As expected, the patio door slid open and out stepped his husband, wearing a fur scarf that was the furball. A long drag was taken of the cigarette held between two fingers, thumb flicking the butt to a** it over the side of the wooden railing. Stormy eyes glanced over at the feline before he shook his head, blowing out smoke from the corner of his mouth.
"You're still here?" He didn't sound upset or even irritated, more of a casual observation. When he took note of the beer can in Paul's hand his brows furrowed. "You better only be sticking to two, you know how I feel." Alcohol was something carefully monitored in the Jones's household, a slippery road if Noah didn't keep his spouse on track.
He reached up, fingers finding the burly man's hand that he tugged down until the man was sitting beside him on the steps. A chaste kiss was pressed to the man's scruffy jaw, chin brushing against some part of Itsuki when he did so.
"This s**t's bullshit, y'know," he remarked, choosing to turn his attention back to the yard where the empty pool stared back.

The Mauvian had taken full advantage of the shoulder offering and Paul's generosity, turning it into a full blown ride. Thick fingers scratched the cat's head, focusing behind his ears as they quietly made their way outside towards the redheaded chimney stack of a man he'd married.
At the mention of the beer, he grunted before offering the top of the can for inspection, as if to silently point out see, I didn't even open it. The second beverage hadn't even been popped but it soon was after the threat issued concerning his intake.
He'd almost been killed.
He'd almost lost his spouse.
He deserved a couple of beers - hmph.
There was no resistance as he was yanked downward, the arm soon shifting to wrap around the taller man's shoulder and collect him, dragging him against his own solid form. His gaze joined Noah's on looking at the empty hole of concrete in the backyard, desperately in need of attention - especially with how warm the days were getting. Maybe he'd fill it in for the ******** birthday.
"Yeah, I know it is kiddo."
His head relaxed against the closed door, cheek pressing gently against the warmth of his new neck boa. "But we'll figure it out. Always do."
Silence surrounded them and for a moment, Paul could have sworn that he felt the little furball's heart, thrumming against the side of his head. The second beer was lifted as he sipped it, the can returning to his side as he turned to kiss the top of the ginger's head.
"Itschuko here brought us some movies." He wasn't going to bring up Die Hard but it was clear that the film was still on his mind. To be fair, Con Air was another one he was readily ready to sit back and enjoy for the umpteenth time. "Maybe we could all use an afternoon of veggin' out on the couch and enjoyin' each other's company?"

Ghouliboo We can fin any time you guys like! Nuxaz You can also kick the cat out now if you want. XD In the silence, shockingly uninterrupted by the talking cat strewn about Paul's shoulders, came a slow and steady purring sound. If Paul and Noah had any questions about whether a Mauvian could purr like your normal, nonverbal Earth cat, well... their question was answered. Little paws made biscuits gently against Paul's skin while the husbands exchanged pleasantries about the bullshit nature of a magical war being fought predominantly by children. Itsuki thought he could make something of them, with time. Fluffy tail tapping against Paul's shoulder, Itsuki yawned. "You have me, Noah-san~ And Zee-chan~ He's an eternal senshi now, you know. That's as powerful as they come. He's been doing this for a while, and he said he'd be happy to meet with you. We'll teach you everything we know about the war, so you can be safe~" The Mau's voice wasn't nearly as loud and excitable as it usually was, perhaps to preserve some of the intimacy of the moment. Yaaaawn"I hope the cigarettes were the right brand, Noah-san~"

Relaxing into Paul was easy, something Noah had done countless times over. It had practically been his entire life, except for those years when everything was wrong or ugly. The events of the day, or had it been night, Noah wasn't certain, had been utter horseshit and all he wanted to do was curl up with his husband until things felt less uncertain.
He was, as the youngins put it, shook.
Another drag was taken from the slowly shrinking cigarette, which he ashed over the side of the porch the trio had settled upon. For a long time he said nothing, choosing to ignore much of what Itsuki was prattling on.
Eventually, after he kissed Paul's jaw, he said, "Quit ruining the moment furball with your yammering." Another long inhale and the smoke was ashed against the wooden steps before being flicked over to the garbage can barely in sight.
He was content to just sit there for a moment with his husband and uninvited but tolerable guest for a little bit longer.

Fingers stroked his husband's side gently, running up and down his arm and back up to his shoulder. He listened idly as the Mauvian spoke, his small voice especially loud in the ear closest to his mouth. Small whiskers tickled the side of his face and he wrinkled his nose in response, but said nothing of the annoyance.
Noah's interjection wasn't missed and neither was his kiss. He smelled of smoke and soap, a combination that had long since grown soothing to the older Jones' senses. His eyes closed as he relaxed against the younger man, letting the group fall into a lull of silence as they continued sitting out on the back porch, soaking in the warmth of the outside world.
Finally, Paul decided that he'd much rather spend the remainder of the day reminding his spouse just how much he meant to him. While the furball had good intentions, there were certain things the eager puss couldn't exactly assist with.
One beefy hand moved to gently collect the cat curled around his neck, setting him down on the step alongside him. Fingers fell behind his ears and scratched lightly - the cat didn't wince or hiss so maybe he was doing the petting thing right?
"Tell you what, Itchaku. Why don't you drop by on Monday 'n you and I can put on some flicks while we get the house chores done, yeah? Me 'n Noah, we should probably get some rest in, it's been a long day."
Despite the pain still radiating from his shoulder, Paul peeled himself from beneath the weight of the ginger to rise from his hunched spot on the stoop. A stretch or two later, once his back was properly popped, he moved to scoop up the grumpy, exhausted redhead and used his foot to slide open the back door.
Glancing back, he offered a half smile to the feline before nodding his head. Thanks was grunted softly, right before the large man turned back around and dipped down to steal a kiss from his beloved, both soon disappearing into the depths of the house together.
