She shrugged a bit, "It is when you've got the skill to make something valuable. For now, I'm just working on beads. Really only becomes interesting for those who want to look a little flashier..."
Others, masters, had perfected arts for making amulets, and some even had learned to stain the glass to let different colored light in. Balhira wasn't sure what she would do, but for now she was content in the minute details and learning the techniques from those around her. Pausing in her thoughts, she glanced at the green crystal that Kaimi pulled out, narrowing her eyes and peering closer. They took time to examine each other's work, and she hummed in agreement. They were so similar, and yet so different. She wondered if she could someday make glass to look like a crystal, and even confuse the most skilled at studying the rocks.
As he turned away, she blinked and did the same, humming again before drifting close to start bartering for a price. It was worth understanding the cost before she even picked out a meal, and she wanted to make sure she didn't lose too much of her work, so she had something to go home to.
"Any recommendations, Kaimi?"

Kaimi turned to look over at Balhira as she asked him about recommendations, "Ahh... let's see. These here are really good, they are different sorts of tubers that can be made into a tasty treat with a bit of effort. Over here are various edible seeds that can be really good and give you a lot of energy. The berries are really nice! They come wrapped in leaves to keep them from scattering and floating away. The seeds and berries both can be a little messy to eat if you're not careful but definitely worth the work."
He continued to look then pointed, "That stuff is really nice too. It's a sort of moss that grows on rocks where the sun can hit it. It's one of my favorites, as are these leafy plants." He loved buying edible plants because one could get a lot in exchange for a the crystals he traded with. Less so when one was trading for meat. As such he'd sort of gotten an affinity to plants because he liked a good deal, not that he wanted to admit to being cheap for anything.
After getting a bit of everything he'd mention he then traded off one of the smaller crystals he carried, tucking away the various vegetables, and the small leafy packages the seeds and berries were held in, "We can find a place to settle down and you can try any of what I got if you like? Unless you're already sure about what you want to trade for?" He'd rather let her try out what he'd bought first so she didn't have to waste any of her pretty beads.

She eyed the berries, her eyes growing a little wide as she blinked a few times. Berries were rare for most, because to get to the bushes you had to travel a ways out of the marsh. She never had the luxury of getting out to gather some, and was quite fascinated with the berries. She nodded when the merchant turned to her, pointing at the berries as her eyes sparkled slightly at the prospect. She had spaced out the rest of what Kaimi said, so her cache was just a bundle of berries in exchange for a few bright beads. Turning to Kaimi, she blushed a bit at his question, and the fact she ignored him, before shaking her head, "Oh, no, I've got what I want..."
She looked around before nodding to where some large trees had fallen over, "How about over there?" It was simple, a bit out of the way of the bustle, but they could also keep talking and people watching if they wanted. Because they were so close to the border, they were a few brightly colored Pale'iko around, and Balhira had grown interested in observing them from afar.

Kaimi gave a smile and said, "Alright, if you're certain." He was glad to hear that she was able to find something that she was wanting to get for herself. He turned to thank the merchant for everything before giving Balhira a smile. Now that they had done their trading, and there he had some food to cover a few meals. This meant that he'd be able to go out digging for a while, which would be nice.
As she pointed to some fallen trees he gave a nod, "Looks like a good place to take our breakfast." After that he'd have to see about getting to work. For the time being though he was actually having fun with this bit of an unannounced and unexpected break. It was something that he really should do more he thought to himself, giving a smile.

Balhira nodded, letting Kaimi say everything as she looked down and the berries in her hand. This was quite the treat, and she would need to make sure to thank Kaimi for running into her and recommending the place. But first, she wanted to enjoy the rare treat she was able to have, and so she swam over to their perch and settled in. It was nice to have someone calm around as a companion, and maybe she would let him know where to find her if she was ever on her side of the marsh. It would be cool to see what new things he would find in his travels, and maybe she could even trade her beads with him.
Returning his smile, she dug in and let out a pleased hum, oh yes, this was a fine meal indeed.
