"No, it's not the main reason. I really do wanna spend the rest of my life with him," Chariklo said soothingly. "We complement each other. And he's not afraid to sit on me if I'm acting like an unreasonable brat. Which I kind of am a lot of the time."
Chariklo laughed, eyes twinkling. It was clear enough that she enjoyed having someone who wasn't afraid to stand up to her and who was more than willing to go toe to toe with her. Then, as if thinking of something, she laughed again and pointed to a spot on her chest where a faint, white scar pattern could be seen.
"Besides, I've learned my lesson on grand gestures just for the sake of grand gestures. I think the laser removal hurt more than when the actual tattoo had been done."

A tattoo. A forbidden fruit! In her mind, Auriga sometimes imagined covering herself in ink, but in her heart, she knew she would probably end up with a painful experience getting a wrist tattoo of some kanji at best. "What was the tattoo?" she asked, tilting her head to one side. Don't get her wrong -- the Senshi of Pestilence had met adults, plenty of them. But Chariklo was maybe, other than Ganymede and Gunn, one of the most Adult (capital A) senshi she had ever met. Her desire to impress and learn more about her was strong.

Oh lord, how to describe a nerd tattoo to someone who might not understand the nerdery? Chariklo scraped up her recollections of the design along with how excited she'd been to get matching ink with Ava. So excited that she'd allowed Ava to select the design.
What a ******** joke it had all been after all.
"Okay, so it was a design I let my ex girlfriend pick out and she was a huge Doctor Who fan. It was the Gallifreyan symbol that meant 'You can't take the sky from me'. I think. It's a little hard to remember the exact meaning. I mean, it's been a few years since I had gotten it done."
Laughing a little ruefully, she shook her head at the fuzzy memories.
"So hey, there's a moral for you. Don't get regrettable tattoos involving SOs. If there's a bad breakup, you aren't going to want those times embedded in your skin. I'll just stick with my random rainbows and waves and s**t," Chariklo said slowly. Then, "What about you? You got any ink or piercings under those mummy wraps?"

Auriga knew what Doctor Who was, knew people loved it, knew she should say, "The 10th Doctor is my Doctor!" if she wanted to fit in, but had never actually seen it. "Oh yeah, that show is great," she said, believing it. It probably was! The girl nodded along with the advice, though she wasn't sure she needed to hear it. Auriga was more like to get a matching tattoo with a significant other and then back out on the deal while the partner went ahead. Whoops. Picking at the wrappings, she shook her head. "No, no tattoos. I have my ears pierced. I'm thinking of getting a second one done." Was that tough? Did that make her sound worldly? She certainly hoped so. "Truth be told, I have been away for awhile. Is there any senshi business for me to catch up on? Last I was around, we went to the Moon to talk about establishing patrols and small courts, fortify our forces and all that. I want to get back to business, helping the cause." Auriga made a mental note to get back into the training exercises Gunn had shown her.

Chuckling, Chariklo rooted through the bag of food and tossed another eggroll towards Auriga. She could definitely buy more later. Or... she could always just tell Cuan and Angus that she'd been mugged by professional eggroll ninjas.
"Piercing my ears was my damn gateway drug into the world of inks and piercings with funny names," she laughed outright, clearly pleased. "And if getting a second piercing is something you want, go for it! Yolo and all that insane young'un slang, right?"
Her stream of potential sass was cut off at the metaphorical knees at her companion's next words. She'd been to the moon?!? Senshi could get to the mother ******** MOON? Certainly, no one had ever shared that little snippet of information with her before!
"Okay, a bunch of senshi going to the moon is definitely a new one on me. So that either happened before I purified or when I was on my streak of hardcore self destruction," Chariklo paused, thinking hard. "Were you part of the group that invaded the Negaverse's place? I wanted to go, but my guy and cat both deemed me too drunk to function in a battle environment. Given how bad of a mental place I was in at the same, can't say I blame them. Still."
Chariklo sighed a little. She'd only heard the tiniest of snippets about that battle. Most recently had been the news of the crystal dude leaving DC.

Auriga had hoped that Chariklo could share information with her, but when the older, stronger, purified senshi perked up at the mention of the moon, the Senshi of Pestilence swelled with pride and her chest puffed ever-so-slightly with an air of superiority. "Oh, you haven't?" she said lightly, riding some kind of drug high (not that Auriga had any idea what that would feel like). It had been years ago, before she moved away, and she was happy to impart knowledge. "Well, we received summons to come participate in a summit," she began, using summit because it sounded like she was a UN ambassador, "called Black Watch, and there were guardian cats who shuttled us to the moon. A guardian cat, Ash, did something to my senshi phone so now it has a button to travel to the moon." She popped it open to show Chariklo briefly and then took it back to start scrolling through a note in her phone. "All kinds of people were there, let me see -- Ganymede, Valhalla -- I love them -- Oberon, Thraen, Cybele, Kelper, Amphitrite, Eris, Hvergelmir, Faust, Snowball, Athene, Ashur -- wow, I should have alphabetized this -- Bifrost, Niflhel, Vulcan, Horatio -- that one, a super cute guardian cat -- Midas, Penthesilea, Ida, Megrez, Skadi, Mimisbrunnr, Irene, Kallichore, Liryn... and that's it!" Remembering it now gave Auriga an odd feeling. When she was there, she thought that she was on her way to becoming a Known Senshi in DC who would make a difference. But it wasn't long after that that she moved away, too far to be of help. Come to think of it... what had happened to Black Watch? "Anyway, it was about forming more organized structures to support one another and to coordinate our efforts. So if a new senshi had nowhere to stay, a member of the Watch would take them in, and if someone needed help doing something on their home planet, one of us would volunteer. Honestly, I'm not sure what came of it... I left the city not long after." Oh god, would they be mad at her? She for sure hadn't tithed in years. It was another thing she added to the list of questions she should ask Valhalla or Ganymede, if she was able to catch up with them at some point. Auriga had no idea what Negaverse thing Chariklo was talking about so she shrugged that off.

Eyes twinkling with amusement, Chariklo shook her head. "I really haven't. Never even knew it was a possibility. Though," she thumbed at the home button on her own phone. "I guess I should have asked Liryn a lot more questions when he gave me this. Especially as there's a moon icon on there."
She listened intently and with great curiosity as Auriga explained the Black Watch. And as she listened to the other senshi rattle off names, some familiar, some not, she thought that she'd been really... well, bad at keeping in touch with the people who mattered to her. Though, it sounded like this was something that had been put in place long before she'd purified. Auriga had mentioned Liryn and Ida. And she'd stayed with Ida shortly after leaving the Court... had she been a recipient of Black Watch's hospitality? It seemed like it.
"I think your Black Watch might still be kicking. Right after I purified, Ida let me stay with her to get my bearings and Liryn was with her. They helped me out a lot. So did Babylon. But it sounds like he might not've been part of this summit y'all had."
She went quiet for a moment, thinking of all the people, all the friends that she had effectively shut out and lost touch with. She had some amending to do. Then she heard Auriga's last words and reached out to give the other girl a comforting squeeze on the shoulder.
"Sounds like we both fell out of the loop to some degree."

Black Watch was still going? The idea prickled inspiration in Auriga. Though she had aspirations to kick a** like Gunn, she also believed fully in the mission of Black Watch, of taking care of people who needed it, and -- let's be real -- even if Auriga might prefer being the Senshi Kim Kardashian, she would totally be the Senshi Mother Teresa too. "Yeah," the younger senshi said idly, picking at one of the wrapped bandages on her arm, "I should try to reconnect with some of them." A breeze whipped across the rooftop ruffling loose strands of brown hair as a moment of silence passed. A sudden buzz snapped Auriga out of it. She picked up her senshi phone and saw a timer going off. "Oh, time's up! I've got to get home." A senshi with a curfew, she was. Mostly. It was better not to be so mysterious that too many questions were asked, lest she be shipped away again. Auriga stood, stuffing trash back into the bag. "I may have others to reconnect with, but it was really nice getting to see you back in the White Moon. Good luck -- like, seriously, so much luck -- in your love life! Keep me updated!" DaisyMilk Wrap? Feel free to write Auriga darting away after the goodbye!

Chariklo wanted to gently nudge the other senshi into finding those old friends of hers. Certainly, it was obvious that Auriga had missed them. But Chariklo had learned enough in the last few years to know that gentle nudges and heavy hints weren't always necessary. Auriga would do what she needed to do when she needed to do it. Simple as that.
Instead, she smiled. And then jumped as Auriga stood and talked about going home. Had they been talking that long? The small pile of trash and empty eggroll bag seemed to indicate it was so.
"Hey, no worries. I probably should be heading that way too," Chariklo laughed easily. Home sounded amazing after having been away for as long as she had.
Then, with another chuckle, Chariklo reached out and gently booped Auriga's nose.
"Thanks for not making me hurl this time, honey. It was great talking with you too and I will! Now scoot! I got cleanup," she mock scolded, taking the trash from the other girl and flapping her hands in a shoo-ing motion. Then, in a soft voice as Auriga darted off, she murmured, "Home beckons. Stay safe, y'sassy little brat."
