance she got to do this for a while, and she was not missing this golden opportunity.
