Man, what a day! Dione hadn't socialized much the entire time she'd been at the fair. Oops. She was usually the sort, but maybe she had just focused so much on the games... Kind of sad, in hindsight. This was the place to meet people! Talk up, group up, do things together. Versus on her own. But maybe that was adulthood, trying to navigate that space and all. Di sat down on a bench. She had plenty of wins. Small, but something. A few fish she carried around, plus toys she kept taking time to shove into her car so she would have arm space. Even so, she found it difficult anyway as the day went on. At least her arms weren't terribly sore after what felt like hours of throwing things. Ping pong balls, darts, softballs... So much. A work-out indeed. Maybe her aim had improved, too!
Di looked around her. So much food she barely got to eat, so many rides she didn't really touch. Left to her own devices, she hyperfocused, and lost a big chunk of the experience she otherwise might've gotten to enjoy. But there would be more fairs, right? In the future, she could find a way to come along with other people. Independence was cool and all, but throughout the day she kept missing her cousins, her sister... All the people who made fairs fun. Her mind started to wander, from imagining her with her family, to being with friends, to being one on one with someone... She didn't even know who, but the idea of walking around the fair holding hands...
She shook her head, blushing, forcing the thought away. What was the matter with her? Silly thoughts. She had enough going on without thinking about that too much. Besides, a school fair was probably a sad attempt at a cute date anyway. A state fair, now that was big enough to be a proper date!
Di sighed. Anyway. She just had to deal with this weird emptiness. Plenty of pride, yeah, she did manage to win some cool stuff a few times, but she wanted people comfort. A squad. Man, being relatively new to town really set her back. She knew clients, she knew people who kept the streets safer, but she didn't have anyone to hang out with, huh? Di needed to change that...
She was moving into a house, right? So there was that. A bunch of roommates to get to know. But they couldn't be her entire world, either. It was embarrassing enough that her family apparently already was with how much she kept thinking of them.
Dione looked at her phone. But her mind kept going back for a reason... She reached for it, then sent a text out. It was in the group chat between herself, her sister, and her cousins. No parents allowed. Just...sending out sentiments, her love, missing them. Not that it'd do anything; everyone was down south, but maybe they'd miss her as much as she missed them right now?
Either way, she would have to keep making new memories. And hopefully soon, she would make that happen. For now, Di was ready to just sit and chill for a few minutes.
