He seemed to relax a bit and took a moment to think things over. Finally, he nodded. “I’ll have to put more thought into it. But it’s on my mind now, so maybe I’ll figure something out down the road.”
He didn’t seem like it was something he was even so very worried about anymore; a small smile lingered on his face and he leaned back some. “I’m really glad we could talk today,” he decided. There was a lot more he could have said, but he didn’t want to tarnish the conversation they’d had earlier with thoughts of sadness or worry or doubt.
Instead, he just smiled again. It meant a lot to him that when he had something he wanted to talk about, that when he wanted advice, Julian came to him. Like he was worth listening to. Like someone valued his thoughts and opinions.
He smiled, just a little brighter.
“Just don’t worry too much about Roddy. And be honest, and optimistic. No matter what happens, you have a bright future ahead of you, and plenty of people who care about you and want to support you.”
