"I'm Jace Conners" Jace said when everyone introduced themselves. Jace looked to the teacher hearing the whistle and the teacher began the class. He took out a notebook, a pen, and his planner in case he needed to write anything down. He took this class in hopes that it would help him in the future when he is investigating crimes. He felt it would be useful to be able to analyze motives and behaviors when it comes to finding the criminal responsible for the crime.

How are we going to start the relationship with Leora and Jace? I know things need to "hit boiling point" with him and Kolya, but if I know how we want to do this now it can work better in the long run.
Leora jumped a little from the whistle, but nothing major. As everyone around her introduced themselves, her eyes moved to the girl who came back into the room. She looked......out of place to put it kindly. True, some people in the room where in jeans and hoodies, but she was swallowed up by the materials. Leora was a girly girl, she was wearing a girly chic outfit with black wedge sandals to match. She knew she was thin and dainty and her outfits gave her confidence. This girl seemed to want to hide herself from the world. "Does anyone know who she is? The girl on the other side of the room in the big hoodie?" she asked to the others, wondering if they'd seen her before.
#FF8243 // "" #FF3333 Alexandria continued the lesson without interruption, keeping an eye on students who seemed to be slow in taking notes. She didn't want to leave them behind, so she used examples of assessments as she went over it all. The first few assessments would be simple, easy to follow, and done in groups of 5. Alexandria wasn't about to let people choose their groups, as people would be left out if that was the case, so she had pre-made the groups. Students groaned at the statement and names began being shouted out. Students were moving around the room to be in groups, and Alexandria was happy no one was complaining all to much.
Brycin said as he read the piece of paper handed out. He was happy he didn't have to move, making way for Nora to come over. She was bringing her chair over to the table the other four were at so he shuffled over so she could fit. ๐๐ฝ'๐ผ ๐ท๐ฒ๐ฌ๐ฎ ๐ฝ๐ธ ๐ถ๐ฎ๐ฎ๐ฝ ๐๐ธ๐พ, ๐๐ธ๐ป๐ช," he said with a small smile. He didn't want to make her uncomfortable because she seemed rather introverted. He hoped she would settle in and be welcome, but he had a feeling that it would be hard to bond with Leora. She was incredibly out there, even to him, but because he was ambiverted he could read personality types very well. Most of the group seemed introverted, even he was more introverted, but Leora was so extroverted it was blinding.
#9D6B84 // "" #9F00FF Nora was not thrilled to be doing group assessments, but if she wanted to pass the subject there was no sense in complaining. She grabbed her belongings and her chair and walked over to the four sitting next to one another, assuming they were her group-mates. Brycin introduced everyone and she gave a half-smile to them all. "๐๐ฒ๐ฌ๐ฎ ๐ฝ๐ธ ๐ถ๐ฎ๐ฎ๐ฝ ๐๐ธ๐พ ๐ช๐ต๐ต," she mumbled in her light, Brazilian accent. She settled into her seat and wondered if she would get along with the others. The boys seemed easy to get along with; Jace having a dark aura that was calming to her, Brycin seeming gentle and sweet in nature, Cherry had a demeanour that was similar to her own, but Leora seemed so bright and extroverted it was almost intoxicating and suffocating.

I purposely made Cherry the opposite of Nora in their struggles with abuse; Nora became depressed and Cherry overcame it. Here's an ASL translator if you want it: link

Cherry was interested to get to know Nora, because there was something about her that seemed oddly familiar but she couldn't put her finger on it. True, she could use her mind reading to find out what it was without Nora's consent, but if she wanted to be a doctor she would need to not impose on people's thoughts. Sometimes, thoughts of others was all she could hear, but she did her best not to read minds without a reason. Nora seemed hesitant but not cold, so she smiled and did her best to make her feel welcome.
I don't suppose you know ASL? she signed. To her surprise, Nora nodded and she grinned wider. She preferred speaking through ASL rather than typing her words or writing them down. The others didn't understand, but she was glad Nora did. We hope you feel welcome here she signed again.
Jace wasn't sure who Leora was talking about and turned to look at Nora then back to the teacher when she began class. They were put into groups and moved over a bit making space for Nora to join them at their table. "Nice to meet you too" he said after Brycin had introduced them all. Nora seemed to relax in the presence of his dark aura which was not something he was used to still. Leora was so lively in aura that it was oddly attracting to him which is odd since it was something that usually made him uncomfortable like how sometimes it felt being around Ebony's bubbly personality. He took off his glasses for a moment to rub his red rimmed eyes. He put his glasses back on and looked to Cherry who had started signing to Nora. He did not understand but he was still curious to learn and understand.

I'm not sure. Now they have to talk because they are in a group but how do we get these two obviously different people to get close?

Why not have the two share something big in common? Like a love for comic books or travel or something? It'd have to be something that would bring them together and have a lot to talk about. And, like, after that they'd realise they have less and less in common and nothing to keep them together over all and then be done.
She was glad to see students were bonding well, as it would work well with the groups she had assigned. No doubt some students would want to change to be with others down the line, but some groups seemed to work very well. Alexandria sat in her chair and began a timer for twenty minutes so conversations could get underway. She wouldn't be making everyone stand up and shout it out, but it was an ice-breaker for the groups.
Brycin figured that he would make friends with whoever was in Forensic Science, his major. However, he'd missed the class this morning because he'd needed to go to the nurse after a panic attack over losing his mother's necklace she'd given him as a graduation present from high school. He'd been looking forward to the class and was sad to have missed out.
#9D6B84 // "" #9F00FF Nora internally groaned about sharing, but she knew it was going to happen at some point in this class. At least she wasn't saying it in front of all the students and just four others.

Cherry was taken aback when Nora mentioned her traumatic past. She had a feeling she would need to discuss this, but she wasn't going to sign the entire thing. She reached for her tablet and opened a file that had a reason why she was taking the class. I am taking Psychology to give myself a better undertaking of the human mind and emotions to add to my dream of being an Emergency Room Nurse. I am taking this class to understand why bad people do the things that they do. This comes from the fact that my abusive ex-boyfriend slit my throat to try and kill me for leaving him. While I lost my voice, I did not lose the will to live and continue on. His actions only helped my dream of being a nurse.
She let them all take turns reading it before nodding to Nora for her to understand she felt the same kind of pain. She never thought someone else in the class would have a similar past. They had a similar experience with attempted murder and came out two different ways; Cherry was stronger than before and overcame her internal battles but Nora had gained depression and anxiety.

I like Author's idea! So far, from what is on the profiles, they might share a similar taste in music like musicals and operas.
I also have a feeling because psychology is so close to her major, once they split she'll drop the class for something else. Also to get distance from him so he doesn't try running back or something like that.
Leora was visibly upset over the details of abuse that Nora and Cherry had suffered. She wanted to save them, scoop them up in a hug and make it all okay, but that wasn't how it worked. "That's so sad!" she said with wet eyes. She blinked the emotions away and decided it was her turn to go. "I want to use this to really boost my chances to be a good Psychiatrist. I know that taking psychology when I want to do physiciatry seems like a cliche, but I feel it is useful to what I want to do for a career. Boring, I know," she said simply.
Jace listened as everyone went around and told their reasons for taking this class. He had to admit it angered him that men would do such things to these women and was one reason why he wanted to go into this career because unfortunately there are many cases where people in these situations don't make it out alive. "I chose this minor because I felt it would help me in my career and allow me to do my job better. I want to be a forensics investigator and I feel like understanding a person's behavior and habits would allow me to follow evidence and find the criminal responsible. Also psychology helped me a lot growing up when I gained my ability rather then being consumed and terrified of what is a part of me I learned to embrace it and gain some control" he said since he was not in full control. A slip up in his emotions could be bad which is why he did his best to keep his emotions in check at all times which made it hard to read him sometimes.

I think the original idea was for dating, but I don't think they'd bond so well in the end. Getting super close, like, almost dating. Does that make sense?
Leora cringed internally when Jace mentioned the career he wanted. She couldn't stand seeing blood from a paper cut, let alone think of the idea of a crime scene. On the outside, she remained calm. She knew that they had gone over their pasts and why they wanted to be in the class, in less than 10 minutes, so now what were they going to talk about? She didn't like silence and she didn't want to sit there scrolling through her phone. "So we have two social workers, a nurse, a forensic investigator, and a psychiatrist. We're a weird combination of professions, huh?" she joked.
#A2A2D0 // "" #12048F Brycin laughed at Leora's joke and wondered what they were going to do with the time now. Everyone in the group went quiet, Cherry sitting in silence waiting for something to happen. "๐ฆ๐ฑ๐ธ ๐ฑ๐ช๐ผ ๐๐ฑ๐ช๐ฝ ๐ฌ๐ต๐ช๐ผ๐ผ ๐ท๐ฎ๐๐ฝ? ๐'๐ฟ๐ฎ ๐ฐ๐ธ๐ฝ ๐๐ฑ๐ธ๐ฝ๐ธ๐ฐ๐ป๐ช๐น๐ฑ๐," he said, trying to get a conversation going that wasn't about abuse or trauma in any way. Nora responded briskly, not surprisingly, but at least she was talking. After admitting what she had, it was a big deal in Brycin's eyes to remain talking as openly as she was. It was good to see her come out of her shell, even if it was only a tiny bit.
#9D6B84 // "" #9F00FF Nora didn't know whether Leora was really joking or not, but she didn't say anything about it. Getting upset over words was useless, as her own thoughts were much darker and worse. She looked at her phone for the time and knew the class was nearing it's close; they had about 20 minutes left. Her thoughts turned to the assessments they'd be doing later and wondered how group projects would go as the term progressed. Her thoughts turned to why she felt a connection to Jace. More than likely it was because of their powers being similar; destruction and chaos. With the lightest touch and emotional unbalance, she could turn a human to dust, just as Jace could unleash hell. The two of them in a room in a bad frame of mind would be catastrophic. She did her best to put those negative thoughts out of her mind less she work herself into a depressive state.
Brycin's sudden change of conversation caught her off guard, "๐'๐ฟ๐ฎ ๐ฐ๐ธ๐ฝ ๐๐ฎ๐ช๐ต๐ฝ๐ฑ."

Cherry looked up from her phone when Brycin mentioned what classes they had next. Counseling, she signed. There were a few minors she was taking to get her score up higher, because she couldn't take Emergency Medicine as a major due to her ranking. She'd take Public Health for a year once she had enough points by the second year, she could move to her preferred major. Nursing would always remain one of her minors, but she would likely take Paramedical Science and Pharmacy Studies. For now, she'd have to be patient. If she did extraordinarily well, she might receive permission from the Principal to change classes by Term 2, which was what she was aiming for.
She was eager to see if she shared any other classes with other students, since she shared two with Jace. She was afraid she wouldn't make a friend in her next class, but she decided to take Dance as her fourth minor because it was a change from all her medical studies and it was something she wouldn't need to talk in. She hoped she'd feel more comfortable in a dance hall than at a desk.
Jace nodded in response to Leora's joke. He looked around at the group running a hand through his unnaturally white as he listened to everyones response to Brycin's question. Class was ending soon though it was obvious there was some awkwardness within their group but that was expected especially after talking about some heavy pasts. "Martial arts" he responded. He didn't seem to have any classes with anyone else except Cherry and he wanted to ask if he could learn some sign language from her. He had always been interested but didn't think to ask for classes when he had been so focused on trying to gain control of his ability and having gone to a public high school he had to put everything he had into learning to control his emotions. High school was one of the hardest things he had to deal with but it helped him to gain a lot more control then he had before.
"I have tennis next!" Leora giggled. She was happy to be doing something active after sitting for so long and she was eager to run around the court using the energy she had stored. She needed to be so active, it was a downside of her extroverted personality, and so she was looking forward to releasing it all. After tennis was her pilates class, her way of winding down. She knew that after dinner and magic studies, which she was excited for to release all of her light manipulation. She had plans to go to the gymnasium during free-time and use the running track. She had a cute gym outfit already hanging in her dorm room ready to be worn.
