"I will take that as a good sign then." Everything had tasted good to him but he had wanted her opinion on things. It was not a meal he would have normally thought to make but the bits and pieces were things he knew Katrina gravitated toward when they went out. It all had tasted good to him but she was the better judge. "I did at least save the recipe for the mushrooms and there are enough leftover to make them for lunch tomorrow as well." He hadn't wanted to make too much of everything, wanting to keep dinner on the lighter side so they could enjoy the rest of their evening as well. Kian tipped his glass toward the small pile of neatly wrapped boxes near Katrina's seat. "If you will hand me your glass I will pour you some more wine while you decide which to open first."

"So mething to snack on between brunch and dinner?" She laughed softly, passing her glass off to Kian before standing. She reached over, fingers brushing lightly along the line of his jaw before leaning in to press a tender kiss to his temple. She would have told him that he didn't have to buy her presents, but he would know that. He knew her thoughts on things and he still found a way to make her enjoy the act of receiving. "I'll pick the first one if you pick the second, fair?" Her brow lofted as she stepped back, plucking a gift bag from the table as she settled into her seat once more.

"I have already picked one Kitten, it isn't on the table." While she settled in her seat he stacked up the plates so they wouldn't be in the way, tucking them off to the side for the moment. Taking her glass he filled it half way again before putting the wine back on the ice and setting the glass down. The gift bag was on the heavier side and once Katrina moved aside the soft pink tissue paper the reason for it was obvious. There was a well made mug sitting inside shaped like a black cat with a few golden embellishments.

The tone of his voice brought another light flush of color to her face. It was a tone that she could have very easily forgone opening any other presents for, yet she knew he enjoyed it. He liked taking care of her, showering her with gifts, making her smile. The mug made her smile as she drew it out of the bag, fingers tracing along the gold tipped ears. She'd seen a mug similar to this one during their trip to London, making claims that she didn't need it right then and there because she didn't want to risk anything happening to it on the travel back to the states. He remembered-- of course he would. He always did. Katrina set the mug down, smiling as she reached for the smaller of the two remaining boxes. "That's cheating, Kian."

"Hardly cheating." He leaned back in his seat to take a sip of his own wine, enjoying watching her open her gifts. He had remembered the mug and after a bit of hunting found a shop based in the states that sold them as well. It was easy enough to order one and have it sent over without Kat getting wind of it. Even if she decided not to drink out of it, the gold being impossible to microwave, he knew she would still enjoy it. Inside the smaller box was a fresh new collar, the scent of new leather obvious. It was similar to one they already had though this one had the marks of being handmade rather than something from one of the local shops. The edges had been sanded so that, while the leather was stiff, it would not scratch Katrina's skin once it was on.

Katrina ran her fingers slowly along the edges of the collar. The custom work was well done, the detailing beautiful. The silver lock was, quite possibly, her favorite thing about the accessory. She wanted to put it on, or hold it out to him to put on her as though he'd given her something as fine as a necklace from a fancy jewelry store. She didn't, of course. It wouldn't match the dress she wore, the pale pink far different than the majority of her wardrobe. It was soft, almost delicate in appearance because of that despite the material it was made of. Kat set it back down gently in the box, looking back to her lover for a moment. A soft smirk curved the corners of her mouth. "... Should I assume the last box has something in it to match?" Brow arched, eyes bright, she reached for the last of the gifts on the table.

Kian laughed softly, nudging the last box over closer to her. "I suppose it could match if you want it to though I did not get the two of them intending for them to match." Thinking about the contents of the last box and the collar was a nice thought, something she could surprise him with at some point. The bow on the last box was held together with a wax seal, Louis Vuitton's famous symbol embossed into the wax. Inside was a soft silk robe wrapped in tissue paper. Katrina had mentioned wanting one that would be better suited to lounging around in than the one she had and this one was a bit longer. Less something just to hide her panties and more something she could spend the day comfortably in.

One of the things that she appreciated about Kian out of the many things there were to appreciate was the fact that he bought her things to cover up with. It wasn't just about exposure or viewing pleasure. It was about layers, comfort and a myriad of other sensations. He cared about her and that made all of the difference. She let the silk run between her fingers, would have been tempted to rub it against her cheek were it not for the makeup she was wearing. It was high enough quality to not run or easily brush off, but the robe was soft and beautiful and she wanted to take no chances. She could easily imagine the way it would feel against her skin anyways just from how easily it passed through her hands. "You're trying to spoil me entirely this evening, aren't you."

While Katrina was opening the last box he set his wine down and got up, moving just out of her line of sight to the small sideboard against the wall of the room. Pulling open one of the small drawers he took out a black velvet box he'd tucked in there that morning. He had told her he'd picked out one gift to give her he just hadn't wanted it on the table. He walked up behind her chair, leaning down to brush a kiss against her temple. "I believe I am permitted to spoil you a bit more than usual on your birthday." Katrina had come so far in the last year he felt like she deserved something special, something outside of the usual spoiling he did for holidays. He slid his arms around her, holding the box out where she could see it for a moment before pushing the lid up. "You do deserve it for how far you've brought yourself Katrina."

He was right to have kept the black box off of the table. It would have caught her attention throughout dinner, leaving a level of anxiousness lingering in the air that leaving it hidden had kept at bay. The other gifts were small things that he could have surprised her with at any time, but a small black box... Her heart pounded as she reminded herself that Kian knew her just as well as she knew herself, if not better. He wouldn't have bought her anything that she wasn't ready for because he would know that while she had come a long way since their first meeting there were still some things that might startle her away. It was a jewelry box, yes, but he was leaning over her, surrounding her with his warmth and not taking a knee beside her. The box opened and she found herself filled with delight so bright it chased any shadows in the back of her mind away. Jewelry was something that she was used to buying herself-- mostly costume pieces, here and there, with the majority of her 'investments' going into being able to accessorize her piercings. Kian had helped her fund that recently, but she hadn't gone as far as to buy anything rich or fancy. This pendant, the pendant Kian had chosen for her, was beautiful, taking her usual flare and elevating it. She could tell him that he shouldn't have, insist that she didn't deserve something this lovely, something that had no doubt been expensive. She didn't, instead reaching to brush her fingers lightly over the brilliantly pink gem. "Kian, it's beautiful..."

"Just as beautiful as you are." He smiled, brushing another kiss against her temple before he pulled the pendant carefully out of the box. It was on a delicate but strong silver chain just the right length to sit perfect on her chest. Straightening up slightly he hooked the chain around her neck, hands running down along her shoulders. He was glad she liked it and didn't think it was too much. She didn't have many expensive jewelry pieces and he'd wanted her to have one she could wear with almost everything she owned.

"Flattery." The word left her mouth alongside soft laughter as she brought her hand up, fingers brushing lightly over the pendant as she tilted her head to peer up to her lover. He'd thought of everything, his attention to detail something that she appreciated. He put the same care into picking gifts that she did and it made all of the difference in the world. He was wonderful and if this was any sign as to what she had to look forward to for the rest of the night she knew she wouldn't be disappointed at all. [Fin]
