The girls smiled in appreciation.
They took their plates and took enough food to serve themselves, leaving enough for Marie to eat.
"Oh wow! This is great!" Norah said after taking a small bite of chicken. She continued eating happily as Cordelia tried it.
"Yeah, This is awesome."
She said, enjoying the chicken as well. After she ate a few peices, Cordelia drank some of her milk and moved on to the fries. Norah wasn't as fast of an eater, but she would eventually catch up. It was evident that both the girls were pretty hungry after such a long morning and were enjoying the food Marie served them.

The girls began to slow down, and drink a bit more milk so that they wouldn't choke on their food.
"Sorry, mom." Norah apologized. "We're pretty hungry, and I guess we got a little bit ahead of oursleves." Cordelia nodded in agreement to this as she swallowed her food.
"Sorry about that. Norah's right. It's been a long morning and we didn't have much to eat until now."
She said, as Norah started to eat more of the french fries.
"So how are you enjoying the food, mom?"

"I'm glad you like it too." Norah replied, thinking about what things she could cook. "I know how to make cereal, toast, and sandwiches- but not much else." She said after remembering a few simple things.
"Well, our dad taught us how to make these really good grilled cheeses. You use Colby jack, Swiss, and cheddar all in one sandwich. It's his recipe. But we weren't really allowed to use the stove when we were by ourselves. "
Cordelia explained, taking one last sip of her milk before it was gone.
"Maybe we can make it for you sometime." She added with a smile as a milk mustache was visible on her upper lip. She giggled slightly as she took a napkin and cleaned her face with it.

Cordelia nodded as Norah was finishing one last piece of chicken.
"Alrighty, I'm done." Norah responded, wiping her face with a napkin. "I agree, I think grilled cheese should wait until later I'm pretty full."

"That's ok, sis. I'm finished and full too. Thanks again for the food, mom. "
Cordelia said, taking the empty dishes almost on instinct.
"Dad usually makes us take turns with dishes. Today would have been my turn." She explained, placing the dishes carefully in the sink and giving them a quick rinse with soap and water.

"Yes, mother, I will be careful."
Cordelia replied, making sure the dishes wouldn't fall from her hands.

"The mall sounds pretty fun." Norah responded as Cordelia was finishing. Once Cordelia was done with the dishes she came back into the dining room. "I agree. Dad was planning to get us into school soon as well."

Both the girls thought for a moment. They had lived on a boat most of their lives, but would come to land occasionally to visit, so they knew some things about the human world. Their dad was human after all, and Norah seemed to know what Cordelia was thinking of saying. "Should we tell her?". Norah asked.

Cordelia nodded in reply, and then looked back at Marie.
"We don't have a whole lot of questions. I'm sure you know our father was a human. We were raised by him all our lives. But I think we should tell you that we are both half-mermaids. Cordelia explained, "Yes, that's right. We try to keep it secret though, since we're not sure how people will react."

"I'm glad to know that you are not afraid of us. Mermaids are pretty friendly, and don't worry- We will keep hiding our secret. "
Cordelia replied.

"Going to a lab sounds scary, I'll try extra hard to keep it a secret too. Norah responded. "Anyways, I think we're all dressed and ready for the mall. We'll stay close by you so we won't get lost."

[Once Marie is ready, they follow her as they make their exit to the mall.]
