3 minutes didn’t sound so bad. And then Luka completed the piece and she wasn’t so sure anymore. Mostly thanks to the left hand addition.

“Hmmmm,” she looked at the piano as if second guessing her choice. Maybe the harp would be easier, but on a brighter note this could be the perfect excuse to go visit. By the sound of it Luka had it all figured out.

Dior’s eyes widened as she saw that Luka had a phone. His very own phone!

“Oh! What if I have an emergency too?” She looked up at her guardian. Rowan smiled knowing very well where this conversation was heading to.

“Well good thing we are always nearby and you won’t go anywhere unaccompanied hm?” Her eyebrows rose giving the frei a look although she knew perfectly well it would not always be the case.

She didn’t like the idea of either one of her wards going off to a different city unsupervised with no means of communication. What if something happened and they needed to call the police?

“All my friends have one!” Rhys said out of nowhere. He and Dior exchanged a glance, one that was not missed by the witch. “And I have straight A’s.”

Rowan hummed thoughtfully while the two children stared at her with hope. “We can discuss this with your mother later. In the meantime,” she dug around her bag and pulled out a notepad to take down the information Luka offered.

The name was vaguely familiar from the contact list she had been given previously. She would have to give him a call later to make sure the visit was of no consequence. It would be rude and neglectful not to!

“I want to learn the piano and Luka has one! And he will teach me,” she nudged his side.

“I thought you said you were going to learn the flute,” Rhys interrupted. He raised his eyebrow at the sudden change of plans.

“I changed my mind. See look how much I’ve learned,” she played the part she had just been taught and looked at her brother smugly.

“That’s literally like five notes.”

“So?”

Rowan sighed and turned to Luka. “I will call Elai to see if something can be arranged. I would like to meet him in person.” She gave him a warm smiled and then patted Dior on the head. “That was very lovely I’ll be looking forward to the private concert. Now, it seems we are expecting a big thunderstorm this evening so I think now would be a good time to head back home."

"A flute?" He turned to look at Rowan. Clarinet for the little boy and a flute for the girl huh? "If you want to learn the flute instead Dior, I know someone you can get lessons from. And, you can always learn the piano and flute together. It might help getting some real, formal training." Luka explained. After all, as much as he could try and teach Dior, there was a huge difference in instruction between him and a real expert.

As Rowan took down the number on a notepad, Luka made a mental note to request an updated list of the Raevan guardian contact sheet from the Lab. If Dior was one of many new Raevans, it was time they get with the times and meet everyone.

When Rowan mentioned the bad weather, Luka turned to look outside. The skies had darkened quite a bit, and he could hear thunder in the distance. "Yes, please give him a call. He would be delighted to meet you Ms. Rowan. And, I should probably leave as well. It's a 10 minute walk to the station, and I didn't bring an umbrella." Funny how his phone had given him a notification to expect rain, and yet, he'd still somehow forgotten to bring an umbrella.

He turned to face Rowan, Dior and Rhys. "It was nice meeting you all. Especially you, Dior." Luka said with a smile. He couldn't remember the last time he'd seen a Raevan. It must've been at least a couple years if not longer. "Goodbye, I hope we see each other again in the future."

Giving them one last wave, Luka turned to leave the shop as the first few droplets of rain began to fall. Pull the hood of his jacket over his white locks, the youth darted across the street to seek cover under the awnings as he made his way to the station.

Today was one of those days where getting rained on wouldn't ruin his day.

Dior wanted to pinch Rhys for that. “The piano is fine,” she stated confidently. “Maybe later.” Depending on how the piano learning went. “Thanks Luka! I hope to come over tomorrow.”

“Hey now that’s too soon who will run the shop?” Rowan inquired. “We will stay in touch as I’m sure Dior will dial the moment we get home. Now run along now, and you two bundle up.”

Dior complied by shutting her hoodie so that only a small part of her face could be seen. Rhys on the other hand had brought along an umbrella per his aunt’s suggestion.

Rowan snapped her large umbrella opened and stepped outside, holding a hand out for Dior to take. Together they made their way back to the bus station.
